STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

Strengths:

  • Emral possesses a wide array of physical abilities, but is unable to consciously utilize them at the same time, as they are specific to the personality he happens to be having. Even so, when in dire situations, his talents are brought about by sheer need and can be put to use as such. He is an expert marksman with various types of sniper rifles and also a formidable wielder of closer range blasters. While he knows some hand-to-hand, he does not excel at it.

  • His intelligence manifests the most when he is Kareem, but it appears in flashes even when he's one of the other two personalities. The acuity of his mind can be simply stunning sometimes, though the man rarely puts it to use that would benefit the living.

  • Due to his three personalities, one could say that Emral is highly adaptable to most situations. The three personas cover nearly every spectrum of characteristics a being can have, and thus provide Emral with an unique mix of quirks and idiosyncrasies to blend with various circumstances.

Weaknesses:

  • The obvious and greatest problem for Emral is, frankly, that he's never actually Emral. He is always one of the three; Kareem, Ethan or Kjell, but never the person he was born as. Due to his personality disorder, certain limitations are always imposed on him. Whether it's the conscious access to all of his abilities or the simple use of memory, there's always something blocking him.

  • He can never build lasting relationships, because his memories are bound to the persona that recorded them; the moment he snaps from one to another, his ability to recall them becomes null. The worst of it is that he doesn't even realize he can't remember it, because he has no memory of his time as the other two personalities.

  • Things that snap him from one person to another are seemingly random triggers that he cannot analyze properly, as he cannot share his findings as one persona with the other two, thus rendering any and all research useless. Such transitions between personalities also make him invariably confused and sometimes even physically nauseous or dizzy; while it's mostly harmless if it happens during normal activities, it is extremely dangerous when it happens mid-fight.

    PERSONALITIES:

  • Kareem Tyriani
Is the entity that occupies his conscious mind most of the time. It's the most balanced of the three, per se, but it has its own ups and downs. As Kareem, he is at the peak of his awareness and intelligence; he weighs every situation with precision more becoming of a surgeon than an assassin, his chosen profession. His idea of the perfect kill is the one that the target doesn't even notice: so smooth, sudden and unexpected that they're dead before they know it. Direct physical violence is revolting to Kareem and he engages in any and all combat from a safe distance, preferably with more than a few traps between himself and the chosen targets.

While his professional life is truly just that – professional – Kareem, up close, can be a very fun person. Most of the time, his features are lit up by a sincere smile as he downs glass after glass of Juma juice at the bar, talking and singing jovially with the other patrons; all in all, this facet of Emral is the slightly verbose and more than a little libertine man who often indulges the simple pleasures in life.

  • Ethan Varg
This side of Emral is by far the most intimidating. Even though his body in itself doesn't change, the man's presence can; as Ethan, he emanates a sort of dangerous air. Everything about him screams of hands capable of crushing men's skulls and of a guiltless, remorseless mind residing behind the cold, wintery eyes. Varg has a preference for heavy armors similar to those of Mandalorian make and wields his trusty hold-out blasters with uncanny skill. There is nothing that can stand in his way once he's made up his mind; not a person, not a faction, not even a damn city, if need be. In life, he abides by the first law of nature: 'Kill or be killed'. Whatever must be done to reach his goal, there's no obstacle that could stop Ethan Varg. He plows through life like a walking, armed-to-the-teeth mountain of seething stares.

To this personality of Emral, the whole idea of smiling is completely alien. His facial expression, frankly, rarely changes from a slight frown that he seems to carry at all times, and even when it does, it's only to further deepen the glare. He believes in nothing, except his own way made by his own strength.

  • Kjell D'Umori
The last of Emral's three personas is perhaps the most curious. Kjell is a shy, reserved man that prefers to avoid socializing if at possible. If he absolutely cannot evade conversation, he always strives to terminate it as quickly as he can, whether by being his stuttering, stumbling self, or simply by saying whatever the other person wants to hear. He is the most spineless of the three; whatever those stronger than him want, he will do it, so long as they leave him be. As such, he is constantly the victim of exploitation and extortion, especially since he has neither the guts nor the imagination to stand up for himself.

Even though there's a much more interesting, kinder man hidden under the façade of ineptness and awkwardness, it would take the utmost dedication, patience and determination to coax Kjell out of his thick shell.

BIOGRAPHY:
Emral Tyvalla wasn't born into schizophrenia; worse, he was born into a severely broken family. Even though he'd met both his parents – and he was the lucky one – that was about it. His mother occasionally came by and gave them money to survive, but that was it. Mostly, he spent his time with his sister Skadi, who was already old enough to work, thus subjugating the young boy to even greater loneliness. Not that she didn't try! Quite the opposite, actually; Skadi always strived to be a good big sister to the growing boy, teaching him about right and wrong, about how to act and what to do not to get in trouble. Still, this was Nar Shaddaa they were living on, and learning how to get out of trouble – and the skills that could get you in trouble in the first place – came as naturally as learning to walk and speak.

Five years later, their mother dropped by for the last time and left behind their baby sister, Irina. The boy, happy to have at least one playmate, dedicated all his time to teaching the young girl and the two grew ever closer while Skadi worked hard to keep them all fed and clothed. The moment Emral lived through his first growth spurt, Skadi got him a part-time job at one of the cantinas in their quarter; she still couldn't afford leaving the young Irina alone at all times and, knowing how comfortable the girl was with her younger brother, the choice was obvious.

Years passed without much change in pace; a turf war here and there, some protection fees to pay, Irina growing up sometime in the meantime, while Skadi finally got herself a work that got her well-paid, and even though she never told Emral what it was that she did, he needed only follow her out once in the evening, and all of his doubts were dispersed. With sadness in his heart, he decided to get a job that could better support the three of them, thus taking the taxing workload from Skadi's shoulders. During his bouncer years, he picked up a whole another skillset that he happily shared with his baby sister, teaching her everything he knew.

It was no surprise, then, that his whole world crumbled when one night; the apple of his eye never came home. She was old enough at the time that it wouldn't have been completely strange if she'd gone home with someone; after all, they weren't exactly noble and fine-bred ladies in these parts. First came the rationalizing, then the panicked search when both siblings tried to find their sister, spending every last credit on corrupt detectives and people who just took their money and never reappeared again. Skadi, always the practical woman, finally dismissed the issue, saying that Irina probably finally got fed up with catering sleazy men and hopped on a shuttle off-world in search of better life.

The young man, angry at Irina, angry at Skadi and, most of all, angry at himself, reached his breaking point. In a desperate attempt to compartmentalize, to force down the anguish and repress the pain of loss, hi mind shattered into three separate entities, each unique in and of itself. Having little next to no recollection of his life previous, he wasted the last reserves of credits on new equipment and set out to forge his name in the Galaxy.
