DESCRIPTION
In the beginning of the Galactic Republic, the original Galactic Republic, the Muun were there. The Muun’s home planet of Scipio and their largest colony Muunilinst were both rich in natural resources. The planet’s riches along with the Muun’s natural talent in mathematics allowed the Muun’s Banks to literally fund the expansion of the Republic. New settlements, trade corporations, shipping cartels, commerce guilds all expanded from the Core to the Outer Rim on the Muun’s Credit. The business was so profitable as to eventually dominate the Muun’s entire economy, and with it arguably the Republic itself. Thus the Muun became known for credits, headed by Intergalactic Banking Clan.
This continued for millennia, as the IGBC became a household name. The Clone Wars however, brought the IGBC much trouble. Using its security force it bolstered the Confederacy of Independent Systems, with Muunilinst eventually becoming a battle site. Efforts were maintained to be publicly neutral, but throughout the war the IBC’s Chairman was executed, and new leadership had to be chosen. Later the Galactic Empire would largely leave the IBC alone, as they feared potential consequences of a Galactic Recession. This lead to the IBC becoming the Creditor for the Galactic Empire’s currency.
As nations continued to rise and fall after the Clone Wars the IGBC remained a powerful economic force to the galaxy, maintaining the “status quo”. At least until the terrorist Zero changed the galaxy. With the Gulag Plague ravaging the galaxy people spent less. Traveled less. Paid less. Even after the 400 years darkness business simply wasn’t as usual. The trade connections and contacts that used to be there simply weren’t anymore. The infrastructure was gone. The Chairman Lan Porgata worked to rebuild those ties, but lost steam and results after a time. He was replaced as Chairman and CEO by Mars Tonith.
Under new management the IGBC has set a new direction, to increase its retail and commercial banking operations. While the IGBC is certainly a for-profit institution it practices honesty with its customers, and does not hide fees or deceive its customers. All terms of loan, credit, savings, and checking accounts are made clear in negotiations up front.
RATIONALE
Mars Tonith was appointed Chairman and CEO by the Core Five in order to give new stability and direction to the IGBC.
