Wings of Basalt. (Coloi Extermination)

To any cosmopolitan bard or poet the concept of the inner struggle between man and beast was a moldering relic. In this age of silicon happiness and virtual wonder primal urges rarely amounted to more than a trip to the seedier side of the city to acquire some not so fine spice or a visit to the local brothel for a few halcyon hours.

Those lyricists that did find their muse in the exhilarating dance that was the hunt tended to do so vicariously through observing Trandoshans and the like. While there was certainly respect for these cultures they tended to be other. Like a Coelacanth there were something that was dredged from antiquity bringing only the faintest of ancestral desires with them.

The verse that Gwrtheyrn was penning however had a far more personal note to it. Somewhat of a pariah among his people his communication with the other sentient races of the universe had become very useful following what was known to some as the netherworld breach. Nothing unites disparate species quite like shades of the departed rising up to feast upon the souls of the living and thus unlikely alliances has been forged.

Gwrtheyrn was still a Maelibus and still a filid (one of the poets that recorded the oral history of his people through spoken verse and song) but now he was also a Jedi. True enough he was a member of the silver order who had through their long and sometimes sordid history done things to combat the darkside which would not necessarily be considered humane or ethical but as with all Jedi the Silvers had a core of moral decency that set them apart from the warlocks and diabolists of the Sith.

Alas this needed to be reconciled with his urges to hunt. Traditionally among his kind this would manifest in the savage mutilation and death of either a smaller sentient race or a sufficiently challenging prey animal. Now Gwrtheyrn was having his meals served to him regularly at the Jedi temple. This was all well and good but it left him without an outlet for his more violent urges.

Writing verse and learning to meditate on the force were fine pastimes but he had begun to suspect that if he totally ignored the raptorial edicts written into his very being then it would have negative consequences on his spiritual growth. Repression could only serve to make him vulnerable to the darkside and that was a fate he did not relish.

When the rumors of something unnatural and distinctly malevolent on the planet Vaal had reached the Silver Jedi temple Gwrtheyrn was more than eager to investigate. If his suspicions were correct than the tales of a airborne monstrosity that was leaving death and misery in its wake were detailing the exploits of a sithspawn.

Such a blighted creature was crafted with the sole intent of subjugating and terrorizing others. Its continued existence was a blasphemy against all natural life and thus it would be a kindness to dispatch it to the great beyond.

Vaals moon hung vast in the sky and its light in tandem with the stars gave illumination to the fields of aromatic grass that the golden giant strode through. The Maelibus was clad in a silver hued robe denoting his allegiance as a Jedi and his massive blade 'Ashla's mercy' was slung on his back taking the place of a light-saber.

In the distance was a vast building. A manor or estate which had long been abandoned and left to grow derelict through neglect. The locals had been keen to identify it as the lair of the beast but would only give him passage to the borders of its domain for fear of the creatures wrath.

And so the poet warrior pressed on humming the tune of a song as yet unwritten to himself.

Orphen had, had an interesting morning, but when he was called to arms in the middle of the night to a distress call on the planet of vaal, he didn't quite know how to react, getting up out of his bed, he had been selected to take a team of people down and survey the area, as well as help anyone he could find. Looking over to Korros sleeping soundly on the couch, Orphen ran over to the Kushiban and shook him awake. Calling for him to suit up, and that the two of them had a mission which they needed to be ready for. All the while, Orphen collected his own disc drones, attached his DCD, his light saber, his Gauntlet and the visor which he wrapped around his eyes, shading his vision from the sun and awakening to the constantly scrolling data of the device. Booting up Korros' support platform remotely with his own DCD, he was ready to go, Korros better have been ready as well, Orphen would wait one final moment for the Kushiban to catch up before the Jedi was out the door and moving down the street at a fleet pace, moving toward the star-ship hangers.

