One Sith Naval Force Organization

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
The One Sith Navy is at its core a 'Federal' force, responsible for the security of all planets and systems that are part of the One Sith, and for expanding the borders and influence of the Sith.

There are no 'local' fleets in One Sith space, beyond those owned by private corporations. Where a planet might retain an army for local security, any local fleets have been disbanded, scrapped, or sold off. This is first and foremost a method of control, and also designed to ease the logistical burden of operating the largest navy in the galaxy in the largest faction in the galaxy.

Overall command of the One Sith Navy is made up of the FLEETCOM HQ. This is a large administrative organization headed by the Admiralty Council. The council consists of two (2) Grand Admirals and five (6) Fleet Admirals, who are the senior most members of the One Sith Navy, as well as the Executor of Imperial Forces or his/her designated representative.

Grand Admiral Myth Worgemuth- Chief of Naval Operations (MIA at Coruscant)
Grand Admiral Chysa'sk - Acting Chief of Naval Operations

The Fleet Admirals are all the commanders of their respective Sector Commands. They also act as Battleforce Commander for that sector. The current Fleet Admirals of the One Sith Navy are as follows.

Fleet Admiral XXX - Black Sword Command (Absconded with [member="Darth Carnifex"])
Fleet Admiral Gav Lkiras - Shadow Hand Command (KIA at Coruscant)
Fleet Admiral XXX -Steel Blade Command
Fleet Admiral [member="Cyrus Tregessar"] - Iron Lance Command
Fleet Admiral XXX -Dark Saber Command
Fleet Admiral Varhoik - Azure Hammer Command (KIA at Dulvoyinn)

The Sector Commands are the next major organizational level, and while subordinate to FLEETCOM HQ are basically independent organizations. Each Sector Command is designed to be self-sufficient, with its own shipyards, repair facilities, weapon depots, and even as far down as recruitment and training facilities, and weapons and munitions manufacture. All such logistics and support facilities followed standardized rules and regulations published and enforced by FLEETCOM HQ. Nevertheless, each command tends to take on a particular character, usually as an image of the Fleet Admiral in charge.

The presence of the Sith tends to complicate matters, but the Navy operates much more freely from their influence than it once did. Individual Sith are welcome and encouraged to join the Navy (enrollment in the officer program is automatic) and provide their unique skills to the fleet, but otherwise there is little allowance or submission to their authority and control. The only concession is a limited ability of Sith to requisition ships and crew from a Sector Command on an as-needed basis. Such ships still ultimately fall under the authority of FLEETCOM HQ, and are eventually returned to their Sector Command (usually).

Subsequent organization tends to follow the above, and is basically operational in nature. It is worth noting that the One Sith Navy retains a large 'Naval Infantry' corps, with more elite 'Marines' supplementing that force. Naval Infantry are primarily used as security forces onboard ships, and to garrison FLEETCOM controlled worlds, starbases, shipyards, and so on. They are equipped like conventional Stormtroopers or Sith Army personnel, but with a focus on boarding actions and security operations, and most notably wear the black Mk III armor instead of the newer Mk IV.

The One Sith military tends to lack a totally centralized organization, largely thanks to the fact that the power of individual Sith Lords allows them to wield the authority and resources necessary to fund their own armies and fleets. However, the demise of the Dark Lord and reorganization of the One Sith allowed the 'Imperial' component to gain influence and prestige.

What followed was a brief reorganization of both branches, and detailed below is the basic operating units of the One Sith Navy. Not reflected herein are the fleets of individual Sith Lords, nor the separate units wielded by organizations like the Inquisition.

Again, as noted these are the operational units, those deployed and expected to fight together. They are separate from the Administrative Fleets, which are defined by sector.

Battleforce

  • All Squadrons part of a Sector Fleet OR Multiple Battlegroups under a unified command. The largest operational 'fleet,' it can vary wildly in size but is usually no less than 50-80 ships. Typically commanded by a Fleet Admiral.

