Theed. Arguably the most peaceful, serene capital city in the whole galaxy. Thayze had been raised there all his life. People are shaped by their environment, they say. Elite private school, Order of Shiraya, summer escapades in his parents’ holiday villas, it’s fair to say that he has a good upbringing.
Yet good times beget complacency; he synthesised from the hundreds of Serennian literature he read throughout his life. It propelled his ego, his pride, just a little bit too much, and what’s left is a shell of a man, no, a boy, yearning for an inner peace he kept straying away from chasing his ego’s idealized life.
Even the serene street of Theed is a tad bit too loud for him. He tried the Temple, he tried his chamber, he tried the garden, none worked. It is too much, the people, the buildings, the world, the back-to-back Mandalorian and Sith incursions. The cataclysm and how it took his old Master. The invasion of Serenno and how he cannot do anything but pray. The gala and wedding and girls and parties, and… karking joy of life. The kid he rescued last week would kill thousands to have his life, yet to him it’s just a cage that traps him in a perpetual state of sorrow.
So he took his speeder and drove, miles and miles away until he the noises are gone. Was it the location, or just his mind, he doesn’t care. It eventually leads him into a cave; not dirty but pristine, in typical Naboo fashion. Only then he can sit down and meditate.
Who knows for how long, when the fight is brought to him on a silver platter once again, and the peace he subconsciously seeks is no more than a mirage.