"So, we're heading to a planet named Vaal, seems to be a nice enough place, save for the wild-life, there are reports there of attacks coming in, they've requested Aid from the Jedi immediately, there will be a couple of people sent from here to rendevouz with the settlers of the village, but we're in need to go to the reported location of the disturbance, and I'm going to need you and your device to scout the place out as best as you can, and maybe help me out as covering fire if things get hairy... "

Orphen smiled, it was finally time for him to get into real combat, getting into his ship he would wait for Korros to park his support platform and then the two of them would be off as fast as they eye could see. Hitting hyperspace for the direction of the planet Vaal... hours passed, and they had arrived, the planet was in the neutral zone between the ever expanding area of the silver Jedi and the Jedi order. Though he had never known the Silver Jedi to be the enemy, there could be tensions between the order of the correct path and the rage-filled grey order. Which would only contribute to any trouble between them growing... and with Orphens' relationship status at the moment... he really hoped they could not 'smell' sith.

As they came to landing at the co-ordinates, they saw a mansion rather close, banking to the east side of it, a couple hundred meters out, it seemed there was something or someone walking toward the building...

"Korros, I'll need you to take the high ground on the platform and scout around okay? See if there is anything we need to know about."

And from there, Orphen got out of the ship, Drawing his pistols he was at the ready for anything.

Being woken up out of the blue made the diminutive lagomorph rather irritated. He grumbled a bit as he got read, but he wasn’t about to let his partner go alone and leave him out of the fun. To describe the hearing of the Maelibi was to reveal to the listener a vertible trove of tonal gnosis. Music reverberated through the air, earth and waves pulsating to the very rhythm of the stars. The great composers of the galaxy would sell their immortal souls to Typhojem for but the briefest instant of exposure to this frontier of sound. This gift (for what else could it be called?) was accompanied by a vocal range to match allowing the resplendent burrowers to intone , croon or bellow sagas and symphonies of terrible beauty.

So it was that the poet heard the descent of the two newcomers clear as a clarion call. One possessed the rhythmic heartbeat of a human or some near cousin. The other was strange...

Gwrtheyrn had heard the swift and irregular heartbeat of rabbits before. Human colonists had brought the creatures with them to his home world of Ieago presumably to give the fey sphere a familiar edge. As both his people and the lagomorphs were subterranean some of his kin had developed a taste for the furry sweetmeats. While not his favorite delicacy the Jedi had been known to devour the odd rabbit every now and again savoring the satisfying crunch of their bones and sanguine tang of their bodily humors.
It was clear to Gwrtheyrn that the creature was either a pet or perhaps bait to lure out the ravenous spawn. If this was indeed the case then the human had erred. From the various treatises he had studied on the alchemical aberrations that the Sith favored it was quite clear that most spawn desired larger more sentient prey.

And then the rabbit spoke.

It took a few seconds for Gwrtheyrn to mentally process this. Whirling to catch sight of the pair his vision keener in the half light of night than the full radiant glare of day he spotted a pallid human youth with a scarlet mane of hair and various technological baubles that hung to his person as a shaman kept his talismans. And there zooming away on some form of mechanical disk was a bipedal rabbit.

Three possibilities sprang to the poets mind. 1: The rabbit was actually a member of another species but had been cursed by the night sisters or some other witch into the form of a beast. 2: Somewhere in one of the more bizarre corners of the galaxy there thrived a community of rabbits of unusual intelligence and this specimen was but one of them. 3 : The human was a Sith sorcerer and the rabbit was in fact his familiar possessed by a demon or other unclean spirit.

Gwrtheyrn did not sense any darkside emanations from the young man indeed rather the opposite. However it was best to err on the side of caution and thus he spoke up to address the human.

"Hark traveler. Tis dangerous lands upon which you walk , If you are here to dispatch the beast then I would welcome your company. If not I warn you great havoc is about to break out upon this plain. However I am at a loss as to the nature of your companion. Is he spawned of magic or merely a foreign star?"

The Jedi Poet stopped and then proceeded to give a quick but formal bow his horned head bobbing.

"Forgive my rudeness thus far, my name is Gwrtheyrn proud member of the Silver Jedi Order."

