The stage was set for the battle to decide the rim world of Aegina. The locals, determined to defend their homes against Imperial invasion have called out to the Alliance to help them. The stage is set for a grand battle.

To the north the Alliance and Aeginans have established their defences. At Rockport the Alliance has reinforced the local garrison with some forces from the main line.
To the south the defenders have decided to contest the bridge with a sizeable force of troops to delay the Imperial attack as long as possible.
The remainder of their troops have been deployed at the main defences of the city or behind the wall at the neck.

The Imperial forces meanwhile have deployed their forces for a rapid attack on the bridge, using infantry to cross the river and assault. Their armoured and motorised forces are drawn up behind.

Both sides currently have their air power in reserve.

(At this stage it is time for Alliance and Empire to clash! I will post where necessary, but the onus is on the players to act fairly and be responsible. If you have any questions either post them in brackets here or PM me. Both sides have your deployment maps. The map below is a generalised one.
Remember, this is a strategic battle, not a character based battle one. Good luck!)

Darth Sidic marshalled his forces, sending his infantry to flank the brudge guard. He wanted this to be quick and effective. He would not be risking his motorised forces yet, they would have to wait until later. For now he sent his infantry across the east and west banks of the river, planning to use a pincer movement before the tanks and elite stormtroopers crossed the bridge. The plan was to blitz the bridge, taking it whilst losing as little infantry as possible. They were well-trained troops that he expected to succeed. Only one infantry regiment was staying behind, his own elite force to be used when things were turning against the Empire.

The 1st and 2nd line regiments were on the extremer sides of the river whilst the assault units made up the inside line. Using this they would attempt to envelope the Republic soldiers. The assault squads would be getting the main brunt of the fire but they were veterans of many wars and their experience would come in handy when taking the bridge.

As the Imperial soldiers moved around the mechanised front of the army was not standing still. It was slowly creeping forwards, just keeping out of sight of the bridge. They were not likely to be detected but they would have to be close to the bridge for the assault to succeed. Speed was going to be the ally of the attack, speed and overwhelming firepower.

The assault squads were now in place. The line regiments filed in to the north of them, curling so that they could trap the units that were protecting the key to the tanks advance. The 1st and 2nd Assault regiment then charged forward, firing their blasters and attempting to cause as much havoc as possible, moving in on either side of the bridge. Whilst this was going on the line regiments offered covering fire whilst preparing to cut the retreat of the Aegina defenders. This was it, the time that Darth Sidic had been waiting for. The hour of battle had arrived.

In preparation for the coming battle for the planet Aegina, Isley Verd of Mandalore commanded a detachment of troops to reinforce the bridge to the south. Against the Empire, he knew that his forces would most likely be out-classed, out-numbered, and out-gunned, so it was not a game of overpowering the enemy forces. No, the Aeginians could not cut the head off the dragon, but they could fell it with several greivous wounds. As such, Isley wanted to inflict as many casualities upon the enemy as possible before they advanced to the primary defensive position that shielded the city of Aegina.

As such, Isley ordered three units to contest the bridge. The 60th Assault Battalion of the Galactic Alliance took point, with their position being immediately before the bridge. The 1st Aegina Battalion and the 1st Aegina Militia took up their respective positions east and west of the 60th Assault Battalion. In time, the enemy appeared on scene, sending troops along the eastern and western banks of the bridge. This was it: the battle for Aegina was about to get begin!

As the Imperial forces began to open fire, the three field Colonels of the respective units barked orders to their subordinates, ordering them to hold fast and return fire. That they did. The 1st Aegina Militia and 1st Aegina Battalion met the forces attempting to flank them head on, blazing blaster fire into the face of their enemies. The Galactic Alliance force held face, awaiting the arrival of the forces that would attempt to cross the bridge.

The battle has been joined! The Imperials have advanced to attempt to take the Alliance in a trap, while the Alliance has deployed to meet them.

Your move, Sidic. React to Isley's move and then make your attack. Accept the casualties you think are reasonable.

Then it will be Isley's turn to respond to Sidic.

You don't need to wait for me each time, I'll only post when adjudication is needed or on other special occasions.

Good work so far!

The battle for the bridge was going to end in a victory for the Empire, of that Sidic was sure. But it wouldn't come without cost. The advance was going to go off as the attack continued but the assault regiments had taken casualties, and the line regiments lost troops as well. The bridge was taken, the forces of Aegina outclassed and outnumbered. It had been a stable victory but the wounds inflicted upon the force made Sidic rethink. Although his infantry was strong, well-trained troops, he needed speed in order to escape more casualties. They were going to rush to the city, ignore Rockport and win the battle in the quickest possible time. The strong armoured regiment and mounted artillery would spearhead the attack on the main road into the town, anyone not fast enough to keep up would keep and eye out for a counter from the western Rockport. They would not allow the enemy any time to think, attempting to hit them before they even knew they were under attack.

After the bridge battle ended in a fair victory for the Empire, the Imperial troops reorganized themselves. They would have air support for the Rockport attack. However, they were not directly striking at Rockport, at least not yet. The Darth's scouts informed him that a splinter force had left the city to make a stand at a tight spot leading onto the goal of the assault. It was not to be a difficult coming battle but Sidic refused to call his elite Stormtroopers. He feared that they would be needed in the grizly battle of the suburbs and the centre of Aegina. This was going to be a delicate attack now, his line regiment would retrieve preferential treatment when it came to mechanized transportation as they had lost less men. Few assault soldiers would be present on the attack of the bottle neck, instead trudging behind the main force, attacking as a rear guard against Rockport. They were indirectly covering Rockport, choosing to continue the advance yet watch their backs just in case.

The two squadron leaders of the air division then met with Sidic to discuss the use of air support. They were going to be present at the attack on the bottleneck before Aegina, strafing the enemy until they lacked the fuel to fly further. This was going to be their finest hour, they would time the air attack just so that as they left the armoured regiment moved in, creating a sense of hopelessness in the opposition.

"You are to crush the relief force here." Sidic explained, pointing to the position of the Alliance's forces. "You have a fair bit of room to move about, something the Alliance won't have. Unless they feel in the mood for a swim, you should be able to squash them." He smirked, although he had not told them about a possible catch. Unfortunately for the Darth, the squadron leader's were not stupid and soon picked up on the problem.

"What about anti-aircraft weapons?" They said in unison.

"Unfortunately we were not able to pick up the relevant information to help you there, but rest assured, with your flying skills and loyal wingmen you can do some real damage, avoiding any blaster fire." He attempted to motivate them, and the flattery was working, at least on the outside. Inside both commanders harboured doubts about the attack but they did not have the bravery, or foolishness, to question the Sith.

"I'll get the boys ready then." The fighter squadron leader said. And they left, preparing for the attack.

The battle was about to heat up as the armoured and artillery regiments moved in on the bottleneck, matched with air support. They would also have the support of the Line Regiments, but the assault regiments would not be present, being one of the slower forces to advance. Although they were quick in combat, they lacked the transportation of the line regiments. And the personal battalion of stormtroopers also would be present at the battle, but they would not be in the fight, instead waiting in case a dire situation arose...
