Approved Tech Tabula

Not open for further replies.
Intent: To give the natives of Viatori a metal to be used against lightsabers or blasters for a short, balanced duel.
Development Thread: N/A as it is a natural metal.
Manufacturer: N/A
Model: Tabula
Affiliation: The planet of Via, Viatori species
Modularity: Just like a typical metal, it can be smelted, forged, etc
Production: Limited, as it would need a development thread
Material: Tabula
Description:
While most other people in the galaxy, especially Force-Sensitives, use lightsabers which are easier to handle and better at basically everything, the residents of Via stick to their old ways of using metals for their swords. Tabula has been noted to be used mostly for making traditional swords of Viatori. Even though they do not fight unless threatened by somebody, most of them have swords which they don't use, but which show their independence. The metal used for these swords, the Tabula metal, is found in a certain place on Via, making the metal rarer. Yet the supply of it in this one location is high. It is lightsaber- and blaster-resistant to a degree and thus, it can be used to protect (or fight) against lightsaber-users for some time. But strengths don't come without weaknesses.

As the metal is not too rare and it is more durable than some other, popular metals, it is difficult to forge it into something and needs a really high temperature to me smelted. Everything made out of it is a lot heavier than things made out of the 'typical' metals, sometimes being even twice or thrice as heavy, but the latter is a rarer occurrence. Also, as it is not as lightsaber resistant as, for an example, Beskar is, everything made out of it can be destroyed by a lightsaber sooner or later, making things' made out of it lifetime short. Another weakness of it would be, that the items made of it become toxic as the metal gets older. However, the toxicity of this metal is not as high to destroy a person quickly, but it takes about half a year of contact with it to kill a person (it varies since some items of it may be older or newer). This is a reason, why Viatori can't pass their swords to their children because of the toxicity of it becomes higher as time passes.[/background]

The metal is mostly used for Viatori swords, but sometimes trinkets are made out of it. As it is a heavy metal, it is not favoured for much else.

Tabula ore is known by its dark green colour, but after heavy working with it to make it into an item, it turns darker, making it really dark black. Swords made out of it are famous on Via because of its interesting colour.

[member="Maria Zambrano"] - Very interesting. I only have two questions.
  • What does it look like? This is your opportunity to kind of set your metal apart from all them other metals.
  • The toxicity -- is this because of oxidation? Or just prolonged contact?

Its look has been described now, I hope it's what you were looking for:

And it becomes toxic mostly because of oxidation.

I hope it is good enough now. :)

[member="Maria Zambrano"] - Oh, one other thing. HOW toxic? Because you know someone will try and use it to poison people with a single strike or whatever.
