Description:
The SI-74 Anti-Tank Rifle is exactly what one would expect from a device labeled as such.

It is an extremely heavy Particle Beam Rifle.

Particle Beams are a technology that have been in use in the galaxy for centuries, usually utilized in place of artillery or other heavy weaponry due to its nature. The Particle Beam instead of using Tibianna or Energy itself utilizes coherent particles of energy, different from a normal bolt emitted from regular blasters. The particles in this beam were not as densely packed and instead were more energized which results in a more powerful but very unstable bolt.

Of course, this means that the Particle Beam Rifle is incredibly destructive, and the SI-74 Anti-Tank Rifle is no exception to this rule.

The SI-74 was designed from the ground up to create the most powerful Particle Beam discharge while still being relatively easy to carry into combat. Eventually the system that was designed turned out to be an incredibly heavy anti-material rifle capable of doing tremendous amounts of damage to armor, flesh, and pretty much anything else that could be thrown at it.

Due to its volatile nature the SI-74's bolt is incredibly destructive. Upon impact the bolt literally explode, violently releasing energy and tearing through whatever it struck. This has a secondary benefit of releasing incredible pressure wave as well as a massive kinetic strike. The nature of the weapon of course means its incredibly effective against light and even medium armored vehicles, able to pierce through the armor and quite literally blow holes within it. Heavier armored vehicles will suffer these same effects after repeated shots, their armor being slowly peeled away.

If the SI-74 is to be used against a person the effects would be none too pleasant. Even with the highest caliber of armor the SI-74 would hurt, effectively ending most, if not all resistance if the target is directly hit.* Of course actually hitting a single small target like a human with the SI-74 would be intensely difficult.

In addition, if by some sort of luck a user manages to go up against a Jedi with this weapon, and said Jedi attempts to deflect the bolt with their saber, they would find the outcome rather painful. Instead of being deflected, the bolt would simply explode and cause massive amounts of damage, and very likely death.

Of course because of the nature of the weapon, and because of the power placed behind it, the SI-74 has more than a few drawbacks.

First and foremost the SI-74 stands out as being only a single shot rifle. The weapon uses a single powercell that must be loaded and then ejected with each shot. Once fired the weapons heat cylinders pop out and eject hot gas, capable of scalding the user if they're not careful. Once the gas is vented a new powercell can be placed in the weapon and the SI-74 is ready to be fired again. This entire process takes about fifteen seconds, which as any good sniper knows is more than enough time to get shot, or obliterated with artillery.

The second detraction of the SI-74 is its massive size and weight. There is no arguing with this fact, or trying to change it, the SI-74 is a massive weapon. It has a huge length and is hugely heavy. This weapon is a pain in the ass to carry around and an even bigger pain in the ass to aim. There is no 360 no scoping with the SI-74 and firing it takes time and preparation, this often means that the SI-74 has to be used in ambush or not at all. The weapon also has a massive kick when fired, meaning its entirely impossible to aim the weapon when standing or crouching, one must lay down to properly utilize it.

The last disadvantage that comes with carrying the SI-74 is that it is an incredibly visible. Against a skilled counter sniper, or perhaps a force user, the SI-74 is very easy to detect. It gives off an incredible heat signature and the noise it makes is incredibly loud. This means that the SI-74 is best used in conjunction with other ambush functions or in the middle of a battle, not with a single lone marksmen.

The SI-74 is now sold on a closed market basis under Vanir Technologies.

*This is poetic language, the use of this weapon is not a one hit kill and never can be. However getting hit with this weapon as a person would be incredibly deadly, so its a good thing calling hits is godmodding and thus against the rules.

While I am aware of what a particle beam rifle can do when its particle laser strikes a lightsaber, please include this in the description for future reference in the instance of any brave force users that may need to read this.