Orphen, as he saw the gigantic sentient with the sword on his back, quite the opposite to himself in so fact he had zero technology on him which could be considered even remotely advanced, but his blade pulsated with the light side of the force, there was no mistaking the Jedi blade from a mile away, though it was indeed the first specimen Orphen had ever seen of the Jedi forged blades which were once common place in the old republic and the times of the Je'daii. Hands in his pockets, he approached the gold skinned creature who spoke elloquently for a creature of his size and stature, which, in of itself was nothing short of a miracle. Though, on the contrary to the beasts senses, the force Aura which sprang forth from Orphen was an odd one depending on the one that looked, his presence in the Jedi order and learning the Jedi teachings had given him a positive frame in the force, though, due to some of his own philosophies and beliefs, that aura became slightly more grey and monochromatic, then finally there was his history, and the taint which to this very daiy stained his body, which, was like a drop of corrupted darkness swirling among his aura like smoke on the water.

As Orphen approached he bowed, and listened to the man as he introduced himself and queried about his companion.

"That's my friend Korros, he's scouting the area for danger as we speak, My name is Savant, and my companion there is a species of Lagomorph a Kushiban named Korros, and he's my charge."

Orphen spoke lightly.

"Yes, I was sent from the Jedi Order, we got a distress signal from the town, and we were sent from our space to lend aid, some more of my companions are in the town not to far from here, performing whatever diplomacy needs to be done, we're the forward scout... So, what do you know of what we're dealing with..? the details we recieved were rather short."

Orphen spoke, his eyes not straying from the villa which stood not too far away in the distance, not knowing that whatever was in there, was likely stirring with the presence of food accumulating nearby, the force signatures of the combined sentients beginning to surely and slowly rouse the creature from its sleep. Using his Visor from this range he was unable to sense anything, the visor was not even able to pick up the race of the Maelebus which stood directly before him, though, there was a strange bio-organic energy radiating from the villa, an anomaly... which was never a good thing..

[member="Korros"]

Gwrtheyrn listened to the jedi tinkers words taking them in. Finally he eyed up the visor covering Orphens eyes wearily before replying

"Alas save several hours pondering over old manuscripts, I have little knowledge so to speak of the many forms that the puppets of Boga may take."

The poet stopped mid sentence. A fourth heart had begun a rhythm - this fibrous black pump much larger than even his own mighty organ. What made this occurrence so unusual was that it had not simply traveled into his range of hearing but rather started to beat as if conjured from the air. The disconcerting effect reminded the Maelibus of the tales of whampiry that his old master Luigsech had regaled to him. Something dead brought to life by the both the dark and the promise of prey that it held within it.

Whatever was out there thought it could make a meal of Orphen and himself. He did not know of the young machinists skill in battle but the dark servitor had made the wrong choice if he thought he could prey on one of the golden sons of Iego.

"Look yonder tinker. The beast makes all haste towards us upon the wing."

The poets words rang true. Through the ebon sky swooped an immense figure its wingspan blotting out the stars. With a cry that embodied all the madness of old night the creature struck the ground some 30 meters away from the pair throwing up grass and soil and causing the ground to tremble violently with the very impact of its descent.

Darting forward through the shock wave of dirt Gwrtheyrn's hand was already reaching towards the hilt of his enormous greatsword Ashla's Mercy. Clasping the ten foot blade in both hands he weapon erupted into golden flames sending off unearthly radiance and illuminating the night. Now exposed from its cloak of darkness the creature was visible in it's entirety. A twisted hybrid caught somewhere between a Rancor and the Camazotz bat of ancient myth its crimson eyes flashed with hunger as it hurled twin chunks of masonry ripped from the manor walls at the two Jedi.

The nearer he got to the mansion to scout it out, the more and more he wanted to get as far from it as he could. He got as close as he dared, then turned around and hightailed it as fast as he could back to Orphen. Once he got near enough he saw some giant being standing near him and he worried he was in some kind of trouble. He leaped off the glider, landing on his human’s shoulder, his long fluffy tail bristling. “You better not be threatening my human or I’ll blow you to bits.”

