Visions of Future Past

Kuat

Sirada tapped his staff against the ground as he walked along, blind as could be. Still, he saw everything through the Force. It was all there, to him at least. He saw through buildings, into rooms. A man and a woman were making violent love in one room. In another, a woman smacked her child so hard it fell to the ground. He ignored both and continued to walk. They weren't the reason he was there. Only one reason had called him to Kuat.

He'd had a vision.

The Prophet walked until he came to the Nebula Orchid. Pausing, he watched a young woman, a Hapan noble, walk inside, escorted by a couple of guards. He reached out through the Force, and closed the door behind the woman before the guards could walk in. They weren't supposed to be there.

Inside, blaster shots. Screams. People rushed for the door, pounded on it. The guards pounded on it. He kept the door closed until the exact moment he had seen, and then he opened it before walking away.

The noble was dead inside.

It would be hours later before the news reached the ears of the Kuati Sovereign. Upon arrival at her Manor in the sprawling hillsides of Kuat, she was greeted by a retinue of guards. Now it wasn't unusual for the Guards of her home to be congregated for change in shift or meetings, but the number on this evening was something out of the ordinary. The Lady's eyes narrowed as she walked up the side entrance to her home.

"Captain..." she greeted the man as he stepped forward, green eyes whisking past him to glance at his collection of underlings, "something I should know?"

"Lady Lorelei, we've stepped up security this evening. There's been a shooting at the Nebula Orchid. At least one casualty reported."

"Really..." the Kuati Sovereign glanced around, giving his boys a sidelong look and moment of consideration, "I see. Very well, carry on." She strode past and into the manor, looking back as she heard the Captain following on her heels.

"My Lady, I realize the hour is late and I apologize but there's a bit of an issue."

"Be blunt, Captain, I'm tired," she returned, her pace never slowing as she made her way down the hall.

"The casualty of the shooting was a young Hapan noblewoman. Her family has been informed and are on their way. The perpetrators have been caught ..." he seemed wary to press on but did so after a short breath, "the Head of her family have requested a word with you upon their arrival. They're quite upset."

"Imagine that, an upset Hapan..." she muttered over a sigh and came to a stop, finally, "what is their ETA?"

"Little less than an hour, My Lady. I have a transport ready for you."

Lady Lorelei's lips drew thin as she looked at the Captain. Of course she didn't really need sleep, but that wasn't for him to know. For all he knew, she'd been out at meetings all day and was absolutely exhausted. Looking weary, she nodded to him and without skipping a beat the Captain lead the way back outside to the waiting shuttle.

Always such unpleasantness.

He walked a lonely path. Only when Sable was with him did he feel that he had a place in this galaxy. She made him feel as no one would ever be able to make him feel, and that was something he could never do without. She wasn't with him, though. She was somewhere else doing what she needed to do. He didn't fault her for that, but he still had work.

Footsteps carried him along the street. For all anyone knew, he'd just happened to be a blind man standing outside of the place where the Hapan was killed. After all, a blind man could not see to do anything, and he didn't carry any weapons to mark him as a Force user.

There was something that gave him pause, though. He felt something strange. Not really something, but someone. He didn't understand it. Someone was there that somehow had a draw to him. He stopped walking and got run over by a fat Nautolan that looked like it had been away from home for far too long for its own good. It helped him back to his feet, though. Manners were something of an oddity, but he was grateful.

Turning, the way he'd come from, he started walking. He felt drawn to this person, and he was going to find out why.

The wait for the Hapan's parents would prove to be quite tiresome for the Kuati Sovereign, but as always the woman found a way to pass the time. Sirada's presence had not escaped her noticed, though the boy had managed to travel beneath her radar for some time. Flustered by this but only for a moment, when the flame-haired woman departed her shuttle at the scene she excused the Guards to their job and stood in wait for this strange new curiosity slowly making its way to meet her. She made no move herself, but the invitation was clear. Sirada could feel the pull of her presence on his mind as if being lead by a will that was not his own.

She followed his progress with patience and when the boy finally came into sight Silencia felt her curiosities piqued ever more. Aside from his visible blindness there was a unique quality to his essence that struck her as oddly ... familiar. She couldn't place why yet, but time was with her as it always had been.

"There has been a murder," the woman spoke casually as she let her gaze wander beyond him and to the skyline, "very troubling..."

Is it troubling?

It hadn't taken him long to find her, thanks to the guidance. Not that it would have been hard, either way. He could feel the draw to her like his own body was craving to be near to her. He didn't know why that was, but he didn't want her to touch him. He didn't like to be touched. The very possibility of being touched sent shivers down his spine and he shook them away as he stopped a little distance from her.

He could see her through the Force. Beautiful. Red hair. Powerful. Her aura spoke of great experience beyond anything he'd seen of anyone outside of his mother and father. Who knew where they were, or if they were even alive. Everything was different here as it was.

I don't find it troubling. The will of the Force was done. I find no problem with this.

He continued to stare at her from behind the blindfold.

Who are you? I feel like I know you, but I don't.

"Death is always troubling to someone," the woman replied, head head canting to one side as she considered this boy. His choice, or perhaps his need, to use Force Telepathy was of certain note. Silencia of course was no stranger to the skill having used it most all of her life, but the majority of her conversations had with fellow Force Users, with the exception of those she was already acquainted with, rarely ever began in such a manner, though they almost always ended that way.

"I am Lady Lorelei Shamalain, the Sovereign of this planet and CEO of the Kuat Drive Yards. I would say you may recognize my face from the holonet but..." well, it was quite obvious that he wouldn't. She smiled, but it was not a terribly friendly smile, "and, you are?"

Perhaps people should learn to accept death for what it is: part of life. I have already accepted mine. When the time comes, I will go without resistance.

He watched her through the Force, studied her aura. So familiar, yet so different. He felt like reaching out to touch her would bring himself more in tune with everything around him, but he could not bring himself to do such a thing. Then she said her name and he blanched just a little bit. He knew that name. He knew that name because he'd researched it in his thirst for more knowledge. But she was supposed to be gone...

For a few moments his hands just tightened and loosened around the staff he held. He didn't quite know how to say what she was asking of him, but he knew enough to speak the truth, and the whole truth, when it came to this woman.

I am Sirada. Like my twin sister, Sable, I am the offspring of a man named Meric Nadun and a woman commonly called Quietus. I believe you know her, or should. Just as you should be able to tell that I am Force Born.
