The finer the detail of the image taken for the computer to look at the better its ability to provide relevant information about them in case of danger or confusion. The small datapad unable to search outside of its predetermined purpose of storing species and creature informatioon. The small casing is lightweight and essential for adventurers in the field.
The regional index and sections of the datapad can work on some of the things. It is sturdy case wise so it can be sat on and won't be damaged easiy if dropped or submerged in water. The screen is made to be semi shatterproof in case of impact or handling some of the larger things like trampling by creatures. Overall it is a nice piece of equipment to have on you in the field.