One might think such a threat from such a creature as him to be funny, but his glider responded by brandishing weapons. Ninety percent of his body was covered, save for his tail and his fur had changed to a bright red. For such a tiny thing he gave of quite a fierce air, all because he thought he was coming to the aid of his friend. He wouldn’t hesitate to do exactly what he said, all Bat needed was his signal and he’d be holey.

As Korros took off scouting the area, it seemed that there was no immediate danger, the glider was working well and Korros was getting the hang of using it pretty quickly, which would definitely prove to be an advantage for the kushiban on later missions. Orphen knew that this would be a good exercise for the younger lagomorph as he continued to converse with the Maelebus. The behemoth of a man standing before him was larger than life, from the scans he did receive from his visor he could immediately tell that his natural chitin was more then resistant to blaster bolts, though, should deals go south, it was a good thing that the blasts from a charric were never quite the same.

"Don't worry Korros, he's done nothing bad, he's a silver Jedi, and he's here for the same reasons we are, this place is close to Silver space, so it made sense that some of their representatives would be around here somewhere. "

Though, from what Orphen ascertained from what the golden colossus had said, was that he was equally in the dark about what was lurking within the mansion before them... however it wasn't long before there was a harrowing crashing sound from the mansion, the roof, seeming to almost explode upwards as something large took to the night skies, its black wings spreading as the moonlight reflected from its almost steel-like hide. The creature was expansive, dwarfing the three of them... though Orphen could only imagine what Korros was feeling right now... Though Orphen had more on his mind right now, shock, horror, he had never sseen anything like it, and the aura it exuded reeked of the dark side... almost freezing in place, Orphen looked to Korros on his shoulder, gulping before talking...

"Uhm, Korros... mount up... something tells me that most of our weapons aren't going to do much to that thing... but it has to have weak-points... see if you can try and find them."

Bringing his hands behind him, he stuttered an order to his DCD, from Orphen's back, six floating drones activated and spun around the air by the Jedi ass he drew his two heavier pistols. Aiming up his opponent, he wanted to survey the attack from the Silver Jedi first... The beast needed to be distracted before Orphen made his move, so, strafing a long way around the creature to the right, he began to move to position himself at the creature;s flank, as the maelebus and Korros began to take their actions, attempting to not garner too much attention.

[member="Gwrtheyrn"]
[member="Korros"]

The creature sent a shiver of fear down his spine, he didn’t quite realize what Orphen had said, till suddenly he heard him clearly. “You want me...to buzz around that things body, shooting at it...and piss it off?” He turned to stare at him incredulous “Are you crazy?! I say we get the hell out of here, find the nearest starship and let them just blow this freakish eating machine from the sky!”

He’d figured, humans or something like that, not something the size of a freaking ship. As much as his partner was afraid, the lagomorph was was terrified. He wasn’t a predator to stand and fight on instinct, he wasn’t afraid to turn tail and run. All his instincts were screaming to run the petch away. Orphen would feel his whole body shivering, he was mere breaths from running away at the mere sound of a twig snapping.

By Ashla the rabbit was cocky. Under normal circumstances threatening a Maelibus warrior was tantamount to suicide. The Jedi Filid however was however not the average maelibi and so he let the largomorphs jibe pass him by. There were far more important things to focus on at the moment. Namely the hunk of mortar that was soaring through the air towards him.

Already surging ahead at top speed Gwrtheyrn had no time to dodge the masonry. Instead he lashed out with his greatsword causing the mass of rubble to shatter into thousands of tiny fragments that rebounded from the armored carapace of his hide. Reaching the gargantuan gargoyle he swung as second time. The blow struck true and with enough force to annihilate a speeder craft , flesh parted and the blow struck something with a deafening clang.

Profane magic had equipped the beast with plates of alchemically enhanced metal inserted beneath its skin. The skin of the wound gaped in an obscene manner revealing the blood covered panel , dented but not fractured. The winged beasts counter attack was lightning fast and would have killed any of the less formidable species of the galaxy outright. As it was it sent the jedi hurtling backwards through the air. Striking the ground the silver jedi let out a deep groan of pain.

