The Way of the Sarlacc (Form 1 lightsaber training, open to all)

Mabbik adjusted his stance, leg moving out and bending to create a highly flexible yet stable surface. His rear leg meanwhile turned sideways and bent lowering his already small body into an even smaller target. Reaching down and pulling out his lightsaber he held the curved handle forwards and activated the blade. Turned downwards with the blade held at head level he reached out with his other hand turning on the remote with the force.

Flying upwards the remote rapidly acquired and began firing. Feeling the force flowing around himself the Kushiban deftly flicked his wrist to begin sweeping his lightsaber to intercept and deflect the stun bolts into the ground around him. Feeling the currents of the force change subtly with each movement of the remote Mabbik settled into the flow. Every move it made he countered with a small step towards, sideways, or backwards keeping it at a constant distance. The energy from the blast he felt as they formed and shot out through the air towards him. These to were countered with small sweeps as his lightsaber dropped from the starting high guard to a low. While the shoto had a small blade it allowed for precision that was simply unmatched and allowed the tip of the blade to be the main point of impact for the remote's lasers.

The training room was fairly quiet other then the sound of the shoto and remote's movements and blasts. The ground was covered in padding while the walls had racks that contained training lightsabers along with remotes. Otherwise the room was spartan and barren of anything that may get in the way of those using it.

A memo had been sent to the various Jedi of the temple the day before by Mabbik. Short and to the point it listed the room number, the time and said simply that he would be hosting a Shii-Cho class. A slightly larger version with a map had been sent to his apprentice [member="Jerit Kolomor"] so the young human wouldn't get lost.

Jerit had read the memo, and with it attached to the map. Thank goodness, a reference for him to get to the training room and other places in the temple. His master knew him well. He got on his robes and hooked his lightsaber to his belt, feeling proud of the weapon. Today was his first day of saber training. Jerit was excited for it. He could actually learn how to wield his weapon instead of using it for intimidation if he encountered a wrong group of people.

While Jerit was walking to the temple (Map in hand of course), he was daydreaming of what his training might be like. Will he spar against students? Will he practice on droids? Just the thought of it almost made him squeak with excitement. But he had to contain himself and be mature. So, Jerit walked the rest of the way to the room in silence and steady motion. To keep him occupied on the walk, the boy would daydream again and again....

When he reached the room, Jerit knocked on the door to be authorized to enter. He did not want interrupt anything that was going on as the boy heard blaster fire and the sound of a lightsaber moving to deflect them.

Dagos showed up outside of the training room mentioned in a note he received a couple days ago and found a yound Jedi with sandy hair waiting out front.

"What's up, man?" he asked. Dagos could feel the excitement rolling off of him and it made him wonder if this was going to be his first group session. Dagos had gone through a couple himself but not many and was looking foreword to this one, itd been a while since he had proper saber training and even longer since he'd done it in a group session but the chance to meet some new people and make some friends was alluring beyond the telling of it.

After Jerit started to wait, another Jedi showed up. Jerit was happy! He was going to train with another pupil and possibly build a friendship out of it. The man was a little shorter than Jerit, but looked older. He gave a greeting to the fellow Jedi.

"Hello! I take it that you have received a note from my master as well? Well welcome! I am super excited to train with you! My name's Jerit, what's yours?"

So it was this Jedi, Jerit's, Master that was going to be running this group session. Dagos felt a little twinge of envy that the other young man had a Master and Dagos did not but it was small and fleeting, Dagos knew it would only be a matter of time before he had a full time master.

"Dagos." he answered "Nice meeting you, Jerit. So, Jerit, tell me about your master."

"I had only met my master for a short time, but from all the things that I have heard beyond the door, I now learned to never underestimate anybody capable of wielding the force."

Jerit enjoyed talking with the man. He was very friendly and he just could not wait to train with him.

Mabbik pushed backwards and forwards constantly in motion as he advanced then retreated. Laser blasts deflected off the short blue blade and the force flowed through the room. The sound of the door chime caught his ear. That would be his apprentice and possibly others who had decided to join.

Reaching out with the force he waited for a brief halt in the blaster fire before focusing. Channeling the force he pushed out pressing the button to open up the door. As it slid open another round of bolts cut out from the remote. Bringing his blade up in a slash he sidestepped the worst of the fire. Small size, fast reflexes, and the force allowed him to stay mostly away from being hit. "Padawan's retrieve a training lightsaber or turn down the power on your swords. We will begin momentarily." He called out focusing on ensuring his Shii-Cho blast deflection form was roughly correct with it's large movements of the blade to intercept every bolt headed for his body.

Being new, Azu was still finding his way around the academy. As such, he'd gotten a little lost. A class on the first form was a welcome opportunity; learning from somebody other than his sister Nefertari, good as she was at Shii-cho, would hopefully help the youngling retain more of it.
Azu entered right as Master Mabbik requested that they get a training blade or turn the power down on their swords.
Azu took the shiny hilt from his belt and cranked the power down. Earlier, Nef had said something about a trip to Ilum. Though he felt a connection to this blade, it would be good to have his own.

