Description:The X-37 had performed well, however during the test flights it showed that under repeated heavy stress, the pivot points for the engines would lock up. This led him back to the drawing board with the intent to simply change the mounting to a fixed one. Given that he tended to sketch new ideas while trying to find a solution that wouldn't involve tearing the fighter apart to fix one design flaw, but in the end found himself surrounded by balled up sketches and failed ideas on a fix. Realizing that the ship was going to have to be torn apart anyways he decided to simply go ahead and redesign it from the ground up. This was the result.

Borrowing from the design of the iconic X-Wing/Z95 series of craft from the main hull shape he pulled a page from Theed Royal Hangars as well utilizing a front mounted engine array. Though the design radically changed, the materials were re-purposed, with the exception of the weaponry. The cockpit is fully enclosed and utilizes the same materials as the hull in its construction, all relevant tactical data is projected on a panoramic display inside the cockpit, however should the sensors be knocked offline then there will be no visibility of the battlefield until they are brought back online. This would however incorporate four Sossen-3 ion drives, each one customized for maximum thrust and maneuverability. To aid with maneuvering there are etheric rudders placed to act as stabilizers while also serving to provide a boost to the fighter's already impressive maneuverability. In addition the number of weapons were reduced from 6 to 2. This lead to an increase in overall combat ability however as the laser cannons were switched for a pair of heavy repeating electromagnetic plasma cannons. While the focus is still on destroying enemy fighters, this did open up the possibility of attacking ground targets, though to do so is still dangerous due to the sheer speed of the craft in a dive as well as the area of effect of the cannons being more apt to hit friendlies. Explosions do not discriminate. While the overall firepower was greater a sacrifice was forced to maintain the fire rate. Each of the two electromagnetic plasma cannons was only half as powerful as a single mount would have been, but compensated by having the ability to fire at a greater rate for a longer period of time leading each weapon to have the firepower of four standard laser cannons.

As it was supposed to be a redesign built from the scrapped fighter that was the intent. In terms of power I would hazard about twice as powerful, given them being heavy repeaters.
I'm hesitant to approve something with so much raw destructive power, as the originals alone would wipe out platoons of soldiers with a single hit or tear through heavy capital armor. It sounds like this are upgraded in strength from even that already impressive firepower.I think we have two basic options going forward with this.

1) Have a single, basic electromagnetic plasma cannon (like the original Umbara) and another one or two other weapons.

2) Have multiple electromagnetic plasma cannons, but write in the description that each one of these is NOT as powerful as the original weapon.

This seems somewhat confusing to me. To clarify, if the each cannon is half as powerful as the original, then two of them together would be equal to the original in terms of rough power. Yet it can fire at a greater rate for a longer period of time, which actually makes its damage output greater than the original electromagnetic plasma cannon found on the Umbaran starfighter.

If I am understanding this correctly, this is potentially doable, with the understanding that this can only be a minor damage increase (like two laser cannon's worth). My concern here again is vaguely describing an increased strength of an already very powerful weapon.

Apologies, had to edit quickly earlier. Added:

By my understanding that would be in line with a 2 point increase from the ship this was salvaged from.

I would accept that though, as it looks that it would be roughly equal to your last version of your ship in terms of firepower.
