Affiliation: Typhoon Squadron
Manufacturer: Typhoon Ironworks
Model: TI-01 Assault and Exploration Cruiser
Modularity: No
Production: Semi-Unique
Material: Link: Quadanium Steel, Nutorium Alloy
Classification: Assault/Exploration

Length: 700 meters
Width: 300 meters
Height: 200 meters

Armament:
3x Heavy Railguns
35x Dual turbolasers
45x Point Defense guns

Hangar: 2 squadrons, plus space for two freighter-sized ships

Special Features:

  • Interdiction Drive creates a small field of energy around the ship that slows nearby craft.

  • Sublight Acceleration Motor (SLAM) doubles the output of the Interdiction Drive for a short period of time, giving the ship a sort of ‘charging’ interdiction attack.

  • WhisperThrust engines cloak emissions to make the ship less visible to scanners

  • Nutorium Alloy in the hull partially stops sensor scans

  • Redundant shield arrays

  • Stygium Cloaking device

  • Heavy armor

Maneuverability Rating: 10
Speed Rating: 14
Hyperdrive Class: 0.5

Strengths:

  • Great non-combat stealth capabilities

  • Heavy armor

  • Well-armed

  • Manuverable
Weaknesses:

  • Interdiction Drive and Sublight Acceleration Motors disable the stealth systems on activation.

  • The stealth systems mostly rely on the ship running at only medium speed.

  • Relatively low speed when the SLAM is not engaged.

Description:
The TI-01 (Commonly known as the Typhoon-class) is an upgrade to the original ship that was stolen along with Watcher himself fifteen years ago. Although it loses speed due to its size and sheer weight, it makes up for its slow speed with the ability to be near-undetectable out of combat, and to turn a more than respectable amount of firepower on attackers.
The TI-01 has a great deal of defensive capability out of combat, with strong armor and stealth devices. In combat, the stealth system is automatically deactivated and the redundant shield arrays turn on to cover the ship. To take pressure off the shields, a little more than half of the ship’s conventional firepower is concentrated in the point defense system.
Just as with the defense system, the offensive weapons have two different modes of functioning. When facing other large capital ships, the TI-01 usually stays at long distance and fires its three railguns at its target. In closer combat, the main guns are deactivated and the twin turbolaser turrets fire in tandem with the point defense system to destroy larger enemies while the point defense system fires on fighters and missiles.

These numbers are far to low for a ship of this size. Corvettes are usually maneuvering 8 at 1/4 the size of this vessel. maneuvering 10 is acceptable if you list Maneuvering as one of the strengths of the design.

You would need to do a considerable Development thread to get this many stealth and propulsion systems on a ship this big. With it being semi-unique 20 posts will cover all of the stealth and special systems on it.

Edited maneuverability and added it as a strength.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Rothana troop transports (those Star Destroyer-like ships from Ep. II) were pretty fast, right? Like, faster than this?

The Acclamators were very fast in hyperspace yes but not in real space. They had Class X.6 hyperdrives and had good straight line speeds to get past ships and down onto a planet. But they had low weapons, Thin armor, and terrible maneuvering. the hulls used thin neutron star infused durasteel which dispersed damage but it was still thinner grade to maximize the internal space.

We use this scale as a guide Link

Maneuvering is more difficult to achieve than straight line thrust. Making something go faster is just easier than making it turn faster. The S.L.A.M. drive will help with the speed in short straight line burst but maneuvering at those speeds would be detrimental to the ship.

There is always development for a cloak which I usually make it 10 posts and the SLAM on such a large ship as well as the other stealth stuff, another 10 posts.

Ah, I see... So speed should be > maneuverability on something this size?

Also, the dev thread for the stygium is in progress. I just needed to see what else needed to be dev'd.

The S.L.A.M needs some development

as does this but if you can fit it into the Development thread you are currently using somehow that will work.

[member="Watcher Three"] yes normally speed is greater than maneuvering. A ship has massive main thrusters while the nameuvering thrusters are small. With the SLAM what you have is fine. You may want to list combat thrusters as a strength. That would explain how it has better maneuvering or you can just list maneuvering as a strength. If maneuvering is what you want go for it. A ship this big even a 10 maneuvering wont help with it being targeted. Its just massively big. the stealth helps way more in that regard