Battlegroup: Colloquially known as simply as a 'fleet,' this is a large formation of ships designed to conquer worlds and subjugate star systems. Typically commanded by a full Admiral.

  • Several Squadrons

  • Command Element

  • Additional Elements

Task Force: Informal organization comprised of several 'Elements'. Typically commanded by a Commodore or higher rank.

  • Command Element

  • Additional Elements

Squadron: The basic formation in the One Sith Navy. These are formalized and exist both on paper and in operations. Battle Squadrons and Destroyer Squadrons are the most prestigious to command, and Patrol Squadrons the least.

  • Battle Squadron (BatRon): A heavy formation designed to engage and destroy enemy ships, typically commanded by a Vice Admiral

    1+ Star Destroyer

  • 3-4 Heavy Cruisers

  • 4-8 Light Cruisers/Frigates

  • 4-8 Corvettes

[*]
Pursuit Squadron (PursRon): A strike craft focused formation, designed to harass shipping, harry enemy flanks and pursue defeated formations. Typically commanded by a Rear Admiral.

  • 1+ Carrier

  • 0-3 Cruisers

  • 4-6 Frigates

  • 4-6 Corvettes

[*]
Escort Squadron (EcRon): A supporting formation, usually deployed as part of a Battlegroup. Essentially a sized-up Patrol Squadron. Typically commanded by a Commodore or Rear Admiral.

  • 2-4 Cruisers

  • 3-6 Frigates

  • 3-6 Corvettes

[*]
Patrol Squadron (PatRon): A light formation, the most common one in the One Sith Navy, designed as a general purpose unit with presence and counter-harassment operations in mind. Typically commanded by a Commodore or Rear Admiral.

  • 1-2 Cruisers

  • 2-3 Frigates

  • 3-6 Corvettes

[*]
Heavy Attack [Destroyer] Squadron (DesRon): Designed to complement other squadrons and provide heavy fire support where it is otherwise lacking. Also a convenient way to simply bring more Star Destroyers. Typically commanded by a Vice Admiral.

  • Command Element

  • 2+ Star Destoyers

Element
  • No formal organization, any number/type of ships that don't easily fit as a Squadron or are otherwise organized separately for various purposes. For example, a Command Element typically consists of a Star Destroyer, a Shadow-class Corvette, and possibly an escort or two.
  • Elements are often assembled from ships from various squadrons, to accomplish a set task. Otherwise they may be made up of ships not assigned to a squadron, or assigned to a Defense Fleet or other secondary role. Basically it's a catch-all formation used to accomplish some goal that a Squadron or Task Force would be overkill for.

