To boldly alchemize what no one alchemized before

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a new drink for use in special operations
  • Restricted Missions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Lum
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Name: Utai Dry Pilsner
  • Manufacturer: Utai Magic Circle
  • Homeworld (optional): N/A
  • Production: Semi-Unique
  • Affiliation: Outer Rim Coalition PCs
  • Modularity: Yes: the size of the container and the base alcoholic beverage can be changed
  • Legal Status: Legal
  • Ingredients: Hops, hard water, Force-alchemy
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  • Classification: Alcoholic beverage
  • Method of Consumption: Orally, can be consumed multiple times
  • Average Life: Depending on the amount of lum consumed, 2-6 hours
  • Nutritional Value/Allergies/Side Effects/ Purpose: Normally it would have the nutritional value associated with regular lum; however, due to the Force-alchemy used on the drink, NFUs will be a lot more susceptible to allergies if further consumption is made, and also causing premature drunkenness and alcohol withdrawal with additional, ulterior consumption of alcoholic beverages.
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Force-alchemy-induced allergies/drunkenness
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
The Utai Dry Pilsner differs from other brands of lum because of its peculiar application of Force-alchemy, which is allergy-inducing. In addition, any prior or further dose of alcohol will make the person drinking it drunk much faster, provided that there is still alcohol in the user's bloodstream.

Strengths:
  • Consumers will be much more inclined to reveal sensitive information
  • Strong hops taste
Weaknesses :
  • Highly likely to cause premature drunkenness and alcohol withdrawal
  • Highly likely to cause allergic reactions upon consuming different alcohol products beforehand or afterward
  • Highly likely to cause stomach ulcers
  • Ineffective on inorganic species
  • Denser than normal lum brews (almost double the density of unalchemized lum)
  • Carrying a bottle of Utai Dry Pilsner can make someone easier to detect in the Force
  • Taste and alcoholic content varies depending on the base lum
  • Its allergic effects can be neutralized by someone using Detoxify Poison, Force-nullifiers or Force-light
DESCRIPTION
The proprietary alchemical process used by Utai Magic Circle makes it so that, so long as there is alcohol in the bloodstream, it makes people prematurely by amplifying the effects of drunkenness. As such, it will make extraction of sensitive data much easier to do on people that drink Utai Dry Pilsner, and also making people vomit, urinate or otherwise exhibit symptoms of acute drunkenness but does not amplify hangovers since the alchemical effects are specific to the immediate presence of alcohol in the user's bloodstream at the time of consumption. Also, the alchemy contained in the lum provokes allergic reactions. It also effectively limits the amount of alcohol one can drink due to the alchemy prematurely setting off the symptoms of drunkenness and alcohol withdrawal. However It is recommended that people take a serving of Utai Dry Pilsner before another alcohol drink for this reason.

Due to the alchemical process in use by Utai Magic Circle, the Utai Dry Pilsner carries all the usual weaknesses of dark side alchemy: the product is heavier than an equivalent unalchemized product and its dark side signature makes a person carrying a bottle of the lum easier to detect in the Force. It also limits the quantities of the lum that can be produced: the alchemical process forces the base lum to be pre-ordered prior to production. In turn, ordering the base drink beforehand makes it so that the actual taste of a Utai Dry Pilsner is highly dependent on the base drink. Also, no more than one half-barrel keg (7 standard cases of lum) may be brewed in a standard week.

Finally, two more notes of caution, regarding the Utai Dry Pilsner, regardless of what the base drink is: the usage of Force-nullifiers (like ysalamiri, Yuuzhan Vong, etc.) as well as of Force-light would remove the allergic effects.

A really cool concept, plus I support anything beer-related by default.
That being said, I do have some questions for you before I can stamp this.

It also limits the quantities of the lum that can be produced: the recipe calls for 2 ml of blood for each sixth-barrel keg (2 1/3 standard cases of lum), and also forces the lum to be pre-ordered prior to production. In turn, ordering the base drink beforehand makes it so that the actual taste of a Utai Dry Pilsner is highly dependent on the base drink.
  • How does this work together? Semi-unique implies only a few brews of lum ever were alchemized in this way, and once they run out, that's it. No more Utai dry pilsner.
However, the other quoted instances seem to imply that different brews of lum are being alchemized to various end results, which in turn implies a higher production.
  • Please clarify this.

  • This passage isn't problematic on its own, but it does assume only humans and near-humans will be affected by the drink in the allergy-inducing sense. Sufficiently different species won't have the same biology.
  • If this was your intention, then please add that the allergy portion of the sub will only affect humans and near-humans who are biologically similar to humans
  • If you intended the Utai dry pilsner to affect all organic species in this way, please omit the references to specific molecules and just leave it at 'allergy inducing'.

  1. Please link the manufacturing company in the Manufacturer field.
  2. How does this drink behave when exposed to some form of Force nullification (Ysalamiri, Yuuzhan Vong, etc.)?
  3. How does Force Light affect this drink?

@mention me with edits when you're done.

[member="Netherworld"] Would 7 standard cases of lum a week qualify for semi-unique status? (in one thread my character alchemized 1/3 as much in a single day)

Otherwise I just kept it to "allergy-inducing" along with other edits pertaining to Force-light and Force-nullifiers.

  • You need to remove the histamine references from the Description as well

  • This should be added under the Weaknesses field

That Semi-Unique is still a bit of a gray area for me because of the continued production, but I don't think it's problematic here.
Have fun with this, but please keep in mind that the final effects of the drink will still be determined by your writing partners.

Looks good otherwise, a really neat concept. :D

Approved, pending mentor approval.
