True to playby Reeve Carney. Sage is tall, thin, and beautiful, with shaggy brown hair and brown eyes. Genetically he takes after his human mother, and although he is part Chiss, has none of the distinguishing features of that species. The only telltale sign of his half alien blood is the tendency for his eyes to glow red when he's angry or emotional. Otherwise, he looks human. Underneath his clothing he has scars on his back from repeated whippings with a bladed flogger and scars ring his neck, markings from a slave collar he once wore and the removal of a kill chip. His left arm looks normal on the surface due to a banelith masquer, but at will can become a Vong-shaped monstrosity of black tentacles with heads that spit acid at foes.
BIOGRAPHY:
One of the bastard sons of Nightslice Bane, notorious slicer and gangster for the Hutt Cartel, Sage Bane was abandoned by both of his parents only to be raised in an orphanage along with his twin sister Sayl on Nal Hutta. A difficult child who neither played well with others, nor respected the authority of the orphanage proprietors, Sage bounced around from foster home to foster home and then finally back into the orphanage once again, when he proved too unruly for permanent adoption. Once the half blood reached the age of ten, he was sold into slavery by the crooked Nal Hutta orphan masters who were being extorted by Hutts to provide young slaves to the Besadii crime family. Sage reached out to his father and begged for help, but the elder Bane simply treated him as a nuisance. Not only that, but Nightslice Bane continued to even deny his paternity of the child, especially since his son had no Chiss features. There was no one to counter this claim because Sage never knew his mother, but from the scant dealings he had with Nightslice, he assumed that she was a prostitute.
As a slave, the young Bane was sold to Jomma the Hutt of the Besadii clan. Jomma degraded and abused him until he reached adulthood. Sage was forced to do anything the Hutt wished including participating in fighting tournaments with other slaves for the amusement of Jomma and his entourage. During these trials, Sage learned that he was quite adept at fighting and through bloody combat with other slaves, honed the art of hand-to-hand combat and knife fighting.
When Sage turned eighteen, his Master, Jomma the Hutt, died in the stands during an “unfortunate” pod racing accident. The accident was orchestrated by Jomma’s sister Dasha the Hutt in a sweeping power play for her family’s businesses and cantinas, and soon, she took ownership of the young half Chiss. Dasha forced her young slave to ingest large amounts of spice in order to keep him more malleable and obedient under her watch. He stayed chained to Dasha for a few years until he finally made his escape one night when he drugged her drink and charmed the Hutt’s right-hand woman, Zeltron infochant Jorda Ulltuto, into setting him free. The Zeltron gave the young man some credits, put him on a shuttle, and sent him to Nar Shadda where he lived as a prostitute and a spice dealer for a few years. His time with Dasha had not only left him with numerous scars, but also a heavy spice addiction that was impossible to kick. Despite his drug problems, Sage worked his way up from corner dealer to drug lord for the Ko Hentota Cartel on Nar Shaddaa, but it wasn't an easy life by any stretch, especially given the increasing physical toll the spice was taking on him.
One day, the Ko Hentota cartel was raided by Ession Jedi, and during that raid, a Jedi Knight named [member="Rexus Drath"] discovered that Sage was Force sensitive. Sage was given a choice by Drath: Either join the Jedi or be arrested for drug trafficking. He chose the Jedi path, and began to train with Drath, who ordered detox for the young padawan. Sage's background made him perfect for special operations carried out by the Ession Jedi, missions in which the padawans would apprehend low-threat drug dealers and suppliers. Unfortunately, Sage's first special mission for the Jedi would go horribly awry.
During an attempted capture of a glitterstim supplier by the name of Urootor Kallos in an unnamed Shadowport, Sage was attacked and captured by the terrifying [member="Zambrano the Hutt"]. The Sith Hutt kept the half-Chiss on his sailbarge for a few long and very painful days. Zambrano not only whipped and starved Sage, but force-fed him rotten meat, among doing a number of other unmentionable things to the man. Finally, Sage escaped what was sure to be a horrible fate when he was "purchased" by [member="Matsu Xiangu"], a Sith Master in the market for new Force sensitive trainees. Matsu gave him his freedom, as well as a tempting proposition, to learn the dark side of the Force, and enact revenge on the likes of those who had previously wronged him. Force knew the list of people who had done Sage harm was a very long one indeed.
At the top of the list would be the name Zambrano.
