Lok and Load: Stormtrooper War Games (OS Only)

PCgBpsol.jpg

Location: Morpho Imperial Center on the Planet Lok
Objective: To be the Last Man Standing in Commander Temi's Stormtrooper War Games

Commander Temi had been busy renovating an old Imperial Outpost on the planet Lok. Lok was a desert biome in the Outer Rim with little to offer in terms of resources, wildlife or even trade. The Hapan officer didn't mind the planet's stark and unforgiving landscape. It suited her goal of creating a state-of-the art training facility for her stormtroopers and to be able to conduct activities of her choosing away from the direct gaze of Imperial Command.

On a swoop bike race track which was the site of the annual Lok Marathon, this Commanding Officer of the Blood Monarchs assembled her platoon for a Major Field Exercise with new trainees and Sith acolytes alike.

The troopers were sent instructions ahead of time so they would know what to expect from the War Games.

"Troopers your assignment is as followed:

Once you land on the surface and reach the Morpho Imperial Center you are to first arm yourself with imperial-issued weapons and armor from the Morpho armory (see the section under the header "Equipment")

Then when you are sufficiently suited for battle meet Commander Temi outside of the Morpho gates.

The race course features a few key positions which will factor into the exercise:

POINT ONE (Eastern side of racecourse)

The Great Maze of Lok
Mount Chaolt – an active volcano with lava crevices and tar pits

POINT TWO (Western side of racecourse)

• Spine Snake River
The Kedarin Highlands

When your Commanding Officer gives the order you will sprint from Smuggler’s Bend, scale the Great Wall, and then meet at the base of Mount Chaolt (running time: 10 minutes). Once everyone has grouped at the volcano, you will split into two teams:

Team One:
[member="Tain Organa"]
[member="Cylus Jest"]

Team Two:
[member="Lucullus Lacar"]
[member="TJ-1467 Jay"]

Staying together as a team you will then race to either Point One or Point Two. Once at your respective points, your teams will fight each other using the standard weapons and armor from the armory as well as anything you can find within the landscape. Nothing within your surroundings is out of bounds. Then you will attempt to eliminate the other team by incapacitation, imprisonment, forcing surrender or bodily harm. Use of The Force will be limited to defense only. If any participant is severely wounded, the Commander will halt the games momentarily and put you right into a bacta tank in the Morpho Center medical facilities.

Once the opposing team is eliminated, then you will face your teammate as an adversary. If you are the last man standing, you will win the War Games. Commander Temi has a special prize for the winner of this training exercise.

For the esteemed audience members there will be bleachers with sufficient shade and beverages for your enjoyment where you can relax and watch the action.

The Commander herself will be situated in a covered, armored speeder with a loudspeaker so she can course-correct the training exercise if required.
Her eight Mirari bodyguard droids will be stationed around her as well as twenty other additional hover droids for protection.

Best of luck to all participants.

The Demon's Fist was dressed in Imperial Marine armor, the armor of his elite unit. He was armed with plenty of gadgets and devices, including his own two lightsabers. Another Marine, Captain Nexu (Subbed NPC), was also accompanying him, as soldiers were always seen with one other comrade.

He and the Captain, dressed as Marine bodyguards, sat by [member="Tmoxin Temi"] on speeders. Their sole purpose was to protect her at all costs, and that is what they would do. They both held standard-issue rifles, but they were also equipped with a small arsenal of concealed weaponry. If someone was to go for the commander, they'd have to get past her deadly guards first.

Tain stood at the beginning of the race, dressed in what passed for One Sith physical training gear. She smoothly bent in stretches, followed by some quick warm up exercises. She didn't feel that she needed it, she was in excellent shape, but it was always best to prepare when given the opportunity. She looked around at the other contestants, sizing them up for strengths and weaknesses. She knew that she looked fairly small compared to the 'other' troopers in the competition, she knew things that they couldn't. Yes, she was a Sith and a Sith Assassin to boot, but when she normally walked around in 'Sith Mode' she wore body concealing robes and a mask. She was debating on continuing the charade, though the point might be moot if she had to resort to using the Force during the competition. Which she would if she had to, it wouldn't do to have an assassin bested by troopers.

She walked over to the start line and continued warming up her muscles while she waited for the start of the race.

