DESCRIPTION

Taking inspiration from the designs its spiritual predecessor, the Infantry stormtrooper and clone trooper armors of the past, the Phase III is meant to take that balance between protective, multi-purpose, and inexpensive and blend it seamlessly. Based on the solid foundations of the technological advancements made Galaxy-wide, the Phase III is a product of years of data collected in the many battles the One Sith had waged as well as data collected from the ancient clone wars and galactic civil wars, of mistakes or flaws made in previous armors and corrected to suit the needs of war perfectly.
Like with all armors in the galaxy the Phase III doesn’t make a soldier impervious to damage but it does help. It’s meant to provide the well-trained trooper with both protection and flexibility in combat, whether it's urban assault or storming a fortified position so that they can adapt to the ever-changing situation of a battlefield to the best of their capability.

From the inside out, the wearer of Phase III is first encased in an armorweave bodyglove that serves both as comfortable padding and as a layer of defense in and of itself. This same bodyglove is also insulated and airtight so as to provide the troopers with protection from a variety of environments and even allow for space or vacuum operation for as long as the internal air supply lasts. Next follows the flex-armor vest that is meant to provide additional protection to the torso, as that is where most attacks will invariably hit. In the upper body, the flex-armor cuts off at the shoulders and reaches all the way up to the chin forming a turtleneck that reinforces the armor of the neck as well, whereas in the waist area it extends down to mid-thigh, adding protection to the oft-exposed vessels of the femoral region. Last come the strategically placed duraplast plates, encasing the chest and back, shoulders, upper and lower arms, hands, thighs, calves, and feet. The helmet is also wrought entirely out of duraplast, and is fitted snugly above a neck guard. The Phase III also includes groin guards for all genders, and it should be noted that the chest protection in the variant for breasted individuals does not feature a pronounced a breastplate.

The rest of the armor components all follow on top (such as the utility belt, etc.), and extra ammo compartments, aside from the two on the utility belt, can be located either on the upper arm(s) or on the thigh(s), depending on the wearer’s physique and preferences. The standard-issue combat vibro-knife can be carried in various positions, largely depends on the preference of the soldier though choice is partially limited to the thigh, leg, shoulder, upper arm and utility belt by design.

The pouches and compartments of the Phase III's highly functional utility belt contain a multitude of equipment, including a grappling hook, spare ammunition, ration supplies and a rudimentary medical kit containing enough synthflesh and bacta to keep a wounded soldier alive until a medic can arrive. While neither is part of the official-issue kit, most utility belts also carry multitools and a pack of sanitary wipes.

Sergeants or higher ranked soldiers wearing this armor are marked with a slightly thicker shoulder pauldron that is colored and signifies their status as command personnel for easy identification.
All in all, the Phase III is a well-rounded armor that fares adequately in nearly every combat situation, and while it doesn’t excel in any area, it also doesn’t have any major drawbacks. It's an evolved form of the armors used in the clone wars and galactic civil war, brought to the standards of the modern era.
