Description: The RI-MD1 Merrill-Class Mining Droid services to two functions: its primary function is, as its name suggests, to mine for minerals and other hidden 'treasures' beneath a planet's surface. Its secondary function is to act as a planet-bound exploration droid, specifically to prospect the ground in search of useful ore deposits. While it cannot be sent through space it is capable of being dispatched onto asteroids and moons to fulfil the above mentioned tasks. Being primarily a Class Five droid, it is unable to do anything outside of its two programmed functions. While the mining tools may look like they could deal some damage the droid itself would never be coaxed into an offensive mode. It is there to fulfil its purpose and nothing more.
