Unforgettable

One of the people of the CIS sought her attention and reached out to her once he learned she was a mentalist. He desired to learn how to defend himself against mental skills and practically demanded a duel to happen.

In their communication, Jairdain made it clear to him that when doing a mental duel there was the chance of damage being done. He was adamant about it and accepted her terms.

Her most comfortable dwelling was on Iridonia. Here she had lived the longest and had to rebuild her home twice due to a single bounty hunter coming after her on two separate instances. She persisted though and grew from her experiences.

Inviting him to her home, she now waited on him to show up.

Akabane walked down a rough path these days. Not one where he fought battles constantly, he'd enjoy that more honestly, but one that affected his mental state. For a warrior... staying like he was would prove to be a problem. Thankfully he may have found a solution, an ally. Well, he declared that this was the only solution — contacting a mentalist.

He believed this was something needed to be done for a stronger Akabane to appear. A battle with his mind and hers. She mentioned damage would be possible in their little mental duel. Akabane didn't care. Something had to happen for him to go on with his life. Be it damage or good results, he didn't mind.

In his ship, he headed to the coordinates given. The planet was Iridonia and a foreign one to him. Unfortunately he'd never had the chance to travel there. Starting out on Kro Var, then Naboo, and wherever the CIS sent him. Akabane would step out of the ship as soon as he landed. The usual greeting included a smile but he couldn't bring himself to give an expression like that just yet. "Hello. I'm Akabane of the CIS." he called out.

Hearing the arrival of his ship at her small homestead, Jairdain stood up and greeted him at the door.

"Akabane, I am Jairdain Ismet of the Silver Jedi and Commenor. Are you sure you're prepared for this?"

He didn't appear to be ready to her, but she had been wrong before. The thought of her duel with Lykos brought a phantom pain to her head where a scar and bonding had been left within her mind. A bond that would go away upon the death of either of them.

She invited him by stepping aside to allow him to enter her house. It being where she lived the most when she was away from Commenor, it was quite comfortable. It looked and felt like a home. Built from the ground up, there was a sense of her about the place.

"What training do you have?"

[member="Akabane Jarvik"]

The young lady had heard him and stood at her home's door. Then she introduced herself and asked if he was prepared. No, he wasn't. Going up against Jairdain would be very challenging. "You're the second Jedi from the Silver Jedi that I've met, Miss Ismet. It's a pleasure." he before a pause, thinking about the question. "I'm weak. I'll do anything to regain my strength."

Jairdain invited him inside her house. As she stepped aside and permitted him to enter, Akabane nodded before moving forward through the door way. The insides were like any normal house. He didn't have many friends that were Jedi so he wasn't sure what to expect. Jairdain asked another question. She asked what training he had. "I can use telekinesis effectively, my skills with a blade could be better, and close quarters combat is preferred." he said wondering if he left out anything.

[member="Jairdain"]

"Who was the first you met? You are the first from the CIS I've met."

While Jairdain didn't often live or stay with the Silvers, she knew many of members. Listening to his answer and learning he knew nothing of mental combat, yet wanting to duel her, she shook her head slightly. However, he had a couple things he was better at than she was and that was physical fighting in general.

"My dominant focus has been on being a mentalist and know only a little of armed combat. I know nothing about close quarters or hand to hand combat. However, that's not why you are here is it?"

Taking a seat in one of her chairs, she offered Akabane the couch.

"Do you know how to meditate?"

[member="Akabane Jarvik"]

The first Jedi that he met... if his memory was correct, that would be Miss Stephanie Swail. "Interesting." he mumbled when she said he was the first CIS member she'd met. After a moment, he would answer her question. "Stephanie Swail. We first saw eachother at a celebration party for the alliance of our factions." he wasn't sure how to feel about Jedi, himself a sith, but Stephanie made them look good.

Jairdain explained to him that she knew nothing when it came to close quarters combat. Her main focus being becoming a mentalist instead of armed combat. Akabane didn't really understand why anyone would want to strengthen their mind over physical power. He was born a fighter and realized not everyone was like him, but still. Jairdain's assumption that he wasn't visiting her for combat training was correct. A simple nod confirmed it.

She sat down in a chair and Akabane sat down on the offered couch. It was comfy. A question followed, one about meditation. "Meditation is clearing your mind and thinking on something, right? I don't necessarily do that regularly but I may have once."

[member="Jairdain"]

She had met Stephanie more than once herself. The woman was the padawan to the Grand Master, but that detail was likely unknown to Akabane. It didn't matter either. The working of the different factions wasn't important in this meeting.

"I was able to make that party as well. Like now it's one of the few times that I could get time away from my duties at Commenor."

If he asked, Jairdain would answer what she did for Commenor, but didn't offer the information. When he answered her question about meditation, it brought another shake to her head. He was totally unprepared for a mental duel and would need some conditioning before it happened.

"Well, a mental duel for me takes place while meditating. You need to learn or relearn how to meditate before we can begin our duel."

