  • Advanced Targeting Suite - The improved TIE/LN starfighter is equipped with a highly advanced targeting computer that allows the ship to perform complex maneuvers during dogfighting but still maintain an excellent degree of accuracy.
  • Pack Mentality - While a TIE Fighter alone is rather weak, an entire squadron of these fighters can wreak havoc on other enemies. The fact that a standard Imperial star destroyer holds six squadrons (a total of 72 TIE Fighters), should be clue enough that they are much deadlier in larger numbers.
  • Jack of all Trades - With average ratings across the board, the TIE fighter suffers no disadvantages from being 'below average' in specific categories; making it the perfect fighter for all situations.

  • Master of None - Even still, the TIE/LN does not have any advantages over other fighters in the realms of armament, defenses, or speed and maneuverability. Against certain specialized fighters it will suffer tremendously.
  • Pack Mentality - A TIE alone is simply no match when facing similarly-armed adversaries, it works best in squadrons.
  • No Hyperdrive - The TIE/LN like its predecessor and most other TIE-series models, does not feature a hyperdrive; meaning that it requires a carrier ship to be deployed in battle most of the time, and that it would be stranded without one.

The TIE-series line of ships has always been a symbol of the ancient Galactic Empire, the sleek geometric shapes along with the signature screech of its twin ion engine. Many have tried to replicate the success of the TIE/LN, ranging from the First Order to even the Sith, to no avail; creating inferior or otherwise different versions of the TIE Fighter. Knowing that they were behind in the realm of starfighters, the third Galactic Empire decided to retrofit the TIE/LN from the Rise of the Empire-era into a more modern variant.

Some key changes have been made in the creation of the TIE/IN Mark IV, most notably the addition of shield generator that previous models most often lacked. A second change is located in the armament, where instead of two regular laser cannons the TIE/LN now comes equipped with two dual laser cannons and a proton torpedo launcher armed with six torpedoes.

Overall, the Mark IV is a vast improvement over the original TIE/LN model, able to hit heavy, perform complex maneuvers, and most importantly be produced in vast numbers to be loaded onto the warships of the Imperial Navy.
