Teh Te Prudiise - From the Shadows [Kamon Vondiranach]

Concord Dawn
0900 hours

It had been two weeks since Ailyn had received word from one of her contacts that one [member="Kamon Vondiranach"] had been sighted on the Mandalorian world. it wasn't often that people from outside mandalorian space traveled there, but it did happen occasionally. And when it did, people tended to notice. Frowning, Ailyn leaned back and kicked her feet up on the table as she scanned the tapcafe. It was one of several in the 'city'. If the settlement was to be called that. It was more of an overgrown farming community than an actual city.

And yet, she was glad that it was relatively easy to find one's way around the place. She'd found the tapcafe without much difficulty. According to her information, her target had been sighted here just yesterday, and seemed to be frequenting the place. She grimaced slightly under her buy'ce the tiingular was.. passable, but their behot left much to be desire. it was.. too weak, and very bitter. She shook herself slightly and turned her gaze towards the door as she watched fir him from her vantage point in a corner booth.

One might wonder why she was suddenly so interested in him. Her reasons were relatively simple. Through her sources, she'd gotten word that he'd been sighted in this settlement several times, and also tracked into the forests. While reports of his activities outside the settlement were vague, there was reasonable evidence to suggest he was connected to a handful for murders over the last few days.

Those murders were mere warmups. Kamon was on a mission from the Force, and he wasn't about to stop now. Not for anyone. Sure, he wouldn't start a war. His actions now were not the actions of the Black Sun's, and he made sure that it was known that anything he did had nothing to do with them. That's why he'd stolen a Republic personal craft and flown it to Concord Dawn rather than taking one of the myriad of vessels that was available to him.

Anyway, those murders had been nothing but games for him. He'd been testing the waters to see what kind of force the Mandalorians would send after him, if they'd send one at all. When it did come, it came in the form of a single female. Not much more than a scoff in his direction. Idiots didn't know who they were messing with.

So as she sat and watched the door, Kamon lurked outside, watching the little cafe. Of course there were other threats around, but the only one that really mattered was the one that was sent for him. He waited until a sufficiently large group of people were walking outside of the place, welled the darkside up within him, and unleashed it in a pure explosive rage that shattered the exteriors walls inwards, sending debris and the bodies of those who'd been outside flying within the space.

Just his way of saying hello to one [member="Ailyn Kelborn"].

The sound of shattering glass brought her head around, and she ducked on pure instinct, bringing her armored forearms and gloves hands up to shield herself. She was wearing a helmet, but one could never be too careful. She crouched on the floor as shards of glass fell to the floor with a faint musical sound. The table and the rest of the booth had somewhat protected her from the blast, but she still found her ears ringing slightly as she stood up.

Gritting her teeth, she stumbled for a few seconds before she regained her footing and made her way towards what used to be the building's front window. It now was nothing more than a mass of glass shards glittering across the ground. She muttered a curse and cautiously picked her way out of the destroyed building before she scanned the street. It was.... a bit chaotic. And to be honest, she wasn't sure if she could track [member="Kamon Vondiranach"] in such conditions. But then, she supposed that had been the point.

Taking a moment to get her bearings, she slipped around the side of the building and moved along parallel to the street as she scanned the area with her sensors. According to his profile, Vondiranach was partial Echani. This meant that he had a particular genetic marker that could possibly be tracked using a bioscanner. When equipping for this mission, Ailyn had made sure she had such a scanner in her possession. it was the only way she knew of to track him in a place like this. And that is just want she did.

It certainly wasn't the most... expedient of methods. But, slowly, she began to pinpoint his location. Her scans led her to a building near the edge of the settlement. It was worn and a bit sunbleached. And it showed signs of recent habitation as she scanned the surrounding area. A pile of trash here... empty crates there. He certainly wasn't making much effort to conceal his presence. And she began to wonder why.

The why was simple for him: he didn't care to. This wasn't about playing hide and seek, this was about eliminating a threat amongst other threats. That was why he was on the world in the first place. He'd tracked someone there that was a threat to the galaxy as a whole. Well, they hadn't been yet, but if they'd still been alive they would have become a threat to the galaxy. Now they were nothing more than carrion feed for whatever creature managed across their carcasses.

Inside of the building, he stood facing the door in his golden armor. A series of small metal blades rotated around his form. Each of them was spinning independently of the others, a testament to his ability to concentrate and manipulate the Force to his will.

She was outside. He could feel her just as she was tracking him. Why had she come? Did she really think she could take him on alone or was there more to this gambit than met the eye? He was intrigue by that, but he was going to have to kill her, so in the end it didn't really matter. Anything, and anyone, that got in the way of his efforts to cleanse the galaxy of that which ruined it was destroyed summarily. It didn't even matter if it was his own offspring that stood before him. All that opposed him would fall.

So he waited for [member="Ailyn Kelborn"] to enter, as he was in no hurry. It was her that was coming to die, not the other way around.

After a few seconds to consider, she did just that. Her steps were slow and cautious, and she kept her Ripper MK II firmly in her grip as she came out of the entryway and saw him. She slowed to a stop and her head dipped for a moment, though she kept her gaze on him. 'A Force user...' she thought. 'Feth it... what have I gotten myself into..?' Shaking herself mentally, she swore under her breath. She'd taken this contract because she felt the need to bring justice for those who had been killed by his hand. As far as she knew, they had been innocents who had merely gotten in the way.

