Development Thread: Armed to the Teeth

Manufacturer: Legion Yun'Do, Hrosha-Gul of Selvaris

Model: N/a

Affiliation: One Sith/Hrosha-Gul/Legion Yun'Do

Modularity: No

Production: Unique/Personal

Material: Original set of amphistaff with groundmound, banelith masquer

Classification: Prosthetic limb

Size: One arm

Length: Typical arm length in arm mode, 2-3 meters when in amphistaff extension.

Weight: 4 kg

Special Features:
-A prosthetic, though living, arm that can transfer between the shape of a normal arm to that of three amphistaff emerging from the same groundmouth.
-When in amphistaff form, the tendrils can act just as the amphistaff heads. Can be spear or whip-like, shoot acid at 20 meters, and are relatively immune to saber strikes.
-Sessile-triostaff and banelith masquer are self healing.
-Arm can extend from normal arm length to 2-3 meters.

Description: Upon the world of Ashera, a man was forced to removed his own arm through the power of mentalism and the burning need to part with it. During this time, it was Matsu, the master, who turned to a friend for development of a suitable replacement. Knowing his kindred respect of the Vong, and specifically the Shai Domain, Matsu consulted with Reverance and the Shapers of Selvaris of the Legion Yun'Do for a suitable replacement. What they created was a re purposing of old biotechnology, taking advantage of the wonders of the Vong world.

The shapers got to work first with shaping the groundmouth of the trio of amphistaff. First and foremost, they developed the creature to retain a much more structurally sound integrity than the typical groundmouth. Along with this, they allowed for the development of the organism to merge with scarred or destroyed flesh, a painful process that fuses the nerve endings and skeletal structure with that of the groundmouth and the residual amphistaff lingering in the polyp (through effective chemical cauterization through redirection of small, diluted traces of amphistaff acid). It's at this point, that the ground mouth can effectively be used as a prosthetic limb for Sage Bane, his mind being capable of controlling the natural tendencies of the trio of amphistaffs. However, the development didn't stop here. Through training and tutelage, the Amphistaffs were taught to work together and coil against one another, effectively forming a standard, slightly larger, arm with effectively three appendages. Several attempts were taken to shape the heads of the amphistaff into much smaller, yet semi-potent heads, allowing for increased dexterity when coiled together. It would never be like having fiver fingers, but three is better than none.

Taking DNA directly from Sage, the Shapers developed a partial, self healing masquer (banelith masquer) that typically shapes itself in a doughnut sized ring that lingers upon the prosthetic, just beneath the groundmouth at where the bicep would run into the deltoid. When initialized, the masquer rolls down the extent of the 'arm,' covering the coiled amphistaffs with a film that gives the presentation of a standard arm from afar, if not a wounded one from some sort of childhood defect or trauma. Something easily covered with clothes. However, due the merging of the nerves and synapses, the pain of the masquer donning extends into the wearer (Sage Bane). When the arm uncoils, the explosive de-merging of the three amphistaff may and likely will destroy most of the masquer, which will then coil back into it's ring upon bicep. It's during a period of four hours that the masquer, which has been bound to the groundmouth, will take nutrients from the body in order to repair the masquer. Should the amphistaffs recoil without the masquer healed, it will have the utility of an arm without the appearance of it - something far more more gruesome in the intertwined bodies of three well trained amphistaff.

Strengths:
[+] One Arm, three amphistaffs: This limb has all the power of three amphistaffs built in one. It can shoot acidic poison up to 20 meters, is resistant to lightsaber strikes (except at the groundmouth), and can transfer from quarterstaff/spear/whip form with the use of power glands.
[+] Arm/Amphistaff mode: Can switch between the two at a whim.
[+] Appearance of a regular arm: Can have all the appearance of a regular arm, with some deformity, due to extraction of Sage's DNA.
[+] Healing: The amphistaff can heal from most wounds over the course of a week (and is extremely difficult to kill), the masquer taking 4 hours total to heal from complete damage.
[+] No signals needed: It's standard that in order to control an amphistaff, hand signals are used to coax the beast into action. Due to the grafting and connecting of minds, this step is not required.

Weaknesses:
[ - ] 4 minds, one body: Until Sage reaches the level of master mentalist, he will constantly struggle against the minds of each amphistaff, which are unique and persuasive in their own right. Once reaching Master, the minds of the amphistaffs will yield to the authority of Sage Bane, but will still remain constant presences - like shallow whispering and bickering.
[ - ] Extremely painful: Each application of the banelith masquer will be excruciating for Sage Bane, a continuing testament to the certainty of pain. Along with this, any pain interpreted by the arm will be reflected through the nerve bundles of the ground mouth (a sacrifice for selecting an organic prosthetic instead of artificial ones).
[ - ] Always hungry: By and large, the amphistaff are controlled in their apetite. But should they go too long without being fed, they will turn on either each other or Sage.
[ - ] Groundmouth: The groundmouth will, in the throes of starvation, pull from fat reservoirs from Sage to feed itself and the amphistaffs (slowly). However, the groundmouth is also the weakest portion of the prosthetic, effectively equivalent to early vondun crab armor in hardiness.

This is a well thought out, well written sub and has good balancing strengths and weaknesses.

Yuuzhan Vong Tech however is tricky, and three Amphistaffs are nothing to scoff at. This arm is an entirely new species, or rather the mixing of several old ones to a degree where it might as well be new, due to this I am going to request you do a Dev Thread of 10-15 posts relating to this Creature.
