Description: Originally designed based on the many schematics stolen by [member="Jessica Med-Beq"] during the Omega War, which were transmitted to all Jedi Orders across the galaxy, [member="Cathul Thuku"] realized that the Alliance navy had one glaring weakness: a lack of a proper heavy battlecruiser. She knew that, while the First Order was a force to be reckoned with in space, she found that the Alliance was too reliant on attack craft to successfully keep the First Order at bay in space, and that the Darr Itah was a periodical nuisance among Alliance naval personnel, especially among the Admiralty. Its first operational use was on Inysh, where it was Cathul's flag as the triage point was established, before being recalled to Hakassi for repairs, due to it.

It was decided that, combining the sheer power of the Immortal into a ship intended for filling the role the ancient Procurator-class may be able to fill the intended role. Of course, everyone and their dog in the Alliance navy accepted that the ship would have to be slow and unwieldy so Cathul set out to design a ship with good weapons coverage across all arcs so that it could be prepared even against flanking maneuvers. And also a high number of squadrons was called for, especially since the ship was expected to be a sector flagship. The main ventral hangar houses six squadrons, whereas each auxiliary hangar could host one squadron each. The large number of attack craft is there so that a fleet with a Procurator-X as its flagship could overwhelm the enemy point-defense.

Due to the sheer size of the Procurator-X, and the naval strategy of the Alliance, only eight units have been built, with no more than one under the command of a given admiral at any given time. It is in all respects an elite ship and is restricted as such. Also, as with most battlecruisers, it is expected to spend a lot of time in port vs. being operationally deployed. And it had a troubled history: the personnel assigned to the project always joked among one another that the entry in service will be delayed for yet other additions. Understandably, because of the desire by Alliance authorities to prioritize quality over quantity, especially since battlecruisers were expected to be built in very limited numbers, high cost was not as big a concern as it would have been on Star Defenders, even heavy ones. Each unit ultimately ended up costing almost five times as much as heavy Star Defenders ~2000m long the Alliance used in operational service.

The trench batteries allow for 180-degree firing arcs: as such, there are 30 triple Gatling turrets on each trench broadside, as well as two Nekogals and one Bulkhunter in ball turrets. In a departure from conventional wedge designs, the superstructure and the conning tower are closer to the center, allowing for better coverage of the aft arc than on most ships designed using wedge-shaped hulls. Due to the guided nature of the proton torpedoes and other missiles, these weapons can be fired across all arcs. Three of the hypervelocity cannons are ventrally-mounted, with the last two being dorsally-mounted along the ship's centerline. On the dorsal spine, are located the rest of the heavy hardpoints, laid out in an oval around the superstructure: 8 Nekogal and 4 Bulkhunter hardpoints. But the most terrifying weapon mounted onboard is the Volksgrenadier heavy cloaking MIRV missile. Capable of longer effective ranges than conventional assault concussion missiles, under cloak, it would unleash its payload at standard proton torpedo ranges. Also, 58 extra heavy flex-tube launchers provide the additional punch to overwhelm enemy point-defense.

Yet, Cathul knew that, on occasion, battlecruisers would also be used for something other than combat, such as spearheading attempts at rebuilding planets or supplying ground forces in system campaigns: for this reason, this ship's cargo capacity is roughly the same amount as the Darr Itah is rumored to have, that is, a few million tons which, by battlecruiser standards, is astronomical. Also, for this reason, this ship is equipped with medical suites in amounts that can support campaigns on a system level, that is, it has hundreds of bacta tanks and thousands of medical droids onboard, and medical supplies are included in the consumables count.

Skeleton crew: 17,000
Optimal crew: 55,000
Consumables: 2 years
Cargo capacity: 7 million tons
Passengers: 32,000

Awesome [member="Cathul Thuku"]!

Passing this onto [member="Darth Vitium"] for approval! Thanks!

You have the maximum armament rating, the maximum defense rating, pretty standard speed & maneuverability for a ship of this size with moderate armaments & defenses, and 10 squadrons.

On the other hand you have 150 posts of development.

For approval:
  • Speed And Maneuverability:
Add +2 to one, or +1 to each (as in 18 to 20, or 18/18 to 19/19).
  • This will help balance out the incredible armaments and defenses of the ship.

[*]Hangar:
  • Reduce hangar to 7.
  • As with above, this will assist in keeping this ship balanced to its armaments & defenses.
