DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
Energy Capacitor - The Capacitor of the VT-HC can store up multiple hyperspace jumps, as is it's primary function.
Modular Installment - Due to its design, the HC can fit on multiple vessels of multiple size with only small amounts of adjustment.

Strengths:
  • Faster Jumps: The primary function of the Hyperspace Capacitor is as it's name would imply. A regular jump to hyperspace requires a certain amount of 'charge' time for a hyperdrive. The navi-computer as well as the reactor need to work in tandem before a ship can properly jump. The VT-Hyperspace Capacitor changes this, storing up energy in order to allow a ship to jump as soon as the program coordinates are put in. This allows for much faster jumps to hyperspace that can occur more frequently.
  • Micro-Jumps: Due to holding multiple charges, the Hyperspace Capacitor is capable of allowing a vessel to Jump into hyperspace faster and more accurately. This function is perfect for what is known as 'micro-jumps' quick dips in and out of hyperspace that could ordinarily damage a vessels hyperdrive.
Weaknesses :
  • Burn Out: The Hyperdrive Capacitor requires and funnels a massive amount of energy, and like any device with these things can fail. If the Capacitor is overused or not properly maintained it is possible that the device can explode. This would be catastrophic for a ship, and of course would lead to the vessels ultimate destruction.
  • Charge Time: The Capacitor is just that, a storage point. This means that the VT-HC requires a certain charge time. Usually this is done when the vessel is resting or otherwise flying in sublight, however it is possible for a vessel to utilize all the charges within the capacitor, and thus would require new charges, this can take several hours depending on the size of the vessel.
  • Size Restriction: Currently, the function of the HC means it channels a lot of energy. The larger the ship, the more energy it requires. Due to this the Hyperspace Capacitor is currently not rated for ships larger than a thousand meters.
DESCRIPTION
As Vanir Technologies begins to take a larger role within the development of starships, it has come to realize that it's suite of tools is lacking.

Though the Corporation has designed more than a few pieces of worthwile technology, including the Proton Gatling and the VT-Command Throne, it has found that it is missing additional components that could be more worthwhile.

Through significant research and study of other hyperdrive technologies found throughout the galaxy Vanir was able to create a Hyperspace Capacitor. This device was designed to serve as a sort of reservoir for starships. Hyperspace can be difficult to enter for certain vessels, reactor charge times, navi-computer data, and a host of other troubles can prevent starships from properly entering faster than light travel. In order to assist with this the Capacitor stores and regulates the energy required to enter hyperspace. Through the Capacitor a vessel can initiate jumps to hyperspace at a faster and more frequent rate.

This is of course extremely beneficial.

Transport ships find it simpler to escape pirates, military ships now have shorter stops, and patrol craft can more easily explore outer reaches of territory simply by jumping to different posts more frequently. Though the technology is hardly perfect, it will allow starships to better regulate their travel through hyperspace.
