1. OOC can and will affect IC. People will cry "meta", but the OOC's influence will remain dominant regardless.
2. It's business, it's not personal. But understand that even if you take this to heart, your enemies/fellow writers probably won't. Try to explain this to them, it makes things way more interesting.

7. Attack the hearts and minds of the enemy's people first and foremost. This is usually done by convincing people it's either morally wrong to go to war with you or a bad idea. Propaganda helps, but keep yourself surrounded by people who share this same ideal.
8. Betrayal is the ultimate tool in warfare and makes for good storytelling. A soldier willing to betray the enemy is worth a hundred in your army. Try to use it sparingly, though, while keeping Rules #1 and #2 in mind.

War should begin way before an Invasion thread takes place. Make sure you've done as much as you can to win the battle before you take it to the battlefield. The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting. -Sun Tzu's Art of War

This is a continuation of #3. Know your enemy. Find out who you'll be fighting, and what they're capable of. Read up some past threads of their's. Talk to some people who have been up against them before. Are they cordial, nice people? Will they troll you? Do they have a record of switching sides? These are things to know.If you know the enemy and know yourself you need not fear the results of a hundred battles.
5.
Sow dissension in their ranks. A divided enemy is easier to conquer. If you're just mashing your fleets against their fleets, it'll get drawn out into a shouting match about numbers. Don't let numbers dictate the outcome, especially if you don't have the upper hand. The opportunity to secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself.
6.
Find out their strategy and do the unexpected. Remember, no matter what we do the OOC will affect the IC, so to keep the veil of secrecy you'll need to do so both IC and OOCly.Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.
