Space Legos

Rygel Larraq stood in a void-suit and watched the construction machines move past him as they worked to complete one task or another. The suit wasn't necessary where he was standing and the helmet hung loosely from his belt. He stood in the center of the command station of the first Goten-class Space Station ever built. It was the first of three prototype stations being constructed and was nearly completed. The other two were in various stages of construction a few hundred meters below it. The station had already been supplied with the construction machines and droids that would allow it to function as a shipyard and was putting those droids and machines to use as it helped to build the sister stations that would eventually be attached to the first.

This was a project that had been in the runnings for a long time now. What would have otherwise been out of his reach had become tangible by extending an offer to the Southern Systems and their trading hub. [member="Danger Arceneau"] had expressed an immediate interest when Larraq had mentioned a potential secondary design that could utilize the internal space of the massive station as an orbital colony or a trading hub. Others, such as [member="Judah Dashiell"], had expressed an interest in participation for one reason or another after word of the project had begun to spread among the SSB. Others, like @[member="Domino"] had signed on at the promise of long-term contracts for the supply of parts and components to be used in each station.

Others had offered their assistance in the design process or in the supply of other raw materials for one reason or another. Most common was for long-term contracts to provide the parts for each station to be constructed. Less common, was the individual that invested credits or design ideas into the project. These individuals did so under the agreement that a percentage of profits from the sale of each station would be awarded them according to the scale of their contributions.

Whatever their reasons, the number of contributing hands was extensive. And Rygel Larraq was here with most of them as they directed the final hours of the construction process.

Danger ain’t the sort to personally go a venturing to oversee planning and construction of deals, but she sure was interested in just what was the outcome for such a large proposition and manufacture of the stations she’ll be using to spread more influence in Mandalorian Space.

And seeing how the square jawed [member="Captain Larraq"] was also easy on the eyes and held a notable influence over manufacture and business in the territory she was looking to build fuel stations, well now, ain’t nuthin wrong with rubbing elbows, small chit chat, and maybe getting a few personal touches on those stations.

Trade, fuel, and freighter services were Arceneau Trade Company’s bread and butter, and with the ever expanding Southern Systems Business Bazaar spreading it’s wings and networking product to consumers in the most easiest way possible, Danger needed to think big.

And big was exactly what Larraq was offerin.

So it was to no surprise as the full figure of one Danger Arceneau slowly came a walkin behind the Captain himself, escorted to his presence after the Sarlaac docked upon the station.

She was here to get the five credit tour, and perhaps, well, other mutually beneficial things…

((OOC: "You know it."))

"Good to see you could make it." Larraq said to [member="Danger Arceneau"] as her footsteps heralded her arrival. He would have known without them though, the com-bead in his ear had kept him informed of her progress since her ship first arrived in the system.

Rygel Larraq turned and smiled at the approaching woman and her curvature. Were it not for the interest of the SSB in this project, and the investments and contracts that came with it, he could never have realized this project. The initial investment was simply beyond his financial resources. And he was fairly sure the woman knew it.

"As you can see, the first of the prototypes is complete." Larraq said to the woman as he took in the sight of her. For a moment, the mental image of her trying to squeeze into a Hyperion Security uniform amused and distracted him. "As you know, the first prototype uses the shipyard design. The second will utilize the design that maximized cargo space, trade floors, and administrative areas. And the third will be laid out as an orbital colony."

Turning again to gesture at the holodisplay along the far wall, Larraq continued. "We're currently on schedule to complete the second station within the next dozen or two hours. And the third station should be completed a few days later."

Danger’s profile was outlined by the overhead lights as she bore her emerald gaze past the plexiglass viewport at the assembly of the vast space station she had invested quite a large chunk of change into.

The right corner of her mouth went perking up in her obvious pleasure at the timetable he’d done told her. And with a slight flutter of her eyes and a slight twist of her neck, she shone that smile fully at the broad shouldered entrepreneur.

Well well Cap’tin Larraq… sounds like you got yourself quite a well oiled machine.” she said with a delighted coo, flashing a quick wink of encouragement just prior to continuing, her focus now turning towards the holographic display. Full hips and a slow saunter had her ambling along to that holographic emitter.

And what will be their main power source?” she asked curiously, keen gaze wandering over the holos of the three different prototypes.

Larraq stared at the holoprojections with [member="Danger Arceneau"]. "While a simple Solar Ionization Reactor is more than sufficient to power the station, the shielding that protects the work area between the arms requires a bit more power. After a few test runs, we decided to invest in a Hypermatter reactor. It's a bit much for the station and the shields, but it comes with the added benefit of allowing the station to power all of the non-combat systems of any ships docked with her." Larraq said as he watched the waves of shuttles and droids swarm over Prototype 002. "The goal there was to allow a ship with a damaged reactor to shut down for repairs, but still keep life support and other secondary systems operations. On the whole, it speeds up the repair process and also allows the station to power the hundreds and thousands of droids that call it home."