Cylus Jest

Servant of the Inquisition
Cylus stepped out of the gates, wielding an E-11, standard weapon for the Stormtroopers. He was also wearing his armor, some might have thought that was foolish, especially given the race portion...but, in all honesty the race didn't matter at all.
Both parties had to be present at their points to engage in combat, so it didn't matter when he got there...he could take his sweet time.
And armor, well armor was just handy. Even if it was only the standard stuff they handed out.

He stepped over to a fellow contestant, they had been organized into teams of two. Cylus knew this was his teammate, he might as well introduce himself. [member="Tain Organa"]

"Greetings."

Cylus Jest said:
"Greetings."

Tain looked over at the trooper who introduced himself. She noted the unit insignia and rank on the armor and deduced that this would be her partner for part of the competition. She quirked an eyebrow at him for a moment, looking amused and thoughtful. Her mind whirred as it re set different aspects of the race that she had already gone over.

"Greetings, Mr. Jest I presume?" She looked from him to the other troopers and nodded towards the course. She spoke in a mildly reproachful tone, winking surretitiously so her partner knew it was in jest while the others would take it for real consternation. "You have given me a great idea. I assume you plan to take your time with the course, as you are already in armor?"

She waited for a nod, then continued, speaking in a softer tone so only her partner could hear her. "Excellent, I will move swiftly, it's what I do, and when I get to where my armor is, I will set my comm unit for channel 157 mark 87 on frequency Kesh. We can then coordinate your arrival to place you in a good spot to cover our rivals. We should be able to knock them out and get down to our own scrapping. What do you think?" She finished with a raised eyebrow in curiosity, this being expressive outside of her mas might prove very useful.

Despite what the rest of the galaxy thought: the Stormtroopers were the best. No amount of propaganda fed by the rebels, their loss at Endor, nor the other times bad luck has befallen them will ever be able to surpass their unholy might. They were a white armored gauntlet shielding the sun from the eyes of the Dark Lord. They could salute in respect, shake hands in cooperation, or curl into a fist to give some rebellious nutcase a broken nose along with a lifetime of boredom inside of a detention cell.

Darth Vader had specifically told him and his brothers long ago to uphold such traditions. Even with that cyborg of a man long gone, the ethos held true today within Jay himself and the half dozen other blue-clad Stormtroopers around him. They were war games - and war was never waged by a single man. A fist couldn't be a fist without five fingers. Jay and the rest of his 501st Legion boys stood silently at the starting line. Each had their own weapon set customized to their individual positions and tastes.

Jay was the commander, E-11 cradled in his arms like it was some precious child of his. Several thermal detonators and other gear was stashed on his utility belt and in his armored backpack. A few others carried similar rifles, albeit with more attachments like grenade launchers. One carried a heavy repeater. Another fielded an E-11S sniper rifle, adorned in blue-striped Scout armor.

"Ready?" His deep voice inquired.

A few head nods and clicks over their secure communications frequency told him all he needed.

To her troops, especially the fresh recruits, it may have seemed that the Commander was too precious to stand on the same ground as her soldiers and well, she was an Imperial Officer after all. But despite her haughty and somewhat arrogant demeanor, Tmoxin normally would be embedded among her platoon with little reservation.

To the audience, the fact that she was all but hidden in a speeder, would seem par for the course. An Imperial Officer was used to a grand measure of protection. But inside Tmoxin knew why she was encased in blaster-proof material. As far as she was aware her bounty was still at one million credits and she was absolutely terrified of being captured and dragged into the Red Ravens headquarters to be tortured, executed and sent to the bottom of an Antecedant lake. Plus it was better to not be seen lest her cowardice show. Of course, the act of being tucked away in the landspeeder probably didn't send a strong message of bravery but at least no one could read the blatant fear on the Commander's face.

To get over the inconvenience of commanding these games from the speeder interior she had installed cameras which gave her a good look at the racecourse from all sides. She would also be able to address her troops through a commlink which was hooked up to the racecourse loudspeaker system.

Team One had already assembled outside of the Morpo gates. "Kudos, Team One," she said and they would hear her voice coming out of the loudspeaker. "Punctuality is the sign of a high performer."

She also saw half of Team Two. The final participant was her new Sergeant-Major Lucullus Lacar, a Hapan like herself who she was eager to meet.