The groan metamorphosed into a roar however as a taloned hand dug into the earth dragging the golden behemoth back up and into the fight. Potent cocktails of testosterone and adrenaline ran through the golden warriors veins drawing out the full extent of his latent primeval strength. The winged spawn had charged at him clasping its hands together in an axe handled smash. With one hand on the flat of his blade the Maelibus braced himself and caught the downwards blow on the enchanted weapon.

The rubble which was thrown in the direction of Orphen crashed and exploded into shrapnel where he once was, with force that would have turned the Jedi into little more than a crippled and broken corpse, there was a definite crash and explosion of shrapnel and gravel. the AI in the hover-bored evaded, thanks to the R-7 A.I. It held some of its own self-preserving traits which had always proven pretty fantastic. Orphen would realize that Korros was still on his shoulder as he spoke, this would be more than a big challenge for the little guy, but, Orphen highly doubted that the two of them alone were going to be able to bring this creature down, and Korros was by far the fastest of them all on his glider, the attacks of opportunity he could make vastly exceeded their own, so, Orphen used the AI on his own wrist to call the glider to them all... and as it would arc around and fly in their direction, Orphen would use this chance to attempt to talk some sense into Korros, as the beast seemed to begin to tunnel vision on the member of their group who seemed to be able to actually do harm...

"Korros, we need you, your the fastest of us all and we need that right now ... my scanning shows that its eyes are weak points, and enough damage done to its wings may limit its movement... plus, any distraction you can be to it, like me, will give that huge man there the time he needs to really put some damage on it... this thing has killed a LOT of people Korros, and it will kill a lot more if we can't stop it. Think of it this way... that HUGE man over there with the giant sword... AND me, NEED you Korros, a Kushiban, to beat that thing. These are the things that you could go down in history for as a hero. Are you up to that challenge? Do you think you can swallow your fear and fight something like that? Cos, I believe in you Korros, I know you can do this!"

Orphen would give Korros an opportunity to hop to his glider as he looked to the wings of the gargantuan creature, they had to be a weak spot on its anatomy, the steel layering under its skin would no doubt mess with its ability to fly otherwise, though, the wings themselves would have to be strong enough to lift the Rancor up into the air... meaning they would have to be strong enough to not simply tear holes in their surface area. Frowning slightly, Orphen ordered the drones to begin their work in flanking the creature, firing only when it had its back turned. The drones were so small compared to the massive creature he doubted they would be noticed, but Orphen didn't want them to begin their barrage of the wings until the creature was distracted enough, hopefully even blinded...

Once Orphen had reached the true flank of the creature, he would take aim at its upper body / head with his heavy pistols, and begin to open fire, rolling with the recoil with each of the shots, the Jedi was hoping to aim for its eyes, but, with the monster thrashing and moving the shot was a difficult one to get, even with the aid of his own targeting visor, but still, the Jedi opened fire freely, hoping to score some damage, though, likely, the charged particle pistols, although having small explosive effects on impact, would do little more than blow small pot-holes in its side.

Madness that’s what this was. The flying largomorph's shots had the desired effect. One of the projectiles struck a nerve - literally and with a howl of fury the creature spun in a corkscrew like motion taking to the air to pursue the white spitfire. With the damage from the inbuilt charric weapons inflicted by the glider its flight was not as strong as it would be under optimal conditions but there was no doubt that the creature could become airborne.

Relived from the sheer strain of Coloi's immense weight Gwrtheyrn took the chance to win himself an unencumbered lungful of air in the few moments in between savage exertion. Sure he could hold his breath for much longer than a human could but if he wanted to be at full strength the oxygen must flow.

Taking two springing steps Gwrtheyrn tensed the muscles within his legs and sprang upwards. Nature - or whatever supernatural force hid behind the veil of such things on Iego had intended this sort of maneuver to mimic those of a predatory shark though erupting from loose soil rather than roiling waves. Always one for theatrical heroics (As almost all poets of the cast in the classical mold are ) Gwrtheyrn turned it into a leap of triumph wrapping a shiny metallic hand around one ankle.