"The two variant designs don't require quite the same power supply. The orbital colony design requires considerable power for life support systems and innumerable personal appliances, so a Hypermatter or Antimatter reactor would be sufficient. The trading post design requires the least amount of power. One can get by with a Solar Ionization Reactor can power the station if the owner is willing to settle for a more standard shielding design. But in order to keep the docking areas shielded, only an Antimatter Reactor will do."

Danger gave a nod, well pleased with the information given to her by the [member="Captain Larraq"].

“Well done, Captain, “ she told him in compliment, flashing a wide smile at the man.

That’s when she asked more questions. “What about security? Just what are we talking here across all designs?’ always an important question to ask.

“What comes with it?” she had concerns of piracy and raiders, of course, for both the trade and ship repair yard.

Judah was just slightly behind the eight ball today. Arriving at the orbital station much later than planned, he smoothed out his shirt and wondered why exactly he was here. Salacia Consolidated could offer many services to Larraq. Or perhaps Judah would be doing something personally. Perhaps none of these things. Maybe Larraq just wanted to show off his shiny new project. It gave him a reason to pause however. Did Larraq hear about his own personal project and started this as a pissing match? Judah did not personally know Larraq but did buy a handful of items off his company at a recent auction.

There wasn't anyone to guide him. No one asked what he was doing. There was quite a bit of activity, so Judah suspected it didn't completely stand out.

"This is a needle in a haystack situation..."

A droid would greet Judah soon, so as the man would not be wandering lost. He would hobble over to the man, his ocular detectors blinking as he uttered apologies, " Oh my! Goodness! Forgive me master for the rudeness! Oh yes, yes. Mr. Dashiell, correct? Of course. Of course. Please follow me!"

He would then start to waddle on forward, motioning Judah to follow him. In short time, he would be lead towards the area where Danger and Captain Larraq stood.

Didn't take long for Danger's spidy senses to tingle. In this case, the presence of one [member="Judah Dashiell"], President of Salacia Consolidated. The woman slowly straightened from her leaning position against the holo array, a wide welcoming smile ever so familiar to the Trade Queen would grace upon her lips.

"Well well well...now ain't it a small galaxy after all." came her soft drawl, as she stood to make her way over in that typical sashay, her hand extended out, "Mistah Dashiell... always a pleasure," in came the wink.

"Yes, its Dashiell." Thankful for the droid's presence and programming, Judah followed along dutifully. Being a man who designed and manufactured droids for a living, Judah couldn't help notice the oddness of the automaton. Perhaps it was programming -- either faulty or intentional. Maybe lack of maintenance or the need for regular maintenance was to blame. He was used to unusual droids ; Judah had a collection of them himself. Merely an observation.

Rounding the corner, eyes spotted the flame-red hair of [member="Danger Arceneau"] . The woman's presence was never to be missed in a room. Even a person without sight could pick her out in an instant.

"Miss Areneau. The pleasure is always mine." Being the backwater farmboy gentleman he was, Judah gently took the woman's hand, lips briefly meeting the pale expanse of flesh. Straightening, Judah nodded to the other in the room. "Larraq, quite the orbital station you have."

Rygel Larraq approached a holodisplay and began typing commands when a new VIP entered the room. Looking over his shoulder at the man, Larraq nodded to him. “Welcome Mr. Dashiell. I'm glad you could come.”

“Back to your previous question Ms. Arceneau.” Larraq said as he returned his attention to the controls in front of him, Larraq pressed another button and a holographic display of the station filled the air from a projector hidden in the ceiling. The hologram was roughly 2/3rds the side of the room itself.

Before their eyes, the outer skin of the holographic station was pealed off and revealed the outer frame of the ship. Layer by layer, sections of station were removed from the hologram until only the crew quarters remained. “As a civilian station with room for approximately forty thousand crew, the station has facilities designed to accommodate roughly three thousand of those crew being security forces.” Larraq said as he pointed to various sections of the hologram. “A further hundred thousand workers and droids are housed on the station for use in the construction and repair of starships. Though, I suppose any number of those workers could be replaced with soldiers if the need arose. Personally, if I needed more soldiers on the station I'd simply dock a few troop transport ships on the station to use as impromptu Barracks.”

Emerald eyes went dancing with mirth and a touch of flirtation at Judah with the delightful kiss to the back of her hand.

"Now now... you're gonna make me blush." she said with a sugary voice, grinning widely and then flashing another wink. Her attention then went to Waid, as he began to answer her earlier questions.

She gave a nod. Good.

"Then it appears things are all in order." she gave a glance over at Judah, "What do you think Mistah Dashiell?"

[member="Danger Arceneau"] [member="Captain Larraq"]

Judah floundered a little. Coming in the middle of the presentation, he was behind the ball when it came to figuring out what this station was for. Judging by context it seemed to possibly be a place to house troops. Perhaps a wise idea if the planet was less than inhabitable or locals desired minimal interference.

"I suppose it sounds great. A floating mobile military base, I assume? Or a civilian base with a heavy military presence? Either way, seems fine."
