SIW-90XX Series Proton Beam Cannon

Status
Not open for further replies.
Intent: A superior anti-warship and anti-fighter weapon designed for capital ships, though smaller examples can be fitted to specially-designed fighters.
Development Thread: N/A
Hero Unit: No
Manufacturer: Subach-Innes
Model: Beam Cannon
Affiliation: Independent
Modularity: Yes
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Desh(weapon framework), Agrinium(weapon interior), Diatium(electronics), Quadranium(weapon armor)
Classification: Beam Weapon
Description: The 90XX is a series of variable-sized Geonosian-style beam weapons designed by the Subach-Innes Corporation as replacements for the common laser and turbolaser. The testaments to a beam cannon's superiority over lasers was, in Jerrod Subach's mind, that they were more accurate, instantaneously hitting a target and dealing far more damage with a single beam, equal in damage to a very long volley of lasers or turbolasers(depending on the scale). While a dozen SIW-9010s could easily equal the firepower of an Imperial II-class Star Destroyer, their power drain and limited field of fire per gun makes their superiority to more widespread turbolasers... questionable.

SIW-9001 Emplacement Beam
Size:
Stationary
Status: Legal
Length: 0.9m
Weight: 20kg
Ammunition Type: Portable Diatium power cell
Ammunition Capacity: 10 bursts of 3 seconds per burst, s second cooldown per shot
Range: 1500m
The SIW-9001 is a beam cannon designed to be mounted on ground-based turrets or in static emplacements. It is most effective against walkers and unshielded vehicles, but can deplete the shielding of your average tank with a single burst. While extremely accurate, the 9001 takes a while to reload, and shots must be conserved, as the weapon drains energy rather quickly.
SIW-9002 Fighter Beam
Size:
Starfighter-Mounted
Status: Legal
Length: 0.9m
Weight: 20kg
Ammunition Type: Fighter reactor
Ammunition Capacity: 3 second burst, takes 3 seconds to recharge per shot with a typical fighter reactor
Range: 1500m
The SIW-9002 is essentially a 9001 modified to work with the weapon mounts of most starfighters. Though very powerful against enemy fighters, they noticeably drain the energy of the fighter's reactor, depleting the vessel's shields and engine power for the time the burst is fired.
SIW-9003 Anti-Fighter Beam
Size:
Starship-Mounted
Status: Legal
Length: 1.0m
Weight: 30kg
Ammunition Type: Starship reactor
Ammunition Capacity: 3 0.5 second bursts in quick succession, takes 3 seconds to recharge per shot with a typical starship reactor
Range: 4500m
The SIW-9003 is a 9001 that has been heavily modified to fully utilize the increased power of a starship's reactor. Unlike the 9001 and 9002, however, the 9003 forgoes the single burst in favor of 3 exceedingly powerful beams, ostenibly to increase the chances of hitting a target. Each individual shot has half the power of a 9002's shot, giving the weapon a theoretical 50% damage increase over its smaller cousin. Utilizing a starship's reactor also allows for a drastic increase in range, allowing the weapon to be utilized against smaller pirate transports with no ill effects on the ship's power systems.
SIW-9005 Light Anti-Warship Beam
Size:
Starship-Mounted(Corvette size and above)
Status: Limited
Length: 2.0m
Weight: 100kg
Ammunition Type: Starship reactor
Ammunition Capacity: 2.5 second burst, takes 20 seconds to recharge per shot with a typical starship reactor
Range: 4000m
The SIW-9005 is a large-scale beam cannon designed for usage against enemy warships. Subach was inspired by the revelations that a long-defunct Star Destroyer, the Accuser, had utilized an Imperial prototype beam cannon to great effect during the Galactic Civil War, and as such created a beam cannon scaled up in size that was capable of being mounted on warships. The weapon itself is quite effective against corvettes and frigates, but will struggle to damage anything of cruiser-size and above. As well, multiple 9005s fired at the same time drain a vessel's shields.
SIW-9010 Heavy Anti-Warship Beam
Size:
Starship-Mounted(Cruiser size and above)
Status: Limited
Length: 4.0m
Weight: 200kg
Ammunition Type: Starship reactor
Ammunition Capacity: 4 second burst, takes 30 seconds to recharge per shot with a typical starship reactor
Range: 4000m
The SIW-9010 is the mainstay anti-warship beam in Subach-Innes' series. With over twice the power of the 9005, the 9010 can easily pierce through the shield of a Carrack-class Cruiser. A warship armed with a dozen of these is easily capable of taking down a Star Destroyer, but firing them all at once will put a massive drain on their systems, draining all shield power, though the shields will regenerate as the weapons recharge.
SIW-9050 Super-Heavy Anti-Warship Beam
Size:
Starship-Mounted(Star Desteoyer size and above)
Status: Military
Length: 10.0m
Weight: 500kg
Ammunition Type: Starship reactor
Ammunition Capacity: 7 second burst, takes 35 seconds to recharge per shot with a typical starship reactor
Range: 8000m
The SIW-9050 is the most powerful beam cannon currently in use anywhere in the galaxy. While Star Destroyers are theoretically capable of mounting one of these weapons, the power drain is so great that only Super Star Destroyers, Star Defenders, or Star Dreadnaughts have the energy to use them for any extended period of time. The weapon is immensely destructive, capable of easily boring a hole through a Nebula-Class Star Destroyer, but even a single shot will significantly drain the energy reserves of an SSD. Multiple weapons fired in sync would deplete the full shields of even the Eclipse-class Star Dreadnaught, though most enemies would likely be incapable of fighting back after a salvo of 9050s. Any use on a Star Destroyer would force the crew to power down engines, shields, and all nonessential systems to sustain a single shot.

Because I'm a plant.
Denied. This would need to be multiple tech entries for each particular beam instead of one. In addition without Role playing I currently wouldn't approve any of these, and even then it is no guarantee.