Keeping within eyesight of both [member="Tmoxin Temi"] and the rest, Ferus kept his distance rather clear. As an Assassin, his only mission was surprisingly the opposite of the norm. This.. Temi, a Hapan, was a valuable asset to the One Sith, and with the bounty on her head she was going to need some protection. His mission was simple, find any who would attack the female, and end them before they captured her.

Dressed in his usual armor, the Sith Lord would keep to the shadows, one hand always resting on the hilt of his lightsaber. If something was going to happen, he was completely ready to spring in and put down what ever wasn't planned.

Cylus listened to [member="Tain Organa"] . After she was done speaking he waited, considering the advantages of the plan.
It was a good idea, but Cylus kicked himself for not havinh a better one. Oh well, her plan it was.

Cylus turned, giving a nod of approval to the idea.

And then he turned back, casting a gaze over to Commander [member="Tmoxin Temi"] or rather her speeder. He shifted his gaze once more to the track in front of them...boy, was running places in a suit of armor going to be a joy or what.

Max sat in the sparsely populated bleachers as the announcements were being made and the competitors were getting into place. His eyes were hidden behind a pair of sunglasses that doubled as video recorder. The Agent was there to scout for potential cadets for service within Imperial Intelligence.

The service droid brought by a tray and Max took a water before waving it off unenthusiasticly.

At a distance, ocular lenses clicked over one another beneath the honeycomb pattern of a pilot's helm. An AI ran skin-deep analytics over the collection of figures at the starting line, observing and recording base statistics like height, weight, armament and the like.

Lucullus Lacar turned a dial located on the side of his helmet and the honeycomb pattern receeded, allowing a clear viewing port; the Hapan's face clearly visible now. His eyes darted skyward as he walked toward the start line, a sparkle in the sky the only reminder his Takyon was with him.

Lacar approached the line, sizing up the individuals around him - particularly the group of stormtroopers - with silent consideration, doing away with cyberoptics and the Adjutant AI to inspect each with his own eyes.

To inspect him would be to discover one who may seem a little under prepared; still contained in his flight suit - using it as a lighter, more maneuverable alternative to full armour - and pilots helmet, albeit supplanted by plastoid plates 'borrowed' from stormtroopers armour from the armoury, and sporting an E-11 blaster slung from his back and a pair of SE-14s in hip-holsters.

Arriving in line with his competitors, Lucullus stood to attention with his arms clasped in the small of his back, his head occasionally shifting to the side to briefly inspect the others.

Commander Temi noticed the new Monarchs officer, [member="Lucullus Lacar"] getting into position with the rest of the troops. She wanted to personally greet him, but checking her chrono, also wanted to keep the training exercise on a precise schedule.

"All participants are here and ready!" she barked out into the loudspeaker. "When I say the word, you are to sprint to the Old Great Wall, climb it and then make your way to the bottom of the volcano. There you will see two flags for each team. The first one to Mount Chaolt gets to take a flag and go establish the base for your team either on the eastern side or western side of the racecourse."

"Good luck troopers." And then without warning, the Hapan officer said, "On your mark, get set and GO!"

Without pause, on the very syllable of the word GO, Tain took off running. She made it to the base of the Great Wall and didn't slow, turning her momentum upward with a leap. She used her feet only for a few steps up the wall before grasping with her hands and climbing. She kept up a dogged pace, every part of her constantly moving. When her left arm was pulling, her right leg was pushing and her right arm and left leg were reaching for the next holds. She kept her breaths deep and even, pulling and pushing her way up the wall. Working like a rock spider in its natural habitat, Tain made it up the wall and rolled over the lip. She came up from the roll into a run again, this one more measured, but still swift. Being encumbered by only the blaster rifle she had slung across her back, Tain had made it up the wall first and for the moment she was alone on the plateau above it. Ahead of her she saw the point where the flags were. She grabbed one of the flags and turned west, toward the Kedarin Highlands. It was the furthest point from any part of the other teams side and offered a fairly flat, open plain around them. They would be able to see anyone coming up on their position.

As she ran she pulled the communicator out of her waist band and tuned it to the frequency she had told their team to use.

