Tetan Knights: Dirty old Town

Empress Teta, jewel of the core. Cai looked down at the planet as his shuttle swooped low. It was like Coruscant, only dirty and filled with grime. The planet was important for a number of reasons. Most people knew that it was considered a rival to coruscant in society and fashion, but nearly all recognized it was a poor rival at that. No the real importance of the planet was carbonite. The planet's vast reserves of carbonite made up for a substantial portion of all carbonite in the galaxy. It was widely used in the transport of goods, able to keep organisms alive, or make safe the transport of volatile materials. Carbonite had made the planet rich, and made it one of the largest and most populated worlds in the galaxy. The great families of Empress Teta had been made rich of the profits of the mining guild, each receiving a share of the profits from the export of carbonite.

Cai told all this to his apprentice, a young boy with... well issues. "It's important that you know this," he assured the boy as he started the shuttle on it's landing sequence. They landed on the pad without incident. Cai sighed. He wasn't used to this type of work, not anymore. He had been something of a law man for awhile after leaving the military and joining the Jedi ranks. But now...

"The mining guild is threatening a strike. They have legitimate concerns, and they have asked the Jedi mediate an agreement between them and the local nobility who run the carbonite cartels here on Teta." Arching his eyebrows he looked at the youth, "You are to be on your best behavior."

He couldn't keep up the look for long before he smiled at the youth and tussled his hair a little. "You'll do fine, I'm sure." Cai hoped...

13 was...concerned. He felt odd. Being with the man who released him from his prison was a strange feeling to him. Being half animal 13 felt a strange connection with master cai that went deeper than just Master and Apprentice. It was almost like a connection a dog had with its master...and even then 13 couldn't find the right analogy for it. Apparently master Cai was taking 13 to get some hands on with a negotiation. Why they didn't just kill them was beyond 13 and as the shuttle started to touch down Cai spoke to 13. Telling him to be on his best behavior. Submissively 13's furry wolf ears flattened on top of his head and he nodded. Then that stern look turned into a smile and he ruffled 13's hair. The boy looked up brightly and his tails wrapped around his waist begged to be free. Cai still didn't know about his tails and 13 didn't want to show him in fear of being rejected.

Cai wrapped his arms around the youth and gave him a quick reassuring hug before standing up and walking to the shuttles doors. The the door opened up and revealed a delegate standing and waiting. He was human, or perhaps near-human, like most of the upper echelon inhabitants of the planet. "You're here to learn from my example. We solve our problems by talking them out whenever possible. That is what is happening here." The loss of revenue from the Carbonite strike was not just effecting Empress Teta but the Republic as a whole, it was important that the issue be settled. "It is our job to listen to both sides and mediate. Do you know what mediate is? It's to hear both sides of the argument and help them come to an understanding and an agreement."

The delegate stepped forward beaming a smile at 13, "And if everything is done right, no one is happy."

Cai let out a laugh, "No one is upset either."

"Well yes, I suppose that would be an optomistic way to look at it." The two men exchanged hand shakes. "I will show you to your room. The first meeting isn't for another few hours, you can get settled, freshen up and research the conflict."

Cai nodded politely, he had already researched the conflict and knew as much about it as he would before he met the two delegates. The break would give him some opportunities to spend some more time with 13, maybe even get him to choose a name. "thank you," he said as the pair was escorted to the finely furnished room.

13 gasped when Cai hugged him and he simply froze. He didn't know what emotion felt right so automatically he chose fear and things in the shuttle started to shake with his fear. Cai let go and suddenly the feeling was gone and 13's cheeks were red. His emotions were so suppressed he could only feel so many. He explained to 13 why they were here and he nodded. Not a while later they were led to a large room 13 had never actually seen before. It was to nice compared to the cage he spent most of his time in. He looked up and Cai and tilted his head.