Grand Admiral Myth Worgemuth
  • Biography: An old soldier, Grand Admiral Worgemuth is almost 80 years old, and has served the Sith or some variation of them for over half a century. His reputation is built primarily on his legendary resilience, having fought and survived nearly a thousand battles, even if not all of them were victories. A skilled tactician and superb strategist, he has begun to slow down in his old age and rarely sees a field command now, preferring to keep himself busy with the delicate art of keeping the One Sith Navy functioning. Kept alive and active primarily by rejuv treatments, expensive medical operations, and advanced cybernetics, he moves and acts as a man thirty years younger, but he recognizes that his time has past. His ascended to the high position he has now largely by being a compromise choice following the violent restructuring of the Navy. Right now he mostly wants to retire to his estate on Anaxes, but fears of conflict in the wake of his absence spur his continued service.
  • Tactics: Myth Worgemuth did not get to where he is now by taking unnecessary risks. His fleet movements tend to be purposeful and calculating, but continually present a nigh-impenetrable front. Deliberate advances, careful fighting retreats, and brutally effective use of the massed firepower and durability common to most Star Destroyers are the hallmarks of his book of war.
  • Notes: The Grand Admiral of the One Sith would never be present on the battlefield commanding less than a full battleforce. Nor is he likely to be cowed by even the greatest Sith Lords. He is an aged master of his particular artform and demands to be treated as such.
Grand Admiral Chysa'sk
  • Biography: A female harch, Chysa'sk has served numerous masters in her time as an Admiral, but has always ended up under the thumb of one Sith or another. Her service to the Sith dates back at least a decade, where she could usually be found as the personal admiral of prominent Sith Lords. She quickly established a reputation as an incredibly valuable asset, and ascended the ranks quickly. When the purge of the navy was initiated by Boan Rein and Cyrus Tregessar, she sided with the two iconoclasts. After the restructuring, she remained well regarded by the Sith, and was appointed Vice CNO in acknowledgement of her skill and influence. Despite this, she is generally not considered a good candidate for the next CNO, and prefers the battlefield to the desk anyway.
  • Tactics: Chysa'sk is a legendary tactician, and a master of fleet coordination and movement with few peers. Her ships tend to move across space in complex patterns in a manner decipherable only to her, but the end result almost always ensnares the enemy in an inescapable web. Opponents who realize they are facing the harch have been known to retreat rather than risk complete annihilation.
  • Notes: As with Myth Worgemuth, in the unlikely event Chysa'sk were to end up in command it would be only for a full battleforce. Her relationship with most Sith tend to be better than his, as she has a healthy respect for the force and not quite the age or demeanor to brush off those who wield it.
Admiral Alina Sar'theron
  • Biography: A female falleen, Alina Sartheron is the daughter of Sith, but from a young age never displayed force sensitivity herself. Disgraced and humiliated as a result, she turned to military service, both as a means to do right by her name and prove herself to doubters. She quickly proved to be a brilliant tactician and a natural at flying, and entered naval service as a fighter pilot. Rising through the ranks, she brooked no insult from peers or rivals, butting heads with Sith at times. The turning point in her career came during a confrontation with Sith Knight who demanded she become his servant and mistress. Her refusal prompted an enraged response from the Sith, who attempted to kill her with the force on the spot. To everyone's surprise, she manifested a powerful force bursts, knocking the Sith unconscious and allow her to escape. With her families legacy at her side, Alina Sar'theron's military career took off, and her ambition and skill could not be tempered. She earned the respect of Cyrus Tregessar during the purge, when she was targeted (because of her connections to the Sith) but managed to turn an ambush around on her pursuer. Now, having just turned over the position of Commander, Coruscant Defense Fleet, she has an eye on the next vacant Fleet Admiral billet, with her sight set on ever higher goals.
  • Tactics: Admiral Sar'theron favors swift, rapid advances backed up by devastating firepower. Lengthy battles of maneuver are generally seen as tiresome and frivolous, and if her casualties tend to be significantly higher than some of her peers, that's the price one pays for an unbroken string of victories. Violence and ambition characterize her strategies as well as her demeanor, she will nearly always take a risk if the reward means a sure victory, and so far it has always paid off.
  • Notes: Force-sensitive but with limited training, Sar'theron is arrogant and self-assured, but also a superb commander. She will work with Sith as necessary, but does not tolerate their attempts to control her or her fleet. Dislikes Cyrus Tregessar personally but has a great deal of respect for his skill. The feeling is generally mutual. Thinks Myth is a walking relic who needs to die already, but has a generally favorable opinion of Chysa'sk.

OOC Note:
This post is an effort to add some color to the somewhat colorless One Sith Navy. The NPC's presented within are for ANYONE to use, within reason. Have a dedicated duelist Sith Lord but want to dabble in fleeting? Grab someone from this list and join in. Want to do a solo dev thread and feel like having an NPC to bounce ideas off of? Have at it. Basically something to shake up the trend of having useless/killable 'Admirals' that tend to populate threads. The OS Navy is better than that now, they purged most of the sycophants and the incompetents, these are veterans and experts skilled at their craft and who are adept at interacting with Sith and walking away alive.

Just uh, please don't kill them off needlessly, you know?

Also please if you have a cool idea for an Admiral or have used one before, do a quick write up, PM me, and I'll add them to the list. Same idea if you want to have your PC/NPC take a Sector Fleet.