[member="Akabane Jarvik"]

She was able to go to that party as well. Akabane tried to remember if he'd seen Jairdain there. Many people went from both factions, he wasn't certain if he saw her or not. The following day was a bad one though, so he forgot all of things about that night. Liquor took its toll on him along with the news of Aevan's death. Well, he thinks she's dead at least. "An eventful party, yes? I heard some padawans drank too much." he said with no particular emotion. Jairdain mentioned something about her duties. Small talk didn't suit him as he is now, Akabane nodded without asking.

Jairdain explained the meditation thing and why it was important for the duel. He would rather not have to meditate for this but he wanted results. Doing as she said was probably for his own good anyways. "Okay. Show me the way, Miss Ismet."

[member="Jairdain"]

"My attention was given to my love, Yuroic and arrived just when those padawans started passing out."

It was one of her first parties, but her attention wasn't on the party or the other people there. She hadn't expected to be able to make, but that single evening off was fine and she toon the opportunity to go when it was offered. Akabane didn't ask about her other duties and the subject remained dropped. Instead he was still adamant on the duel and she nodded.

"Okay, close your eyes and focus on meditating. With your permission, I'm going to align with you and we can continue."

She did wait on the permisson to reach out for him and went into her own meditative state.

[member="Akabane Jarvik"]

Akabane listened as she spoke of her love that had joined her at the party. He felt sad and looked away when she talked about him. It reminded him of his love, Aevan. Shaking off that feeling, he gave her his eyes like before. "Tell Miss Swail I said hi if you ever see her." he said, again lacking emotion.

She told him to close his eyes and focus on meditating. Jairdain asked for permission in aligning with him. Akabane wasn't sure what she meant by align, but he wanted to get this over with. "Go ahead." he said a little fearful. A mentalist requesting alignment scared even Akabane.

[member="Jairdain"]

"Seeing her might prove a little difficult, but I understand what you mean and I certainly will."

While he said this with very little emotion, Jairdain picked up on some sorrow from him. Something of interest to her and then a spike of fear or concern when she asked permission to align with him while meditating.

The permission was given and she started meditating with him. It was second nature to her and Jairdain quickly found the Force and immersed herself in it. The natural ebb and flow of it surrounding her. She now waited on Akabane to find it as well.

[member="Akabane Jarvik"]

Jairdain let him know she would tell her. "Thank you. Sorry for the trouble." the Jedi were foreign to him so he didn't understand what she meant by it'd be difficult seeing her. It could mean a few things really. He hadn't thought of her being blind, Akabane figured she said that because of her duties that she mentioned earlier. Whatever the reason, he wished not to bring any issues with his request.

Akabane closed his eyes and place a hand on each knee. He felt like he was doing it wrong before even starting. Master taught him to focus on pain when using the force. That's what he did. Father, mother, my friends... Aevan, I'm so sorry. these dark memories allowed sadness and anger plague his mind. Akabane could feel the dark energy but wasn't sure if this was what Jairdain wanted him to do.

[member="Jairdain"]

"No trouble at all."

Akabane did not ask for clarification on what she meant and went into attempting meditation. How a person got there didn't matter to Jairdain, getting into a meditative state was what did.

Allowing him the time he needed to reach a specific level before she reached out to connect to him. She knew when he did and reached out through the Force to him. His focus was on his personal pain and memories. Anger was in him and colored the Force around him. Jairdain had once been Sith and had that darkness within herself. It had always been there and always would be.

If he could feel her, he would know they had connected.

Focus on the flow around you. Let's run a few exercises and we will begin the duel after. The Force can grant visions if you seek them out. Sometimes the past, more often the future. Very rarely will it show the present, but that can happen. What does the Force tell you, if anything?

[member="Akabane Jarvik"]

He continued to focus while calming down for a moment. Destroying another person's property wasn't his intent and he didn't want to find out how much it took for him to lose control either. After taking in a deep breath and releasing it, he was ready to go. Fear still lingered in Akabane even though his face would appear calm. He had always been more of a physical person rather than mental. Going up against a mentalist and winning would be a great feat for him.

Akabane was sitting quietly while focusing when something felt different all of a sudden. He could hear a voice in his head, Jairdain's voice. By alignment... she meant this. She instructed him to focus on the flow around himself and they'd start the duel after a few exercises. Jairdain told him the force can grant visions, past, future, and rarely the present. Akabane wanted to know what happened with Aevan, however he wasn't a demanding person. Whatever the force showed him, he would be grateful and tell her what he saw.

Nothing happened for awhile until a flash of light and then darkness. It was like a black screen. A girl appeared in the darkness along with a flame floating around her. At first, he didn't know who she was but then he knew... yes, he now knew. Aevan was the girl. He watched the vision and tried to not get upset. She shot a fireball at something, an attacker? A nearby hutt caught on fire instead. Another flash and then the vision was over. He started tearing up before wiping them from his face. Akabane wasn't sure what to think. The vision didn't confirm her death nor an escape. Chances of her survival were thin but he wanted to at least try and search for her anyways.