The effect was somewhat ruined when the Maelibus almost received a wayward shot from Orphen's charge particle pistols (Completely the poets fault as he had little conception of friendly fire). Due to these deadly radiant projectiles the Coloi was looking rather worse for wear , the intense nature of the rounds scouring shots even past its armor plating. Gwrtheyrn not wanting to be outdone slammed his greatsword repeatedly into the beasts side with his free hand. The final blow cracked metal splintering deadly shards that filled the air beneath. The warrior-poet got an elbow in his face for the trouble knocking out some teeth. They would grow back... eventually.

In its blind rage the creature strained to reach Korros's glider. Some fancy flying would be required of the largomorph if he wished to avoid a perilous fate.

[member="Orphen"] [member="Korros"]

This was the chance he had been hoping for, the creature was flying, and the Coloi was by no means a nimble flier, looking to the group it seemed that Korros might actually be in trouble as long as he kept moving in a straight line, but, Orphen had full confidence that he would be fine, charging up his gauntlet in the time these events came to pass as Korros protested the suggestive commands that he had given, though, with the promise of a buffet, Orphen smiled, hell, if he got out of this alive, he owed it to himself as much as the rest of them. But as Korros accepted and had flown over, striking at its wings and beginning to slow the creature down some-what as well as pull its attention off him, he had opened the gates to his strategy, the creature now was taking no notice of Orphen even though he was dealing a considerable sum of damage to the beast, as well as all six of his drones having moved into position... what happened next was going to be fantastic, beginning to lock in Orders with his alpha series A.I. Orphen projected this area as a chess board, and although the king was surrounded by little but pawns and lesser pieces on the playing field, but it seemed the time had come to spring everything in one fell swoop.

It was checkmate, without recourse.

Orphen shouted through his communications device for Korros to get the hell out of there as fast as he could, no doubt giving the furry little bunny the chance to test out the true speed of the glider rather than simply its hovering speed. Simultaneously, hoping he would comply and knowing that the maelebus would be more than fine from what cam next as the six drones at different angles of the Coloi leaped into the air, and all opened fire simultaneously, circling and pumping out what little firepower they had from every angle, targeting the wounds which Orphen had already peppered all across its body, hoping to hit softer locations... the aim was to deal what little damage he could to the wings and the body of the beast, but, namely, to stop its pursuit, confuse it, and hold it in place for the single moment he would need for what was to come.

Practical test run D-Pattern Aethim Gauntlet: 001 in 3... 2 ...

Casting either of his guns aside, he Braced his elbow just in case, having fired the weapon a couple of times before, but never in the heat of combat, he could see the projected calculations of where the beam was going to fire through his visor. The bolt which was capable of penetrating tanks and blast doors took aim, the beam aimed for the center of the creatures mass, just under where its diaphragm would be situated, assuming it had a humanoid physiology. Smiling, as the glint of pride crossed Orphen's face, the charric power running through the gauntlet ran up the tubes through his fingers, lighting his hand up like a firework before finally, the 6 individual small beams spring from his fingertips and the underneath of his wrist, uniting in a single, brilliant spark over the front of his palm... just like the super-weapons of old, the mega-laser created a beam with greater force than the sum of its parts by uniting the wave density of all of the waves, creating a more dense beam as well as a merely more powerful one.

1...

FIRE! The brilliant blue bolt of power shot straight for the beasts' chest, lasting one full second worth of constant out-put, boring through its flesh and hopefully deep into it, able to no doubt punch through its armour as if it were the hull of any other vehicle, as the creature had to still move, he doubted its armour would be similar to something which could actually resist it, like heavy tank plating or something of the sort. As the beam would ebb, the Gauntlet would go on its recharge cool-down of twenty long seconds, so, re-collecting his handguns, Orphen would ready himself for the next round if there was to be one, hoping that this would physically down the beast from the sky, adding to the damage that it would take.

So, ordering his drones to go to ground and cease firing, he would await another opportunity.

He didn’t have to look behind himself to know the creature was still on his tail. He could almost feel its rage, its hunger, the presence behind him was like a storm only growing more angry as it kept getting hurt. The one thing he had on the creature was his speed. He dove straight for the ground, hoping to out maneuver it and send it smashing into the earth. At the very last second, he veered away, then up, leveling out and putting on a burst of speed.

