Two Smugglers Cant

Gamorr came with one instruction in almost every single tourist destination book in the galaxy 'Do not visit Gamorr'. Despite that, here the Twi'lek was. It was a measure of good faith she was extending to [member="Corruck Kazen"], he'd requested the rendezvous at this planet, on this date. Indirectly of course. It had been hidden in Smugglers Cant in an innocuous message on a data pad he'd been caught 'losing' at the Casino.

He'd been passionate in the meeting, if just as reckless as the rest of them. Still, the little they'd found about his past meant they might share some common bonds. She was wary however, he had more reason than most not to have any love for the Ravens. Plus look what had happened to the last being who'd been in Dredges hands..

Her jaw tightened at that thought. She remembered the first time she'd ever spoken to Cryax. He'd spilt a drink on her. She'd thought him well meaning, cute, out of his depth. Almost from that moment on, she now recognized, she'd claimed and minded him in her own way. Look at what he'd done. How he'd repaid her.

And here she was meeting up with one who was not supposed to be part of her family and had been twisted in a similar way. Was it safe? Likely not. Was Corruck stronger, more resilient than the Chiss had been? She would find out she supposed.

For now she stayed in orbit in her Wasburne class vessel, comm channels open and receiving, seeing if she would be hailed. Much could change in short time, perhaps he would not show up at all.

Corruck still felt like he was unprepared for the meeting, even after the fifteen minute shower in the refresher and putting on his best suit. Okay, not really his best suit, but it was one of better suits. He didn't prefer his best suit as it was difficult to clean and was prone to squeezing his rib cage if he breathed too deeply. His clothes were clean, well cut, and appeared unassuming, just the way he preferred.

He guessed as to why he felt the way he did, it was probably because he had forgotten about this engagement until he would be late based on the traveling times. As it was, the time in hyperspace added with the time moving would put him half an hour later than the initial meeting should have been. That was highly unprofessional and he hoped that [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] would still be there when he arrived. Unfortunately, he had been spending too much time with the scientists in his company ReCal, they had shown him some very interesting possible tech and he had been foolish enough to lost track of time.

Now he stood on the bridge, watching hyperspace go by. Sheera, the pilot of the Recalcitrant, was not happy about the situation either. At least that was what Corruck expected, though she showed no outward sign of that anger. She had had plans with Rathur, however the time lost through the travel would cut into their plans quite a lot. She would still have time, if the meeting Corruck had wouldn't take too long.

As the ship reverted to realspace Corruck smiled a little. Gamorr had been chosen because it was normally avoided by most people throughout the galaxy. Of course it also helped that Gamorr had very few inhabitants who had space worthy vessels. He quickly turned on the comm and opened it onto general channels, keeping the power low enough so as to avoid letting the planet below, which probably had receivers and what not. "This is Corruck Kazen, any vessels out there?"

She straightened from her fairly relaxed position in the pilots seat. Uncrossing legs, hand brushing down to straighten a slight crease in her dress as a comm signal came through. Faint, but clear and ungarbled. Isolating the signal, easy since he'd meant it to be found, she responded.

"Kazen, I was starting to think I'd been stood up.."

Her voice was teasing. She was busy, this was true, there were so many things to do these days, so many preparations and plans and no one to entrust them to but herself. Still, a half hour here or there would likely not make too much difference one way or another.

It might, it might, can't you feel the countdown?

"I assume if you wanted a holocall you'd not have had me come out here, though I do appreciate you picking somewhere relatively close to home. What's the agenda?"

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck could have grinned, he could have grinned like a young boy again. At last something seemed to be going right. But instead of a grin, a simple smile released itself from him. He felt his muscles relax, as he spoke back into the comm. "Well, I would like to talk to you about an equally beneficially proposition. Would you prefer to talk face to face?"

He would prefer it that way, considering that the reason he had chosen such a planet for the meeting was to avoid being found by Rebels. He had not told them of his plans, they would most likely not agree to him working with these people, so soon after those miserable attempts at a truce. He hoped to begin some work, maybe trade to begin with then later work on his plans for the future. He needed to get to work on his goals, after all a single ship that can bombard a city is all good. But, he couldn't show the galaxy the truth one city at a time.

