OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

  • Intent: To create a pastoralist agri-world farmers collective colony in the furthest reaches of the Outer Rim, to give my developing character a proper home world and planet-wide organization to run. I wish to develop a minor planet-wide faction that deviates from the direction of the other factions in which I have an entity that is governed as a peaceful-mutual collective. The purpose is to provide a neutral haven that can act as anyones home base without fear of reprisal or backlash, as the planet is intended to be an ignored peaceful backwater where one can be free and live simply in any number of different ways. For those who want to develop a simple civilian character (or even grey jedi) that leads a common existence (which is my intention for my character, but in a leadership role.) It is also a haven for those who wish to develop a Colonist/Frontiersman character exploring the wild and fighting beasts. Also good for those with a character that they have facing a religious revival or having a self-exploration arc.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Unov
  • Demonic: Free Unovian
  • Region: Far Outer Rim
  • System Name: Unov
  • System Features: Single Yellow Dwarf star called Onarv, has three dead terrestrial satellite moons: Kuv, Ob and Arc all three of which have essentially basic star-yards for commercial vessels. Solar system has a single outer belt known as the Kirov Band made up of Ice-Like Volatiles, rotational period: 30 Hours with 400 days in orbital year. Two other Gas-Giant planets are in the solar system, Vov and Tirov-these are uninhabitable.
  • Coordinates: T57, about 5 light years from system star. Outer Rim.
  • Major Imports: Technical goods such as tools, industrial input for manufacturing, farming equipment, a large assortment of droids, ships, entertainment products
  • Major Exports: Is a breadbasket, largely produces a vast variety of food: Livestock, Dairy, Seeds, Fish, Natural Oils, Vegetable/Fruit production and Farming tools. Has a sustainable mining industry producing Lommite and Durrelium. To supplement mining industry, there is a modest refining industry to produce ingots. Small-time dockworks that mainly repair and construct civilian sub-light craft and terrestrial craft can be found in most major starports as well as settlements.
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: Has a standard atmosphere and gravitational pull.
  • Climate: Temperate/Tropical
  • Primary Terrain: Large inland seas are scattered around a largely terrestrial world that has an assortment of low-lying flat savannas, great plains stretching from the inner equatorial region. Around the equator are at sea-level or below lush jungles and swamps. Around these natural areas there is present large-scale cultivation. Near the poles are dense temperate forests. There are lone-mountains that are often volcanic in nature that suddenly rise to the surface at random points, reaching many tens of thousand of feet. There are about a dozen of these, the tallest of which reaches 40,000 feet, Mount Unbris-a mountain of mythic qualities.

  • Major Locations:

  • Unuovri: The largest settlement on the planet Unov that hosts a majority of the planets on world industry and markets. This settlement is the home to the Federation of Unov's collective authority and council where various global collectives meet under its guidance as the primary form of governance of the planet of Unov. It is here that the farming/workers collectives of the planet unite annually for decision-making purposes, is the headquarters of Federation security forces and is the hub of planned commercial activity. A very diverse local culture is derived here as a multitude of the galaxies many species come in and out of the cities hovels for temporary respite from the space-lanes, to come as colonists or to ply the Unuovri underworld.

  • Mount Unbris: The tallest of the dozen great lone mountains of Unov, reaching such heights as 40,000 plus feet at its peak. A popular tourist destination amongst spacers and locals alike who ply the low sloped mountain, covered in dense woods and rocky outcroppings. Ancient histories ascribe mythical attributes to the mountain giving it a shrouded legendarium amongst long-time locals who attest to supernatural happenings on its slopes along with tales of battles and family drama from eras gone by. The mountain is at all times enshrouded with an inexplicable dense fog that baffles planetary meteorologists as to why temps are not lower or close to Alpine. However the mountain seems to defy these common patterns quite unusually, its weather being perpetually misty, calm and cool like that of a rainforest. Around its base is a vast sea of open rolling grasslands where huge herds of domestic beasts of burden and food can be found being moved about by colonial ranchers/herders who make up isolated farming collective/homesteads. Also, about the very edges the slopes are low swamp-like fens, these are dense and filled with shallow water reed-grass.