He was taking no chances, the exertion placed upon him was incredible and he was happy he’d thought of the magnetic tethers. He hoped it had fallen for his trick, he hoped it smashed itself into the unforgiving ground and died. He dove into a thick set of forest, had his glider go into a low power state and clung to it shaking like a leaf. He had to clench his teeth, just to keep them from chattering, his heart pounding in his chest. He wanted to just find a place to better hide, but what if he was needed again?

By now the Coloi was nothing more than a festering mass of hatred and pain. All around it there were small by insidious things driving wedges of agony into its being. It reached for Korros but the swift maneuvers of the largomorph eluded it. The rabbit and his glider was neither left or right and before it got the chance to look down...

The charged Super Charric shot struck like wrath from the heavens. What was not simply evaporated by the intense heat and force of the beam exploded outward in a shower of bone, metal and gore. Coloi had a lot of blood and until one had had the occasion to witness such titanic beasts death they very seldom comprehended the sheer volume.

Thrown by the nova Gwrtheyrn hit the ground a second before the Coloi did. The Silver Jedi alone made a sizable impact and the one that followed eclipsed even that. A crimson pool began to stretch its way across the plain staining Gwrtheyrn's prone form with a copper film. The pounding in his head was immense and his thoughts flickered to just how decisive Orphen's weapon had been. There was a good reason to keep a paranoia surrounding technology. Such devices gave men a power that belied their size and the order of the universe.

No.

No musing.

This needed to be finished - decisively.

Clambering groggily to his feet Gwrtheyrn took up his greatsword in a two handed grip. His body felt like he had been run over by a heard of Bantha and his mouth was filled with blood belonigng to both him and his opponent.

Sixteen labored steps and he reached the body - the sword rose and fell and the Coloi's neck loosened from its head. Several more strikes and the thing was decapitated.

Falling to his knees amidst the crimson river Gwrtheyrn breathed a sigh of exhaustion.

Orphen returned his drones after the direct hit, it seemed while the beast was immune to the effects of smaller weapons where the steel of its hide had been, the super charric was something which the beast obviously had not counted on... the beam ripped through the creature, with damage eclipsing what Orphen had thought it would have been, though, it made sense, blast doors were nothing to this peace of equipment, which meant that biological matter far thinner was likely also going to cave in as if it wasn't even there. Orphen had not thought about this kind of application, he had made the weapon to be anti-armour, as well as anti-personnel... the thought of being anti-monster... seemed to escape him for a moment, almost completely. Smiling as all of his drones returned and fell dormant, he called to Korros on his communications device, beginning to walk down to the body of the beast to ensure that it was down for the count, as well as to congratulate his team-mates on a job well done. He was almost certain that Korros would be ecstatic about felling something so large and so dangerous... considering he played a pivotal role in drawing the wrath from the two of them... if the Coloi had have focused all of its attention on Gwrtheryn... he would surely be dead rather than merely dazed, and Orphen doubted he would have had the time to charge the beam, and definitely not the angle while being attacked by the massive creature's sheer magnanimous force.

Once he reached the point, and once Korros arrived, He opened his mouth to speak, looking at each of them

"Well done! Gwrtheryn, That was... more than out-standing... by the look of that weapon I can't believe that it could actually hew the beast's skin... have you ever thought to put it on a vibro-brace? Wait... probably wouldn't work... too heavy... and KORROS! "

He said changing his attention from one person to the next.

"Your flying was amazing... I really don't think we would have managed without you, those shots to the wings were fantastic~ How do you feel?"

Orphen could only imagine the sadistic glee that would overwhelm him, he remembered what he was like when he got the glider the first time, it was shown now that he was not only able to take on the neighbourhood dogs, but escape from, and tango with mortal danger which would obliterate almost any warrior no matter how strong. The pride on Orphen's face was palpable, though, he did need to make that special helmet for the little guy, which, he would get to as soon as he could... could not leave things too long after all...