He hoped that [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] and the Red Ravens, or at least just Chiasa, would be willing to help him towards this goal. The Sith were enemies of both at the very least that was the idea he had gotten from their last visit. If they worked together then it would be good for both.

"Equally beneficial propositions are my second favourite kind."

She commented cheerfully. Her first obviously being those which benefited her and her alone. This would have gone without saying, but she was testing him out, getting a feel for his personality outside of the tense Truce setting.

"Face to face would be best I suspect. On the ground or up here? I've no preference, dealers choice."

This wasn't entirely true of course, but each location had it's positives and negatives and at the end of the day none of the three options that she saw was significantly more in her favour than the others. And again, everything was a test.

Teach me what you want, how you think, how you plan and calculate. Show me if you are my friend or my foe.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck knew what he would prefer, avoid contact with outside people at all costs. He had to be able to keep his appearance here deniable to the RA. He didn't know if they had anyone on the ground, or if anyone on the ground would give information to them or to the open Holonet, all he knew was that he wanted to keep this secret. He couldn't be sure how many people would want to stop him, he could cause so much trouble and people would not believe that he was just trying to help.

He replied, keeping his voice steady and polite, "I would prefer if we stay in space for now. Would you like to meet on my ship or yours?"

He didn't mind either way, he felt fairly safe as it was. He had to set the right image, after all he was willing to bet that such an intelligent person as [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] was testing him to see if he was safe... Maybe she was doing better than that. Maybe, just maybe, she was trying to read him, much the same way he was trying to read her. If so, he would have to play even more carefully.

"Mine."

As much as part of her did not like inviting an unknown quantity into her home, and her ship was her home. More so even then the suites she kept in either Casino. This was hers. Her own. She'd bought it. She flew it. The only crew it needed was her. It was her freedom and her escape. Very few people were allowed on her ship. If he was untrustworthy.. If he was twisted and broken.. To be attacked here, particularly if he won would be.. exceptionally upsetting. There were so few safe spaces. Still, better here were she was comfortable and it was just the two of him than his ship, which was likely crewed.

After a moments hesitation that she was glad could not be seen, she keyed in the code to lower her shields.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck bowed slightly, even though nobody but Sheera could see him. "Yours it is then. I'll come unarmed if you would like."

He smiled for a moment, he could leave his guns aboard the Recalcitrant, but to be completely unarmed he would need to be disarmed, literally. His right arm was completely mechanical, a 'present' from Dredge, after being handed over to him by Cryax. That was one of the only reasons that he questioned the Red Ravens, the fact that they were so quick to hand over prisoners to Sith. The only reason he had been willing to deal with [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] was that she had apparently been very different from Cryax based on the meeting they had had during the Truce.

He quickly made his way to the docking bay of his ship, while Sheera somewhat angrily lowered the shields. He heard the engine whine slightly, probably Sheera keeping the engines hot in case she had to make a run or quickly turn on the shields. That was basically a way of telling Corruck that she did not like this at all. He laughed to himself. Then the ship set out its docking ramp and waited for Chiasa's ship to finish its part.

"As you will. There are weapons on my ship, though I wasn't intending to use them."

Nor was she currently armed or armoured, but she would not tell him he had to come unarmed when she could so easily arm herself. It simply wasn't done. The appearance of fair play at least had to be upheld. Still, she admitted to feeling slightly more at ease after his offer. She maneuvered the shieldess transport into place and opened the airlock/landing thingy. Frigged if she knew the name for it. She could fly it, and operate it, that was about the best that could be said.

She gave the two canine droids that were her only companions when she went out alone a look. She could even sometimes tell One and Two apart now. Largely because Two liked shocking things much more than he ought to, and managed a nefarious grin far better than a robotic dog face ought to be able to. You were probably supposed to put bolts on them, or wipe their memories every now and again. She didn't really have the heart to do it though. She firmly made the stay hand signal, feeling slightly ridiculous as she usually did when dealing with them when no one else was around. They were only droids after all.