  • The Irisdun Jungle: A lush wet band of dense jungle that wraps about the entirety of the planet nearly unbroken for thousands of miles. The jungles and swamps of the great jungle are fed by two large inland seas located in the planets largely uninhabited south that are no better than massive fresh-water lakes filled with a vast magnitude of aqua cultural fauna. A vast array of exotic plants, insect and animals (primarily reptiles) call this region home. Alongside these wild protected areas of the jungle are sparse colonial towns and farming villages that many locals call there permanent home, it is in these lands that vast plantation works are developed by the inhabitants ensuring a constant booming harvest of tropical plants and beasts of burden.
POPULATION
  • Native Species: None. The planet was for most of its history, an uninhabited stop-over world. Evidence of simple camps and of immigrated cultures stand as monuments to this fact.
  • Immigrated Species: Yarkora, Human, Anx
  • Population: Sparsely Populated
  • Demographics: Predominantly populated by Yarkora colonists, though with a highly diverse set of species living in the few large towns and cities there are. Significant number of human and other alien prospectors. Welcoming to all species and cultures.
  • Primary Languages: There is no standard language, but the majority speak Galactic Standard, Yarkoran etc.
  • Culture: Society on Unov is simple and largely pastoralist if not outright frontier like. Merchants guilds and other peddlers find there way to local starports while the rest of society tends to fields and flocks. Light industry employs general laborers and tradesman. Long-time locals and more remote villages tend to keep up long held superstitions and legends carried down from prospectors by word of mouth, otherwise, a few Yarkora maintain a sense of there primitive rites and rituals. The majority of the populace are either just plain not religious or are out-an-out atheist. As most of the populace are simplistic and working class, many find little time to dedicate to cultural activities such as the arts or sport, but as with any culture, downtime is spent playing simple games, socializing or any assortment of outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, scouting and hiking. Unuovri is the center of cosmopolitanism on Unov where most of the liveliest of cultural activity finds its place, most of what you can find in the way of entertainment and culture seen around the galaxy can be enjoyed here.
  • GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Communalist Federation of Pastoralists & Workers
  • Affiliation: The Federation of Unov is independent and does not officially align itself with any galactic government, however, many small time mutual companies and co-operatives do their business and draw personnel on the planet.
  • Wealth: The economy is nearly all barter with high elements of redistributionism and resource-sharing abound. There is no official currency but for a permanent stock of foreign credits and currency collectively held by the Federation for when foreign products are needed to be purchased on mass, or for contracting purposes. There is no such thing as individual wealth as all basic necessities are essentially met and currency does not exist.
  • Stability: High Stability. Pastoralist Communes united in a single Federation. Very free, absolute social and civil liberty. Rule of common law. Low-crime rate, but like any society still has its share of underground happenings and trouble.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Society is very Relaxed, Open and accepting. The government is ruled via a system of Direct Democracy upheld and maintained by a neutral, highly professional non-partisan based Bureaucratic system of Councilors and secretaries. Seats of leadership are not invested into one figure but a unified Federal Council of the planets communes.

MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY

  • Military: Largely Demilitarized. Low-Level security & police forces are common. When necessary, the Federation has a stipulated by-law that every citizen of the planet be enrolled into a planet-wide Militia force in times of emergency. In times of peace, this force only exists "on paper" or under voluntary association. Each commune is charged with maintaining its own Depot and provide regimented basic training when called upon. Officers are elected or are chosen from the security forces. Officer structures for this force also largely only exist "on paper".
  • Technology: Being a largely pastoral and industrial society, only as much tech as personally suits the inhabitants needs, which usually doesn't extend beyond that tech that provides and maintains basic life necessities. The Federation itself strives to maintain a high degree of technological & scientific parity with the most cosmopolitan regions of the galaxy, but on a very small scale.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The planet was never truthfully, or officially "discovered" per-se, it was primarily through natural happen-stance that sentient beings on their way traveling the star-lanes would every so often stop on Unov. For most of its history over the eons, Unov was a sort of 'last-chance' respite for spacers and traders as a watering hole jump off before they blazed the now permanent hyperspace trade lanes. Being a highly curious, space fairing species who had committed to a general diaspora from their home world, many Yarkora colonists found their way to Unov, relishing in the planets pastoral qualities. The first of these colonists banded together as a commune and founded what is now the great city of Unuovri, building its first permanent structure many centuries ago during the classical period of the Old Republic. Unov is largely a planet on the very edge of galactic society, for a long time it didn't even have a society to speak of! Given its status as a spacers no mans land, a vast planet teeming with vegetation and pleasant climes but without any discernible resources-and its vast distance from much of known space, Unov never gained much popularity or traction in the past that it may have now. It was a planet so unheard of, so drab and with so little political or social importance that it even lacked a place on the Jedi/Republics official star charts for centuries. Ever since the grand peril and destruction wrought by the wars of the Republic and the One Sith, many in the wake fled to previously ignored hovels of the galaxy looking for peace and a place to be ignored. One such place was right here on Unov, where most of the newest mass-influx of settlers are transplants from planets ravaged by war or ground down by oppression and poverty in the over-crowded city-worlds of the Mid-rim and Core. Unov and its Federation continues to grow and its colonies multiplying, but with the galactic dust now settled, only at a trickle. However, erudite collectives, hermits, prospectors and refugees continue to explore and call this place home. Only time will tell if the Federation of Unov will seek to cast its lot with outlanders or stay complacent in pleasant isolation-for Unov has a great mystery surrounding it still, even after eons-much of it is still unsettled, wild and exceedingly ancient-maybe it should stay that way.

An interesting submission, but I am gonna need you to move your picture to the top of your submission first.

I also am unsure about the entire planet being controlled when it comes to its atmosphere. It seems strange that they would have access to this rare tech, but otherwise be less developed than the rest of the core.

Why not just make this a lush agricultural world from the get-go?

This was a concept of 'controlled weather patterns' I had entertained when first writing this up and then abandoned as I developed, I guess I just forgot tor remove it from that section.

I will remove it, thank you.

I have made further corrections to the above narrative. Specifically, I've omitted the mentions of manipulated weather ad climate. I have also moved the image I have chosen to represent the world.
