Quick Cargo Run Home

Star-Wars-1313-1-1041428.jpg
Whether it was under Republic or Sith control, Coruscant was Coruscant. For Pollux, whatever happened politically remained of little concern to him. Whatever the circumstances were, there were always customers and demand. Pollux's business lied simply in getting assignments and missions done. He cared very little outside of that as long as he was paid well, the Kiffar pilot did not mind dangerous missions.

Now this particular mission wasn't going to be a very dangerous mission. It was literally a trip home for him, just a quick cargo run from Coruscant to his home planet in order to ship some various cargo. He had just the right ship for the cargo run, too. His ship for the mission, YT-1300, didn't look like much from the outside, but Pollux's friend that had flown the ship just a day ago assured that the ship was in its prime condition. YT-1300 was a rather costly ship, but it had been affordable after Pollux and his group of friends decided to pool in together some cash to buy the ship. Now they took turns using the ship for their various missions.

"What's the cargo exactly?" asked Pollux's co-pilot and friend, Jax Renton, as they worked together to load up their ship with cargo over 50-tons. "All you need to know is that after this mission, we'll have the credits to stay for some time at a luxury hotel, my friend. Or in fact, afford another ship." Pollux responded with a grin, checking to make sure that all of the durasteel container cargo had been loaded.

"Completely legal stuff." Pollux assured his friend, before firmly sealing the cargo area of the ship shut. "Alright, let's run through the pre-departure checklist." he said as they took their seats at the cockpit. In a few minutes, they would be all set to depart.

Coruscant always had an admirable view to it. It was a planet covered entirely covered in urban landscape after all. The planet's durability was incredible as well. No matter how destructive an attack or an invasion, Coruscant always rebuilt. It seemed that historically, no faction regardless of size or power seems to have possessed any ability to bring harm to do this planet. Such was the reason why Pollux liked Coruscant. Cheap drinks, constant demand of good pilots/smugglers, and a plethora of Twi'lek dancers were extra bonuses.

"Alright, what's our destination, Pollux?" The Kiffar pilot's thoughts were interrupted by his friend's inquiry. Without directly answering the question, Pollux leaned to the side for a few seconds to punch in their destination coordinates and to get the ship prepared for hyperspace. "Corellia." he finally announced, as he continued prepping.

Within a few minutes, Pollux's YT-1300 had climbed out of Coruscant's underground levels, and out into Coruscant's open atmosphere. The darkness of the underground was abruptly replaced by bright sunlight, streaming in through the cockpit. "it's been what, two weeks since I last came above ground?" he mused to himself. It was too easy getting caught up in the under-ground Coruscant life, and time always passed by so fast. After all, you can't really tell day and night when you are in the underlevels.

"We'll be going into lightspeed in about a minute." Jax announced, and Pollux nodded. The skyscrapers had now grown into miniscule spots on the ground, and the sky around them became darker as they approached upper atmosphere. This mission was going by very smoothly at least for the time being, Pollux thought as he drank his morning coffee, waiting on his co-pilot to inform him of being prepared for hyperspace.

"Alright, hit it, Jax." Pollux said as Coruscant became smaller and smaller, until the scenery around them became filled with darkness of space, only illuminated by lights from stars and planets. Upon his command, Jax used the controls to propel the ship into hyperdrive. As they accelerated to lightspeed, the surrounding scenery changed into the bright swirling mix of black, blue, and white of hyperspace. "Here we go..."

Jax relaxed in his seat, knowing that there wasn't much in hyperspace that could pose a threat to them. Well, there was always a chance that they could have possibly typed in the wrong coordinates, which would result in them being turned into space dust in a matter of seconds. But that was a minor concern, it was a risk that all pilots took when using lightspeed.

"So where exactly in Corellia are we headed to?" Jax questioned as the YT-1300 sped out of Sith space and through what was probably Republic space, at hyperspeed. "The Golden Spaceport, my friend. Where my client is at." Pollux announced, taking another sip of coffee.

The jump from Coruscant to Corellia wouldn't take too long, and soon, their ship would make it past Republic territory before entering Omega Protectorate space, where Corellia was located.

"Corellia." Pollux announced, as their ship dropped out of hyperspace, and the planet of Corellia jumped into the view right infront of them. Hopefully there would be no run-in with the Protectorate authorities. Chances were, however, that they would be able to complete the mission without much further trouble. It really didn't make sense, why his client had agreed to pay him such a large sum, for such a simple cargo run. As his co-pilot Jax piloted the YT-1300 manually to its descent into the planet's atmosphere, Pollux decided to check the cargo to make sure.

He leaned against the durasteel containers in his cargo area, wondering what in the world could possibly be in there. Pollux had been forewarned, however, to not dare open the containers, as that would terminate their contract. Thus Pollux decided he would not be taking any chances. Checking to make sure everything was secured for landing, Pollux returned to the cockpit.

Soon the black void of space was replaced with the dazzling lights of Corellia's city landscape. Corellia wasn't a completely city-filled planet like Coruscant, but it did have similar elements to the former Republic's capital. It seemed that the Protectorate was doing a fine job keeping the city safe from the forces of the Sith so far. It was nearly dusk in the planet. The sun was setting off in the distance, and the spaceport that their ship was headed to gleamed in golden light, living up to its name. "So we're finally here. Where's that client of yours, Pollux?" Jax questioned impatiently as he flew their ship towards the spaceport off in the distance. "I want to be drinking Corellian Ale with Zeltron girls by nightfall."

Within ten minutes, their docking bay came into view. Pollux had already sent their message of arrival to his client, who was no doubt waiting for them. They had entered into the skies of Golden Spaceport, where goods of all types were brought in and out. The constant flow of goods obviously meant that there was heavy air traffic in the area. Carefully and skillfully navigating through the skies, Jax maneuvered their ship down towards their scheduled docking bay. As they descended, Pollux headed to the back of the ship to prepare the cargo to be taken out.

"Finally... how simple was that? No trouble, just easy credits." Pollux said with a smirk to Jax. It wasn't that they had expected trouble of any kind anyways. It was simply surprising how much credit and future employment opportunities their client had offered to them in return for their service. With a soft thud, the YT-1300 landed on the docking bay. Flipping a switich from inside the cockpit, Pollux lowered the cargo bay to place the heavy durasteel containers onto the bay. "Stay with the ship, Jax."

With that, the Kiffar pilot headed out to meet his client. ([member="Darth Junra"])