I believe the vision showed my fiancee right before her death, but I can't be sure since it only gave me a glimpse.

[member="Jairdain"]

Her own skill of prophecy in the Force was slightly different than what Akabane had just had. While she would also be granted this type of vision now and then, hers were on a more conscience level. However, the Force would sometimes give her visions, usually of the past.

What Akabane saw was not given to her, but whatever it was had an effect on him. As she requested, he told her what he saw. He mentioned he had a fiancée and that she was dead. At that point the Force spoke to her and while what he said he felt was true, the girl wasn't dead.

She isn't dead. I don't know who or where she is, but she is alive.

Jairdain spoke with conviction through their connection.

I too have a fiancée. His name is Yuroic and also belongs to the Silver Jedi. If something were to happen to either of us I just know the other would feel it.

Allowing him to calm down after his distressing vision before continuing. For a while they floated in the Force together. She got a read of him and allowed him to read her if he could or wanted to.

Do you know Mind Trick or any other mental skill?

[member="Akabane"]

He couldn't have predicted the vision would show him the events from Aevan's death, well, when she was attacked. Akabane didn't want to get his hopes up and think she was alive only to be let down, seeing this made him feel better though. One day, after some time he might be able to smile again. But then.. Jairdain said something while they were connected, something about Aevan. Alive?

Akabane stood up for a moment. "She's alive?" he asked quickly. He sat in the chair and calmed himself again, and apologized for his outburst. My apologies Miss Ismet. Thank you. believing her would be difficult but he remembered a mentalist gave him this information. Jairdain mentioned her own fiance, adding she'd know how one of them would feel if one died. Losing a loved one was always sad but losing the one who you live the most is like a fatal blow. So she's alive, location unknown, pursuer unknown, and their reason unknown. Fething force. a spark of anger was inside him. This situation sucked but he hated to admit defeat. Akabane wanted to go after her, what if the attacker was still around?

Learning this new information made him forget about the duel. Akabane shook his head when she asked if he knew any mental skills. I do not. he asked a question next. I must find Aevan before it's too late. Can you teach me something that will help in my search for her? he stopped. Please.

[member="Jairdain"]

Her short delivery of what she felt to be true was enough of a shock to Akabane that he abruptly ended his meditation. Jairdain did not feel any anger or disappointment in any way and allowed him his outburst. Eventually he calmed down enough that he was able to sit back down. She felt his anger though, but didn't feel it was directed at her.

His physical motions were lost on the blind woman, but his emotions and intentions were felt and 'seen' through the Force. When he sat back down, calmed himself enough to meditate again, he asked if she could teach him anything that would help in his search for his fiancée.

Alchemy could help trace her, but that is not something I know. However, if you get a lead, you can learn mind trick and use that to get information from people. You said you saw fire in your vision as well? A skill I know won't help you find her, but it's called Pyrokinesis and you can control fire with it

[member="Akabane"]

Though he was trying to stay calm anger would stay within him. Anyone who wanted to hurt a random woman was a terrible person. That was one of the things that made him mad but then there was the other thing. He was angry mostly by the fact that Aevan was one of the only relatives he had left. And someone tried to take her away, if not already. This feeling reminded him of the time when his real family was slaughtered. A spark turned into a flame.

Jairdain informed him that she couldn't help on tracking her down. She offered to teach him another skill however. Pyrokinesis. Akabane was always interested in wielding the other elements, he nodded. "I am interested Miss Ismet. Currently, I can only control the wind so I'd be love to have pyrokinesis as a power that I can use."

[member="Jairdain"]

Coming out of her meditative state as Akabane spoke verbally, she nodded and stood up.

"Please come outside and I'll gather up a few things to teach you with."

Jairdain stood up and moved to leave her home. It wasn't that she was afraid of her house getting destroyed...again, but she didn't have anything inside for him to use as a tool in this lesson.

She had a small pile of dead plants and other items she would normally use to help her plants grow. Walking over to them, she gather a few of the dried up and dead plants along with some wood. Moving to a clear spot in her land, she made a pile out of the sticks and set the dried plants inside. She sat down on the ground and motioned for him to join her.

"Now pyrokinesis you basically need to make the molecules rub together like they are dancing. Makes them go fast enough and you can bring about fire."

[member="Akabane"]

Akabane followed as Jairdain went outside and walked some distance away from her home. She gathered the necessary materials for the training exercise. He watched her as she made a pile out of the gathered items. So the goal was to light up the little bonfire using pyrokinesis? Jairdain explained how pyrokinesis worked and everything but saying how it worked was easier than actually doing it. Rubbing together molecules? Akabane doubted he was capable of doing such things.

"Okay. What do I need to do specifically?" he asked ready to learn, even though he expected failure.