She waited patiently to make sure the whole ship-swapping process was under way and going smoothly before rising and moving to meet him.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck watched through a viewport as the other, smaller ship moved slowly into position and then locked itself into place. It was a nice ship, probably only needed a few if any more than one person to run it. That was an advantage of a ship that size, it was more easily made homey, at least compared to ship like the Recalcitrant. He wouldn't give up his ship for anything else though. He had made it home, it had the closest things he had to family, especially after his sister went missing.

As the door between the ships opened, Corruck pulled Norgorth, the largest and most protective of his Vornskrs, away from the entry. He held the creature back, and waited until Karneth arrived, smiling, and took the the dog like animal from Corruck. "Have a good time over there, don't spend too much time or Sheera may just decide to leave without you." He said playfully.

Corruck gave a mock glower at Karneth and then responded, "I'll try to make this quick then." He walked steadily with an almost march like pace.

When he reached the other ship, Corruck waited until he saw [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] arrive. He gave a slight bow as he spoke, "Good to see you again. I hope that this time I will keep myself in check." He tried to let a humorous smile come across his face as he spoke.

"Likewise and.. last time was certainly interesting."

She allowed with a wry smile and a quirk of a brow.

"It matters less now, it is safe here. I must admit, I rather thought a group of Rebels would be a little more wary. Still. I don't suppose it matters in the long run."

She sighed slightly at that. The entire day had been something of a clusterkark. It was like everyone who'd walked into the Casino other than her had been feeling particularly stupid, undiplomatic or suicidal. In some cases all three.

"We can go to the galley, if you like."

She added, depending on what he wanted to chat about it was likely better than keeping him standing there in what equated to the doorway.

"You heard about the results of that lovely little display?"

He may have, he may not have. Cryax spilling his guts to Reverance. Reverance demanding what the Ravens would not give. The breaking of the truce. Cryax's betrayal. Chiasas official promotion though it seemed she'd been running things for a while now. The rather sizable bounty on her head... He might know all, some or none.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck nodded to be asked about heading to the galley, as much as standing was enjoyable, he would prefer to conduct this business as comfortable as possible. He wasn't certain as to how [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] would act, especially since his later goals were going to be possibly too radical... as he had learned from a few people on Praesitlyn.

"Sorry, I do not know what happened after our little meeting." Corruck bit back an explanation, wasted words would be no help here.

He took his time to think through his words. He would have to bring up the immediate plans, maybe helping spread around some smaller technologies. Information trades and other such small tidbits of the underworld trade. He hoped that the last order of the day would hopefully be talking about support in his campaign in the galaxy. He expected that to be the largest difficulty at this point. He wasn't sure how Chiasa would respond to the idea of eliminating the power of the Force. He was willing to bet that she would gladly see the end of the Sith at least.

At his nod the Twi'lek turned, waiting for him to move beside her before heading for the galley. It was surprisingly spartan. She'd not bothered to upgrade much. There was rarely anyone here to impress, and what had come standard had been adequate for her. A table with four bare chairs. In the corner, two somewhat more comfortable ones. It was to these she moved. Speaking as she sat.

"Cryax, drunk as he was decided to go have a little chat with the Sith I warned you of. Reverance. Wrath of the Dark Lord. I'd not intended to tell the Sith of our.. agreement. As I said to you, it is less than wise to simply break off relations with the Sith. Better to drift away. With Cryaxs indiscretion this was no longer an option. Reverance pushed. He wanted information on you lot of course and demanded we sell to no one but the Sith, who never buy. I said I would consider his terms when he guaranteed the Ravens autonomy. He refused of course, broke my damned table, and informed me the Ravens had best stay out of the Core worlds."

"So. Alliance broken. Sith angry and so on. It was inevitable really, unfortunate it happened ahead of schedule."

She paused momentarily to consider this. Things would have been so much easier if Cryax had shown just the slightest bit of restraint. Of common sense. If he'd been able to see that she was acting to protect and shield him in particular.

"Then Cryax panicked. Decided to betray us. His family."

At this she could not keep the venom from her voice. This hurt. There were so few left the Twi'lek extended her trust to. To have it broken so thoroughly..

"He destroyed our systems, stole our information, tried to steal our credits and ran to the Sith, where I assume he still is. The Sith who tortured and thralled him not once but twice. The Sith I was trying to keep him away from. This was not the devastating blow he seemed to think it would be. We are criminals. The worst information he made off with was the roster. We had a patchwork system up and running within the hour."