"Lightning to Thunder. We are heading to the western portion of the facility. Marked as Kedarin Highlands on your maps. I will set up in what appear to be some abandoned buildings on the outside edge of the racetrack." She slipped the earbud out of the communicator and into her ear as she ran, then slid the communicator home onto her waistband. When she got to the buildings she had stated, she scouted them out for a minute, then decided to place their flag on the roof of the tallest building, offering the greatest view of the surrounding area. She then assumed a seated firing position, keeping her eyes peeled for both her team and any of the enemy.

When [member="Cylus Jest"] and their Dark Storm squad arrive, she will move to the trooper who is carrying the armor she had picked out. She would then swiftly, and expertly assemble the armor on her person, leaving the helmet off for the moment. She would briefly touch the blaster rifle at her back, then put her hand on her flag and waited.

Cylus jogged along, it wasn't a sprinting speed like [member="Tain Organa"] had pulled off but it was reasonable enough for what he was doing. Besides, armor was heavy and uncomfortable and generally just not very good for running.
But that was alright, the buzz in his commlink had spat out instructions. Apparently they were setting up in some buildings near some sort of...Highlands.

He reached the wall and began to climb with the help of a grapple on his E-11, after going over the top he continued on at a gradual pace, sweat building up inside the suit of white armor which...at least it was white, it certainly helped dispel a little heat.

He thought he could see the Highlands off a little bit in the distance and he began to jog towards them.

Teams, right. Well, Jay didn't particularly care to associate with anyone or any other Stormtrooper not adorned in the blue stripes of the 501st Legion. It was simply to just be himself and the four other elite troopers that lugged along in tow. Once the command to start was sounded, the other teams and the miscellaneous personnel began sprinting. For Jay and his boys, it was just like taking a nice and easy stroll through the park. No jogging, but they weren't lollygagging around either. Each one had a little pep in their step, intended to cover some ground but keep their energy in high supply.

"Scale the wall. Buddy teams, boys." His secure helmet channel crackled.

"Roger," came the reply from Todd's end.

As such, the Stormtroopers split up into two pairs with Jay supervising. They launched their grappling hooks while the second of each duo remained behind to either cover their shebs or stabilize the line. One they were at the top, the roles would swap until Jay was the last one on the ground, making his steady ascent.

Then it was the same for the other side. It was always nice to pace yourself. Not even the extreme heat of Lok could penetrate their armor, so the Commander was just peachy sliding down that rope. Once they'd all regrouped on the opposite side of the wall, they started trekking - trailing after the other teams with the confident air that only experienced infantrymen could give off.

Following the loudspeaker's bark, Lucullus dropped his previous airs of elegance and posture, and began running. His legs settled into long strides, taking him quickly towards the first obstacle, the wall.

The extra plastoid plating he'd secured to his suit was a hindrance he wasn't usually accustomed to; altering his running gait to make them sit more comfortably, he thought that a little irritation now would be well made up for by the time blaster bolts were flying at him later.

Lucullus slowed his approach as he neared the wall, E-11 already off his back and aiming up his own grappling hook mid-run, launching it upwards just as he jumped and put his first foot against the vertical surface, lifting his other foot up above it as he felt the line go taut to begin his ascent. Conserving his momentum certainly helped the speed of his climb, making it over the wall fairly quickly and rappelling down the other side, disconnecting the grapple and kicking off the wall in one fluid motion to resume his pace on solid ground.

He fell into pace with the squad of stormtroopers he had been teamed with, eyeing up each and their respective equipment before his gaze settled on the one that was evidently their commander. He gained what little information he could through eye sight alone and then faced frontward again, settling into an easy jog.

The honeycomb pattern covered the face of Lacar's helmet again as the pilot twisted a dial, a waypoint already appearing on his HUD as the tactical overlay re-appeared.

In her armored speeder, the hover droids trailing her in orderly lines, Tmoxin stationed herself at the base of Mount Chaolt. Even in the confines of the military speeder she could smell the sulfuric pools from the nearby volcano.

From the loudspeaker the war games contestants would hear Commander Temi say, "Nearly everyone is here at the base. Go on and make your way to your respective points. You can stay together, you can separate. I don't even care if you all go to the same point but the objective is to stay in your team until you eliminate the opposing team. Once the opposing team is eliminated, it's last man standing!"

She looked at the audience for a moment and then added. "Remember this is supposed to be a fair fight so please stick to the normal Rules of Engagement for war."

Tmoxin did not actually care if the "Rules of Engagement" were followed. But it would be an interesting social experiment to see who followed them and who did not.
