Description:

The IDA is a new take on what was once Baktoids XR-22 Sensor Distortion Array. This system utilizes a massive dish array that emits bursts of intense radiation and sensor dampening signals to distort the heat signature, magnetic signature and electronic signatures of multiple ships within a fleet. This allows the array to distort the signatures of up to ten ships in close proximity with the ship carrying it, making them appear up to two classes lower than their actual status. This means that a star destroyer can be made to show up on enemy sensors as a frigate; while a frigate could be made to show up as a Starfighter or small corvette.

On the flip side, the array can also be used to increase the class of a ship on enemy sensors. By amplifying enemy sensor pings and emitting microwave radiation; this array can increase the heat and electromagnetic signatures picked up by enemy sensors. Up to five ships in close proximity can made to appear on sensors as up to two classes higher than their actual status. Meaning Frigates can appear as Star Destroyers and Star Destroyers can appear as massive Flagships. In the end, however, ships can only appear as small as ten meter long fighter craft or as large as a 4,000 meter long vessel.

There are major downfalls to this system however. Due to the range that this array was meant to cover, the ship using it must place the massive satellite array on the hull of its ship. This array is then extremely vulnerable to enemy weapons fire that can damage the system with little more than starfighter laser cannon fire if shields have been taken down. The other downfall is the amount of energy taken to use this array. The power consumption limits the use of this system to electronic warfare dedicated craft, usually meaning that only defense batteries can be used on the ship in question.

Atop of this, only ships of 800 meters or more can carry this system. The size and power consumption are simply too much for a smaller ship to handle, thus it is impossible for them to properly use.

So this is 10/5X better than the original, granted it can't be used in conjunction with capitol guns, but here is the issue I see.

It is better in just about better in every way, it can be thrown on a freighter as written, and can completely cloak corvettes and starfighters. The old one could only be placed on cruisers or larger and only effected themselves, so really my biggest issue is defining the smallest something can be seen as and the largest, defining what size ships it can be placed on.

Once those issues are cleared up we will advance from there based on your edits.

Alright, last two things. This has an approved sub as back up, so it isn't too bad.

Does this mean those are the only weapons that can be on the ship in the first place, or the only ones active at the same time.

And can both increase/decrease be 5 ships.

Nope it means that only defensive guns can be on the ship period

As for the difference of how many can be decreased as a pose to increased, my thinking for that was that it would be more difficult to make something look bigger than to make it look smaller with some interference which is much less taxing than having to put out that extra heat and amplify signals, etc.

You have added "Baktoid Fleet Ordnance" to your sub as a manufacture.

Is this Baktoid Fleet Ordnance under Baktoid?

If so, that company no longer exists as it had merged its products with Ty'rel -- which turned into Saiba Group.

With that in mind, how did you acquire the Chaos created designs to upgrade the sensor array?

If memory serves, canon companies cannot be owned as subsidiaries by any company unless there is a canon reference of them being owned by another canon company. So, while baktoid might have merged its products into what is now Saiba Group, Baktoid itself is still reasonably operational as an NPC company. There is no rule against making things through NPC companies.

Therefore I think it is logical to reason that this now NPC owned Baktoid, or what used to be baktoid, is still operational and has the know-how to make technologies that they made under Alli's supervision. Since this technology is based off of the old tech, but uses different methods to achieve a similar albeit greater effect, it is not infringing upon Saiba Group's rights to the old tech.

Actually Baktoid merged it's entire product line into Ty'rel and then renambed Saiba group; it wasn't a subsidiary, it actually merged two companies into one, releasing the "baktoid" name but not the rights to the products.

It is only recently that Saiba group released it's SW canon affiliation with Baktoid in a company modification -- but the Chaos canon tech Saiba group kept, which also includes the original subbed Advanced Distortion array.

By all intents and purposes, it is still owned by Saiba group.

As such, do you have a development chain of ic events to show you gathering this tech to upgrade to a second generation? I honestly am okay with you creating it if you want to -- you'll just have to understand that IC consequences would follow with Saiba group were they to find out.

So that still means Baktoid is an NPC company at the moment. Because from what it sounds like, Baktoid as a company has nothing to do with the current Saiba Group except for the fact that Saiba Group owns its old tech.

Just because something is based off an idea (in this case making ships look larger or smaller on sensors) that doesn't mean that rights to tech are being violated. Its the same concepts as their being multiple different phone service providers or smart phones. In fact, the techs use different means to achieve the same goal.

But to make things easy I'm just going to change the manufacturer to Imperial Arms and give it a name change with a reference stating that it is their take on this piece of equipment.