It was clear this had rocked the Ravens more than she was letting on, but the Twi'lek could not afford to show emotion. To feel affection or hurt. She did not get to be an individual during working hours, and she worked all hours these days.

"So. Now I am President and the Ravens are mine."

This was said matter of factly, chin rose slightly as though daring the galaxy to say otherwise, to challenge her.

"The Sith are displeased, and the Primeval along with them, I suppose they expected us to immediately crumble. I will not let this happen. Not to what is mine. not to my Unkindness, my su'si ercio. A seventy million credit bounty sits on my head now."

This at least won a bit of a grin from the Twi'lek. Seventy million and they still could not catch her. Could not stop her. And she was only just getting started.

"That is the outcome of our little meeting, but not what brought us here.."

She tilted her head slightly. She'd said her piece, brought him up to speed, now it was his turn.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck took in his surroundings carefully, trying to memorize any detail that might come in handy should the situation turn sour. He doubted it would, but it was always better to be safe than dead. Just because he hoped that the meeting would go well didn't mean that it would, just look at the attempt at a truce. That situation had almost gone volatile.

When in the galley he looked around, once more thinking about how homely this ship must feel, if only due to its size. It was kept simple, probably meaning that [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"] didn't like to spend money on those things that were not essential. This would make it easier for her to live on less, much less in fact than many other crime lords were used to. He could remember being a small crime lord, nothing as large or as organized as the Red Ravens, he was under no illusion that the Red Ravens were superior.

During that time he had been quite young, maybe early twenties, he had had a liking for things that were exotic to his Corellian mind. Time had given him a little more wisdom in that regard, now he knew the rare gift of being able to survive with less and less. To become reliant on one's self instead of objects. He was willing to guess that Chiasa knew about this as well. If so, then it would at least give them one common thought process.

As he listened, Corruck noticed that she kept any sort of emotion hidden. A good tactic and one that he had yet to completely master. One thing became clear, the Sith were the enemy now. That would be perfect.

"I won't insult you by saying we are very much alike. While there are facets of our thoughts that mirror one another, making that the entire person is a foolish and amateur response. I will say that now at least the RA and the Red Ravens now have a common enemy." He paused for the slightest of moments, trying to read the expression at that last statement.

He then continued, "I am not here to talk about the RA or an alliance or any such possibility. That has already been tried and there is no need to go over old ground. I will say, that I regret the damage that Cryax has caused." "He caused much damage to me as well." He thought.

"I am here to talk about trading. I assume that you are quite good at bartering and I would further assume that you would also be a good judge of the worth of things, both material and immaterial. I have plans for the future, both immediate and far. I found my circumstances to be less that preferred to reach these goals. I believe, that with your help I will be able to obtain my intentions. Of course, I do not expect to have your help for free, in fact I look forward to dealing with you." He fell silent, he couldn't think of what more to say, his mind was busy with what was going to be said soon. He looked at Chiasa, as if to ask what do you have to say so far.

"What use in finding someone exactly like you? A mirror can only show you what is already there. Something similar but different.. This can stimulate new way of thinking, new angles of looking at things. Much more useful."

She commented in the pause he left. He was careful, this one. Two possibilities. Either somewhere there was a trap waiting, or he was edging around something he cared about very much. She was leaning towards the latter.

Interesting when he continued the way he spoke of the Red Raven and Rebel Alliance truce. Like he'd already written that off. Fair enough considering the way that day had gone. Not entirely accurate however. This was one of the Twi'leks new pet projects. It would flourish. She did not much care about their political agendas or the deep and passionate zeal they brought to the table, but they were useful, and they would be more useful in the future. Another weapons to be wielded.

"Very few things come for free."

She commented, leaving it at that for a moment as she considered him. Considered what she wanted and intended. It depended on his end goals of course. In the short term there looked to be nothing to lose by trading with him, she was certain she would come out on top, but he did seem the sort who truly was thinking into the future, rather than thinking that planning for next week was an accomplishment. Helping him now could prove to be disastrous. Perhaps both the previous possibilities were correct. This was something he cared about very deeply, bordering on obsession if she was any judge. But it could also be the trap. Help me now, profit now, and then find out you've been helping to build a weapon leveled right at you.