And yet... here she was about to face him down one on one. No backup. No one to call in for help. Maybe she was being jare'la. Or maybe she felt the need to prove something. To herself, and others. She wasn't really sure what her motivation was where that was concerned. But, she was here, and she would make an effort to see the contract through, even if she died doing so.

Setting herself, she tightened her grip on her ripper and stepped towards him one slow step at a time, until she was perhaps a dozen paces away. Sure, she was nervous. Scared, even. But she was no coward. If this was to be her death arena, so be it. Taking a deep breath, she looked across at him. When she spoke, her voice was low, and surprisingly firm. "I'm fairly certain you know why I'm here, [member="Kamon Vondiranach"]...."

"Yes."

Knowing was half the battle, as they said. Of course he'd known she was hunting him, which was why he'd said hello earlier in such a fantastic fashion. The fact that she'd still come after him was, in some senses, admirable, though it was clearly also foolish. She was outgunned in this battle and she had to know it by now. That told him she had guts, but she was just going to be another death on his hands. Those that stood in the way had to die.

The first thing he did was reach out through the Force towards her gun with the intent of completely crushing it within her grasp. If she was without her weapons, how would she be able to face him in combat? His aim was to end this quickly. He wasn't about making people suffer, he was about change.

"You stand in the way of the future, and for that you will die. Accept this, [member="Ailyn Kelborn"]. If you do not, it will only be worse."

She blinked at him in mild surprise as [member="Kamon Vondiranach"] spoke her name. Well, she shouldn't be all that surprised, she supposed. As much as she knew about him, he had to know who she was, and her reasons for finding him. Her eyes narrowing behind her visor, she gasped as she felt an unseen hand trying to crush her gun hand. The pressure intensified, and she reflexively dropped the weapon as if it had burned her. It was useless now anyways.

Muttering under her breath, Ailyn kicked the useless hunk of metal away from her and spread her hands from her sides, a hidden knife sliding into her palm. She knew that melee weapons and such weren't much against the Force, but it was what she had, along with a few other things. She stepped sideways, letting her armor's computers track him as she kept him in line of sight.. and tried to come up with a strategy.

No gun and she still didn't give up. That was intriguing. Still, not good enough. She had a knife now. Small help for her under the circumstances. He still had his series of metal blades rotating around him, but he wasn't doing anything with them just yet. She was circling, and he was looking for weaknesses in her armor. If there were any, it had to be her arms and legs in the places where there wasn't any armor. Small gaps, but they could hinder her movements and make her easier to kill.

"Why do you continue? You will only die."

This woman, [member="Ailyn Kelborn"], was not going to give up. She would rather die than give up to a half-Echani who'd been killing her people. Well, if that was her choice, he would oblige her, though for the moment he waited to see what kind of move she would make.

She laughed, the sound sharp in the space between them. "Why? Because I don't give up easily. Mandos are stubborn. And if you know as much about them as you claim to, you'd know that..." She flexed her fingers around the knife and continued to circle for a few moments more. Maybe she was jare'la... but she didn't much care. Her eyes narrowing behind her visor, she circled [member="Kamon Vondiranach"] once more before suddenly ducked sideways and behind him, slashing low towards the back of his leg. If the blow connected, the blade would sink in through the gap in the armor and into the flesh and muscle beneath.

The blade connected. Normally this would cause serious problems for someone in an armored suit. She'd hit a joint, which was smart. What she didn't know was the fact that his legs were robotic from just above the knee down. Same for his left arm. And the right arm? Well, that was Vong shaped. For various reasons, too. Of course he chose to keep that little bit to himself, as the sound of metal on metal no doubt grinded against [member="Ailyn Kelborn"] 's ears.

"Clever, but it won't work against me."

He kicked backwards with the same leg, intending to catch her off guard and send her flying back away from him. If nothing else, he might break a bone or two.

His kick connected and Ailyn felt something give in her side as it did so. She stumbled backwards, the knife grating along the metal before it dislodged. Feth, that made her ears hurt. Gritting her teeth, she scrambled to her feet and set herself again. Well, that wasn't going to work. She'd have to try a different tactic. She went back to circling him for the moment, her knife still firmly in her grip. Occasionally, she would take a stab at him before backing off.

All the while, her brain was working. 'What did she know...?' According to her files, he'd had two siblings. A brother and sister. He'd also later married and had had children. From all the data she had, it didn't appear that [member="Kamon Vondiranach"] was aware of it. And so, she made up her mind. As she continued to circle, she spoke once more. "You know.... you say you are ridding the galaxy of a great evil. And yet... you seem just as bad as the ones you kill in what you do. How is that justice...?" Her tone was almost conversational as she continued.

"Would you really want your sister or brother to see you this way? You saved their lives. Do you think they would ever forgive you if they found out what it is that you do..?"

"No, I don't allow my emotions to play control over what must be done."

Her efforts resorted in blocks from his armor, but he wasn't making a move at her just yet. Not physically anyway. He sent one of his blades spinning at her, aiming to cut into a weak point of her armor if she didn't manage to get out of the way in time. He'd whittle her down or wear her out, since she wanted to talk so much. He wasn't in a particular hurry to be anywhere. She was going to die, because she stood in his way. It wasn't personal, it was business.

Then she brought up his siblings and that gave him a bit of pause. Of course they wouldn't like it. He didn't really like it himself, but he felt compelled to see this all through.

"I don't ask for their forgiveness. I can't. What I do must be done for the sake of the galaxy as a whole. You don't understand what I've seen, you just think death is deplorable. Death in the name of saving the many is not."
