OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To provide a homestead for Janick and her alchemical activities
- Image Credit: TVA Nouvelles by Perreault and Bussière (for both debits)
- Canon: N/A
- Links: Janick Beauchamp (its PC resident)
- Structure Name: Utapau Alchemy Castle
- Classification: Homestead/Workshop
- Location: Kessil, Fourth Moon of Utapau
- Affiliation: Utai Magic Circle
- Accessibility: Since the Fourth Moon of Utapau is sparsely populated, the moon is still wild; nevertheless, it is located in the outskirts of the only town of the Fourth Moon. It is open to the public
- Description: In contrast to Utapau proper, where the settlements are located underground, the Fourth Moon of Utapau is home to forested areas on the low-gravity surface, away from the otherwise common crevasses and canyons, with the half-acre yard ending where the native forests begin. The capital (and only significant settlement) of the Fourth Moon houses an entire neighborhood of luxury homes, called New Barkhesh, where upscale homes known in the realty circles of the galaxy as starter castles dot half-acre plots line up all the way. In this context, it is not surprising that some of the upper class in the Utapau system and beyond chose to live in the New Barkhesh neighborhood, with most of the residents that originated from off-system being former Barkhesh residents. Featuring 6850 square feet, or 636 square meters of livable space, the homestead is built in a fashion typical of Barkhesh château architecture.
The Fourth Moon of Utapau being sparsely populated, it allows peace and quiet for any resident wishing to live in the lap of luxury. On the right, from the main entrance, is a hangar large enough to house a X-Wing-sized ship and is used as such by Janick, with an elevator similar to those used on carriers to haul spare parts inside the hangar turret. With that said, the basement is home to an alchemy laboratory with the equipment to clean up and sterilize venipuncture equipment for the requisite demands of blood. Otherwise, it contains all the amenities one would come to expect of a home of that size: four bathrooms and a half, six bedrooms (four of which are used for additional equipment storage, the fifth one is used by the other resident witches of the Circle and the master bedroom being hers), a kitchen, a dining room and, of course, a living room, with the central tower on ground floor housing the storefront.
SECURITY: Low (generic alarm systems)
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Built by a Barkhesh-based developer, the mansion is part of a real estate development that sought to cater to the upper-middle classes of the Outer Rim that wanted to live in peace and quiet, complete with architectural landscaping, while still doing so in an affordable manner, and therefore make such a luxury item within range of more people than before. As with Barkhesh, the low cost of the materials and the minimalistic bureaucracy on the Fourth Moon of Utapau enabled the developers to get an entire neighborhood built on the Fourth Moon of Utapau for a fraction of the cost it would have on other planets in that corner of the Outer Rim, even when accounting for the use of local materials. Over time, this neighborhood was considered to be one of the areas of the sector where one could get what became known as McMansions on the cheap, with the neighborhood often featuring residents that made conspicuous use of their homes.
Janick initially took out a commercial mortgage to pay for the house, which also was her source of seed money to get the Circle started as a business, and then worked tirelessly to get merchandise sold so as to be able to repay the mortgage. In time she was able to repay the mortgage and currently the Circle has complete equity over the castle.