"Talk to me of plans and intentions. Tell me what your preferred circumstances are. Likely I can help you. Likely I can bring your plans to fruition. Tell me why I want to, and I will tell you whether you have anything to look forward to."

Now the whip sharp part part of the Twi'lek, the predator was regarding him from behind her eyes, the illusion of languidity was gone. Much would depend on what he said next.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck felt the change in [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"]'s manner. It became cold and hard, a hunter looking for its piece of meat. Except, it wasn't his life hanging in the balance, but instead a possible alliance. If he could succeed in this duel of words then he could gain an ally who would help him in the future, otherwise he had opened himself to attack. Such a weakness could cripple him beyond any ability to recover. If his plans were debilitated then there would be little hope of keeping it secret and if it was no longer secret then he would fail.

Secrecy was utmost, it would only take a little to dash any hope of success and it would require much work to keep it that way. With a galaxy that absorbed all forms of information and tried to get at every dirty secret on every person, noteworthy or not there was a very high chance that unless he worked to keep his intentions hidden while pretending to make them known. Failure would end his hopes, end his plans, and most likely end the possibility of galactic freedom. In short, failure was not an option.

He couldn't win her to his side with emotions, not unless she was more willing to follow them than she let on. So far, it had appeared that that Chiasa kept a good hold on her emotions, a good skill and one that he still had to work on. He was young, but that was hardly an excuse.

"I'll not beat around the proverbial bush. You want a reason, an intention, I shall give my end. I trust that you will hold it as confidential..." "That is, until you think the information it worth selling." He finished in thought.

He gave a moment of silence, making an appearance of unsureness come across his face. Then he took a breath and continued, "My final goal is to strip all Force users of their ability to use the Force. I intend on freeing the galaxy from the Sith, Jedi, and all other Force wielder's oppression. By such an act, the galaxy would find its own peace that would not be broken by the wars the Sith and Jedi cause. In that peace, there will be a very large opening for crime, if that matters to you."

He waited, he didn't know how it would come across. He had told her his most important plan, not how he intended to get there. That would be for another time...

One brow rose. The Twi'lek leaned back in her seat, crossing her legs. Attention shifted from him to a point slightly above and to the left of him. Not that there was anything there, she was merely thinking.

This was quite a goal he had indeed. If it was easy it would have been done millennia ago. She was not even certain such a thing was possible. Still, he might find some novel ways to fight force-users while he tried, and that she could certainly use. What if he succeeded though? She herself was a force user. How much did she depend upon it though? Not at all until she'd come under attack by other force users. That had started a frenzied dash of learning. She did not need it for what she did for a living. She did not need it to run the Ravens or have them be successful, she needed it literally only because of other force users. If it suddenly disappeared from the entire galaxy where would she be? Stronger, as a whole.

One orange hand rose, to cover her mouth, thumb on her chin.

Peace did not concern her. Openings for crime did not concern her. Neutralizing a threat concerned her very much. Selling the information did not occur to her. Knowledge was power, she liked to keep it for herself. Peace would never last no matter what he thought. She would make her own openings, as she'd always done. But to remove the threat of the Sith, and to an extent the Jedi..

Yellow eyes snapped back onto him and oh they burned, hand was lowered.

"What do you need?"

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck had watched intently, trying to decide how she would respond. It was when the hand fell and [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"]'s eyes burned that he was able to conclude that he had her. That was all well and good, but he still had to figure out where to go with this plan. He knew that a good idea would be to begin studies on the Ysalamiri. Their unique ability to nullify the Force user's ability to use the Force was probably the key. After all, he didn't want to kill the Force or its users, he wanted to debilitate them in that area.

Her question was very good. He responded, not minding to cover the tone of uncertainty that came from him. "At this point in time I need to keep this secret and to begin research on the Ysalamiri. I have a plan in place for when I am ready, there is a ship I wish to use that should draw attention, when it is needed..." He meant the Destiny, a ship constructed for the sole purpose of dropped nuclear bombs from high atmosphere. Awhile ago he had falsely told the creator and updater of Wookiee Leaks that he lost the ship to pirates, that it had been stolen and was now hiding somewhere in the Outer Rim. Now there was truth to it, Destiny was hidden in the Outer Rim, but by a set of his own crew for his own designs.

