Description:

With the coming hostilities and the poor state of Republic arms and equipment currently in use, new weapons, armor, and ships were required. With the backing of the Senate, government backed corporations, and under the order of the Supreme Chancellor, the Republic military was rearmed and resupplied with more modern equipment.

The first of these new weapons was the VLR-5 Assault Blaster. Nicknamed the “Valor” blaster, the VLR provides a reliable, durable, and powerful assault weapon for the standard Republic soldier in the field. The weapon has excellent stopping power and is very user friendly. The weapon is accurate and is capable of the long ranges high quality weapons of its class are capable of. The VLR-5 is also highly balanced, meaning that the rifle is easy to move around and bring on target as well as more able to manage recoil from semi and full automatic fire modes. Finally, the weapon is very quick and easy to reload as the power pack is located in the stock of the weapon, meaning soldiers can remove and replace the power pack with relative ease when compared to regular rifles. Overall, the VLR-5 is the best choice to replace an aging infantry weapon system within the Republic Military.

The system isn’t without its faults, however. The weapon’s magazine size is only average for a standard blaster of its size and the range, while substantial, is only effective to the individual soldier’s individual skill. Also, while the power pack is located in the stock of the weapon, the tibanna gas canister is located in the front of the rifle, making its reloading speed the standard when compared to other rifles. Lastly, the while the weapon features many attachments and modifications allowing it to fulfill multiple roles such as sniper rifles and LMGs, it is not able to be fully upgraded to the equivalent standard as weapons in those roles due to weapon power, range, and size limits.

Are you aware that this is a projected energy weapon? It projects a small pocket of plasma contained in an ionized shell. Simply firing this should fry the wielder and everyone within several meters. A near miss would vaporize matter to the atomic level. I'm afraid I can't allow this. It's powergaming.
