SPECIAL FEATURES
 • Molecular Shields protect and strengthen the Overlord.
 • Can hover above the ground as well as walk.
DETAILED SPECIAL FEATURES
 • The molecular shielding on the Overlord not only affords it protection, but allows it to absorb and redirect the attacking energy to increase its own firepower or speed.
 • The Overlord can walk at a relatively sedate pace of 10km/h. However, it can also hover up to 10 metres above the ground and move at up to 60km/h whilst airborne.

Strengths:
 • Siphon. The molecular shields can take an enemy’s attacks and repurpose them into power for the Overlord’s weapons. In practical terms this allows it to move faster and fire its arm weapons faster when under attack.
 • Defence. The Overlord is a very tough nut to crack. In addition to its molecular shields it has regular shields similar to the old droidekas and heavy armour plating as well. Even piercing the shields is no guarantee of bringing one of these down.
 • Versatile. With a selection of weapons the Overlord can mow down infantry and light vehicles with its right arm, combat vehicles with its left and target aircraft or fortifications with its missiles.
 • Hover. Being able to raise itself off the ground means the Overlord can escape firefights or launch surprise attacks or even ‘jump’ over obstacles.
Weaknesses :
 • Overload. Molecular Shields are fantastic – but they have a limit. Too much incoming damage and the shields cannot keep up and shut down to avoid a disastrous overload. The speed of weapons firing also has a limit in the weapons overheating.
 • Blindspot. When hovering the Overlord cannot fire at targets directly beneath it. If an enemy gets below it they can strike at it. This also applies to rear attacks also, where only a repeating blaster waits. This makes support by allies vital.
 • Hole. In order to use the repulsorlifts the shield cannot completely surround the Overlord. Thus, an enemy getting beneath it, as detailed above, will not face any shield stopping them attacking the vulnerable repulsor engines.
 • Shields. As with Droidekas, if pushed into a wall, knocked over or buried, the shields are forced to shut down to prevent a complete burnout.
DESCRIPTION

Created near the end of Maelion and Moira’s tenure as leaders of Archangel, the Overlord was their attempt to create a powerful support droid. Looking back to the famous droidekas of the Clone Wars, they took that and expanded on the design.

What resulted was the Overlord, a large droid which could either walk forward on 4 claws or float on repulsorlifts. The ability to do both gave it great flexibility, even if the droid itself was not especially fast, especially on the ground.
For armament it was decided to give the Overlord a selection of weapons for every occasion. A rotary blaster cannon for mowing down infantry occupied one arm whilst a laser cannon such as those found on tanks or walkers occupied the other. To defend it against air attack or to give more punch against heavy armour it was also armed with a rack of guided missiles.

To add to the defence, the droid has both molecular and deflector shields, giving it very powerful defences. With these activated it is almost invulnerable to infantry weapons and resistant even to tank guns.
This shield is not invincible though. Heavy weapons such as missile launchers, concussion rifles or artillery can penetrate the shields with repeated shots. An enemy able to get beneath it can fire or stab upwards at the hover engines, bringing it crashing down to earth. Finally, it lacks the ability to deal with enemies behind or in crowded, rough conditions such as forests or tunnels.

The Overlord is great at providing covering and assault firepower. However, it must be supported by allied forces to be effective. If left alone it can be surrounded and the weaknesses it possesses more easily exploited. As part of a cog in a machine, as AA intends their droids to work, the Overlord can be very effective.