He then asked, "Do you read the Wookiee Leaks?"

The first hurdle had been made, now it was time to figure out what he needed in the meantime.

"Ysalamiri.. I've been meaning to get hold of some of them.. Though I can't afford to instigate the Mandalorians at the moment."

It wasn't a huge priority yet anyway. The farms on Far Pando were largely established now. Security stepped up greatly from before when it had been, well, non-existent. Next gathering the beasts in question and cloning technology. To hell with constant hunts, breeding or buying. This people did not think big enough. Ysalamiri were only one on her list. Oh wouldn't the Sith have fun when she finally decided to act. When she was finished her preparations.

"Eugene."

She commented, voice flat and largely conveying annoyance.

"Yes, I am aware of Wookiee Leaks. Now that you mention it I do seem to recall you being mentioned.. Along with a ship that most certainly could garner attention."

She had in fact been one of the first.. well victims was a strong word. She did not feel very victimized, just annoyed by the semi compromising photos that had been posted of her and a politician prior to her joining the Ravens. They had certainly not been at the most flattering angle. If she'd known there was a holocam involved she could have done much better. Not that things had gotten as heated as the sweaty-palmed owner of Wookiee Leaks likely wished, it had been a simple but if seduction and manipulation, not a full blown tryst.

[member="Corruck Kazen"]

Corruck nodded, "Yes, the Destiny. She's still under my command. Had to make her disappear for all intents and purposes. Making her an enemy will mask my involvement with the first few attacks."

He knew that he was not being stealthy, that was the whole point in his mind. When he began his 'campaign' he would have to make it as public as possible. The more people he could affect the more he was likely to release from the Sith and Jedi, and the more those two would have enemies. He couldn't play subtle with Jedi and Sith, in their own nature they were far too subtle so they would be able to combat that type of battle far to easily. Taking the truth and laying it out across the galaxy as blatantly as possible was the only way that he could be sure that it would have an effect on people. The Jedi and Sith could not hide the truth forever. And, when the truth was at last shown the Jedi and Sith would be weakened, their followers turning against them and when Corruck or someone else had figured the way to eliminate their power then they would be finished once and for all.

The Destiny and its future generations would be a symbol, a symbol of one war to end the Force users reign. They would be terrifying, after all they were weapons of war, capable of leveling small cities. It would be the waking call, it would force everyone to pay attention as Corruck attacked any Sith or Jedi who stood in his way. Their first true use would likely be upon some Sith or Jedi world. Its destruction would be the beginning or Corruck's attempt. Once he attacked there would be no going back, no powerful Force user would want him to remain as a symbol against them.

That was all just meant to grab attention, his true plot was only possible through the use of Ysalamiri. He was preparing his scientists to study the creatures in order to discover the secret that they held, what allowed them to push the Force back. They didn't truly remove Force but rendered it obsolete within a small area that grew larger the more there were. It hadn't been there originally, if the historic texts were correct, it was an evolved defense mechanism meant to hide them from the Vornskr. If he could discover what exactly allowed them to debilitate the Force, then he could theoretically splice DNA for that organ or brain function into other sentient beings. He could then have beings of different species created with this in place and then release them into societies. They could act as the perfect Jedi or Sith killer, if trained to do so. Or they could simply act as a block to Force activity in an area. That was where his plan lay, there was little else he could think of, but if it were possible then it was the key.

Corruck tried to explain all this to [member="Chiasa Kritivaas"], though with more words and more time taken. By the end of it he had spent a good fifteen minutes speaking, he felt a little worn. His whole plan he had never shown to anyone, in fact he still hadn't. He had given Chiasa a large portion, in fact the majority, of his plan, however it was not everything. Still, it was the most he had told anyone or thing. He looked at the orange twi'lek expectantly. He wasn't certain how she would respond or if she would even do so. He knew the basics of a crime lord's mind, if he proved himself to be too much a threat, he might be dealt with here and now. He doubted that would be the case, but it was always necessary to keep the possibilities open.
