PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Valaine by all accounts looks human, albeit very pale. Standing at a relatively short height she is also rather slim and light, which makes her look rather frail and delicate. Her eyes are grey and often appear tired like she had slept poorly for several consecutive days. Her lips are a soft natural pink tone and her face is framed by black straight hair that cascades down her back. Upon much closer scrutiny it would be revealed that she has elongated canines, practically fangs, which would betray the fact that she isn't entirely human.

She moves in a manner that could only be referred to as 'exhausted elegance'. While she puts in some effort to compose herself in a graceful light she likewise seems very tired of it, like there was some annoyed hesitance with the way she moved, done in such a fashion that is not unlike someone who for a moment started breathing manually and got annoyed at it. She is soft-spoken but clear in her voice, taking care to speak in a way that is easily understood.

In terms of attire there isn't much to say. She's often just wearing loose fabrics that cover her lithe form, always in shades of gray and black and never adding color to her muted palette. All her clothes typically have some form of hood or cloak however, providing her with even more concealment. The clothes she wears may hide her slim and fragile looking body with some ease.

INVENTORY

N/A for now.

PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS

Valaine is a person who takes interest in very little, or at least she comes off that way. She is a reserved sort when left to her own devices but if pushed to interact with others she comes off as confident, perhaps arrogant, in opposition to them. She's a very self-centered person with a generally nihilistic view on things as a whole. She cares little for the troubles and woes of others and would tell you that she considers herself to have no friends, though she'd never admit it if she did have any. So long as she isn't directly challenged she might be considered generally easy to get along with because of her general disinterest.

She holds no personal beliefs save for that of her own continued survival, and will do much to ensure that she continues to survive. Morals don't hold her back, but neither is she stupid or wasteful. For example; when a foe is defeated there is little sense to her in dealing the finishing blow when instead that person could return stronger and she can continue to grow stronger through their defeat once again; killing them would be robbing herself of another stepping stone on her path to power. Despite that, she is not a pacifist and has no qualms with killing if she really needs to.

As a side note, she doesn't seem entirely aware of what she is, that being Sangnir. She knows how to survive as one, and that she has certain strengths and weaknesses, but not much else.

STRENGTHS

  • Deceptive Strength; Despite her frail and fragile appearance both her speed and strength are above the average for humans due to her nature as Sangnir. As a result she's rather more inclined towards melee combat which she seems to prefer, taking more interest in her training with lightsabers than other teachings. Her inclinations to melee combat may surprise some foes.
  • Mentally Hardened; Due to her past as an unfortunate child Valaine has grown and survived in conditions that naturally strengthened her against trauma and fear. She is not easily shaken by tricks of the mind or swayed by manipulation both emotionally and mentally as a result.

- All strengths inherent to the Lowblood Sangnir.

WEAKNESSES

  • Weak in the Force; While being Force Sensitive Valaine is on the lower end of the spectrum. As a result her ability to wield the Force often lacks behind that of her peers; granting her considerably less chance to overpower other Force users with her own powers.
  • Strong in Arrogance; Valaine's confident arrogance is an easy way for her to underestimate others, leading to situations in which she's outclassed and outskilled, especially if she's challenged directly. These encounters can frustrate her and lead to more mistakes.

- All weaknesses inherent to the Lowblood Sangnir.

HISTORY

Valaine was born on Jutrand, growing up as just another faceless child amidst the masses. She had a relatively normal family; a hardworking mother and father who did their best to provide a good upbringing for their only daughter. But a good upbringing was going to be the last thing Valaine received, as around the age of 12 her parents were killed amidst a robbery within their own home. Valaine was in hiding during the events and didn't see who committed the murder, she only came out of hiding after the sounds had stopped. She found her parents dead, her home robbed of all that was valuable, and with no thought on what to do she remained. Growing up Valaine was emotionally stunted, she felt distress at what had happened, but she couldn't grieve and simply remained at a loss.

The next morning a visitor came, a rugged man that had come to scour the home for anything that hadn't already been taken. Upon noting the now orphaned child however, he saw an opportunity. He asked that Valaine come with him, that it wasn't safe, and without much recourse she accepted and followed. The rugged man was nothing short of a thief, a scavenger that stole from the recently dead. He saw value in having a child able to sneak and crawl into places he couldn't, and so his charity if it could be called that was well rewarded. Valaine herself was taken care of too, and while the rugged man was certainly no kind father, he did at least feed her and give her a place to sleep.

Through these years Valaine grew to understand the life of a petty criminal on a place like Jutrand, and as she grew older she continued to work alongside the rugged man who started to eventually cut her in on the money they'd make together. It wasn't a pleasant life, there was no luxury in it, but there was continued survival. She had long since stopped thinking about her parents, about what happened to them and who might've been to blame, and frankly she stopped caring about it. Vengeance? For who? Parents she could barely remember? This was her new life, this is who she was.

Or so she thought. At the age of sixteen on just another average night both Valaine and the rugged man broke into another home. It was a dark and dreary place, assumedly abandoned, but there may still be things of worth hiding within. As they searched the home Valaine heard a scream from the rugged man, and so she rushed to him and saw him upon the floor. Stood over him was the dark figure of a woman, blood dripping down her chin. The dark figure smiled when she took notice of Valaine and approached.

She can't recall what happened after that. She awoke somewhere else on Jutrand, somewhere she didn't recognize, and alone. From here on she was left by herself once more, to again pick up the pieces of another shattered life with no explanation for why the things that happened, happened. It didn't take her long to notice the changes within herself, the enhanced strength and speed, the hunger within her, how easily cuts and bruises would heal. The hunger was maddening at first, she didn't know how to sate it and more than once did she almost turn feral. But she continued to survive, she learned that blood staved off the craving within her, and she started to stalk the streets of Jutrand as Sangnir.

Being forced to come to terms with her new form by herself was difficult, and she still did not fully understand her strengths and weaknesses, and maybe she never will.

Some two years later and she had grown relatively accustomed to her nature, but her life of crime was going to throw one more wrench at her. Petty thievery at first, yes, but soon her nature forced her to assault others for their blood, and being as inexperienced as she was this often led to the demise of those she fed on. The body count was growing higher, the reports more frequent, eventually it had to catch up. She had discovered that the taste of blood was generally better the higher in society it came from, and so she started to hunt people of note, the sorts that wouldn't simply be forgotten if they went missing.

Soon enough Valaine found herself captured and imprisoned, waiting to answer for her crimes. But a new path opened up to her. While she was entirely unaware of it throughout most of her life, it was discovered that she had some minor force sensitivity. It was the slimmest potential that she might become useful, and so she was given a choice; spend the rest of her days in prison or have a chance at life in servitude to the Sith Order.

With her desire for survival ever at the front of her mind she was quick to accept, and so she was sent off to an academy and placed into the ranks of the acolytes, to be taught how to become something useful or simply die along the way. Servitude or death.
