It's mentioned at the end of the first paragraph, lol.

The surviving marines of the Seventh were discharged because they openly defied the Chancellor. It was either that, or face imprisonment within some military corrections facility. The former options gives my character a future, should the muse persist, and a change to re-enlist if the situation changes.
