DESCRIPTION
The weapon of a Nautolan Jedi, Riptide was a slim lightsaber hilt that had a slight curve toward the pommel, in a departure from the standard straight hilt used by most Jedi. Though not as curved as those used for Makashi dueling, it was said to help twist the weapon for the boy's preferred lightsaber form of Ataru. A student of Jedi Knight Nefertari Sovint Nefertari Sovint , who studied the classical forms of the Old Republic and introduced them to her padawan. Zak incorporated both the classical Form IV and the modernist Fast Style into the design of his lightsaber hilt. The addition of a focusing lens supplied a finely-tuned blade, while the krayt dragon pearl supplied the weapon with additional punch when connecting with an object or other lightsaber blade.

While Master Sovint aided Zak in retrieving the krayt dragon pearl, it was Master Matsu Ike Matsu Ike that showed the boy how to cut and polish the pearl so to be useful as a kyber. The influence of the Atrisian master is visible in the ornate scrollwork that adorns the shroud.

The core krayt dragon shard produced an opalescent white blade, as well as gave the weapon a sound that was distinctive from other lightsabers when being ignited. That is, it produced a howl not unlike a faint echo of a Greater Krayt Dragon roar. As a longtime fan, aspiring to become a Jedi Guardian, Zak opted to color the blade blue.
