BY ROYAL DECREE
OF FABIAN ALBINAC, KING OF UKATIS
REGARDING CHANGES TO MATRIMONIAL LAWS

ISSUED: 902 ABY

We, Fabian Albinac, Monarch of Ukatis, hereby issue this Royal Decree, for the welfare and continued prosperity of Our Realm and all Our subjects:

I: Henceforth, the marriageable age for all denizens of Ukatis will be raised to eighteen years. Exceptions may be made under extenuating circumstances, as approved by the crown.

II: A marriage contract, signifying consent to the union, must be signed by both parties. Should the contract not be signed by both parties, the marriage will not be considered valid by law.

Should one or both parties be unable to sign the contract due to physical limitations, they may designate a representative to sign said contract in their stead as approved by a regional magistrate. If coercion of one or both parties is suspected, then the marriage contract will be examined by that region's magistrate who will determine whether or not the marriage is valid.

Existing marriages, including those involving one or both parties under the age of 18, are exempt from these decrees. However, existing marriages involving one or both parties under the age of 18 are encouraged to file a marriage contract with their regional magistrate.

Details on the implementation of these decrees will follow, and may be subject to modification as the crown sees fit.