Azu was ready to learn, he waited for instruction to begin.

As Jerit walked in, he saw mounds of practice sabers and remotes. But since Jerit had his own lightsaber, he did not have to use a training one. He pulled out the sleek metal hilt from his belt and adjusted the settings to his master's liking. When he turned it on, the blade was a bit more dim. He turned it off immediately so that all the students can begin with the form I lesson without any more interruptions

Standing straight and ready, the padawan was more than ready to start his first lesson on lightsabers.

Before Dagos had a chance to keep the conversation with Jerit going they were interupted by Master Mabbik. Dagos did a great job of hiding his initial surprise. Dagos had never met a Kushiban before, in fact he'd never even heard of them.

Dagos walked in wordlessly following Jerit and another Padawaan that had just arrived. Dagos saber was already on its training setting so he sort of just milled about waiting for instruction from the Master.

At the appointed time for the training session, Arisa would slip inside the designated room. It was about this time that the Padawan present was making their introduction, and Mabbik was bringing them to order.

While the Grandmaster hadn't come with any need to learn the form, she was still dressed comfortably for exercises if she did decide to participate, garbed in black and gray military style sweats. Even in her current position, she still didn't much care to wear robes for any function.

She would give time for Mabbik to finish addressing the room before she chimed in to introduce herself.

"Good day everyone, I hope you don't mind me dropping in. Thought I'd hang out with you all today instead of going through my normal routine."

She hadn't come to take over the class from Mabbik, but to just observe, and help him out as requested. Her purpose there was to make her presence known around the temple and greater campus. As a Knight and Padawan, Arisa had often complained about the lack of visibility from Masters. Starting with herself, she was going to ensure that the Masters of the Silver Order were much more accessible, as they should be as experts of their chosen fields.

Mabbik kept his eye on the remote as the students and the grand master entered. He had to wait for a break in the firing to turn off the remote. It would be a minute however before the firing slackened enough for him to try and reach out to turn it off. Concentrating he began an advance bringing his blade sweeping upwards back into a high guard. As he did this his steps sped up creating a fast approach where he traded balance for speed. Stepping foot over foot he spun twisting his body and exposing himself but for a moment before he stretched out a paw channeling the force.

The remote's programming sped up it's firing to try to counter the rapid advanced in much the same way a sentient would. Losing accuracy as it did this it wasn't able to take advantage of a single well placed bolt to the Kushiban's side. Then the force push hit its repulsor. Dropping down as it tried to compensate it hit the mat and rolled automatically deactivating once it was no longer flying.

Panting from exertion the Kushiban deactivated his lightsaber and magnetically clipped the curved hilt onto his belt. Turning to the students he dropped to all fours and nodded. "Now let us begin the lesson, Shii-Cho is the started form and acts as a basis for all the others. It's greatest strength is how simple it is. Correct usage of the form can turn you into the most dangerous combatant on the battlefield however that does come with it's own risks. The trick to this form is letting yourself go into the force and letting it guide your actions, you must act on instinct to react to your opponent. Letting yourself go fully into the currents means you will have trouble defending against based attacks. Now if all of you will activate your sabers and assume a guard position. Now is also a good time for questions before we go into the basics."

After turning the power to low on his lightsaber, he saw Master Yune come through wearing not a robe, but clothing meant for physical activity. She said hello to everyone and said that she will be hanging out with us while the training is underway. The Padawan did not mind at all, but was a tad bit more nervous as the Grand Master of the order was seeing how they practice.

After watching his master deflect the blaster bolts and turning off the remote controlled training droids, Jerit listened as he addressed the students on Shii-Cho. Apparently, it was a form that was a basis for all others and used for how simple the form was.

He loved hearing this. Initially, he thought that the whole class would have to learn something ut of the blue that was both difficult and dedicated to do. Now he was more laid back as he listened, eager to begin. After the lecture, Jerit's master asked everyone to get into a guard position....

Jerit did not know what it was, but he tried his best. Jerit pointed his chest to the right, with his left shoulder facing outwards straight. He then placed in feet in a spread but agile position, then gripped his lightsaber with his top hand being his left and and bottom hand being his right hand.

He assumed this was a proper guard position, so he stood there, waiting for his master's next action/order....

Azu couldn't think of any questions that didn't sound stupid. Taking the hilt from his belt and falling into the basic guard position, Azu flipped the switch; causing the blade to hiss to life, shining a brilliant candy apple red.
Azu's basics were decent, but he had a feeling they'd be more than that by the time this lesson was done. Besides, it was like learning lightsaber technique from a squall! Nef would probably think Master Mabbik was adorable.
Azu waited for the rest of the class to start.
