Monsters are real. They Live inside Us.. Sometimes They Win [Past Thread]

Kenna had been planning this for weeks, months even. She knew her Master's nighttime schedule like the back of her hand and she had been watching him for the last several months. Playing nice had gotten her privileges in which his other slaves didn't get and such advantages she planned to take full advantage of tonight. If she were going to escape it would do her no good to be locked up, no she had to be smart about all of this. If he caught her trying to sneak out the master would skin her alive or worse. She had bare witnessed to some of these things and Kenna wanted no part of it. She was confident in herself however to be the one whom did actually get away.

Once her had fallen asleep around midnight, give or take an hour, Kenna slipped out of the small closest that she had been sleeping in. It wasn't much but considering the alternative it was much better and plus from here it was a straight shoot down the stairs and out the door. She just needed to be careful not to alert the dogs or trip the security system. She wasn't worried in regards to waking him up as he was a rather heavy sleeper.

It didn't take her long before she had slipped out the window into the welcoming cool night breeze. Throwing the dogs a few treats she ran to the forest behind the home. Kenna believed the security system only was for the doors but she wasn't about to wait and find out. She was for once in her life, free.

Now

The forest was an unknown world to Kenna full of sounds and sights that she had only read in stories. On the first day of freedom every little sound made her jump and spin in circles. She couldn't help but be afraid that the alarm had sounded and that she would be dragged back. The eighteen year old had learned quickly though that in order to survive out here she needed to use her brain. She moved by night gathering food as she went and by day she somewhat slept. Kenna didn't know where she was going nor where the nearest village was. It didn't matter though, she was determined to find it and start a life there. She was a survivor.

Leaning against a tree Kenna sighed happily as she raised her face to the warm sun. It has been three days by her account and no sign of anyone coming for her. She felt it would be alright if only for a little while to let her guard down and enjoy the beauty that surrounded her. If someone was going to be coming for her, they would have come by now.

Vinskk crouched in the bushes, spotting the woman bathing in the sunlight. It had been two days since he had began to track down this rogue slave, and now he finally had her in sight.

She had been careful, all right. But in the last day, the slave had been getting sloppy. A footprint here, traces of shelter there. It had been all too easy at that point to track her down, and here he was now.

The Trandoshan hoisted a special tranquilizer rifle and aimed it at her, ready to fire. He would wait for a little bit, though. He wanted to observe the Human female, like how one observes game before he kills the animal.

Being free was a wonderful feeling, one which the young girl had thought she would never have again. She had almost given up hope that she would ever feel the warm sun on her face again when it wasn't due to picking someone else's crop. Kenna had been no stranger to hard work on the family farm but that had been different. Shaking away all fears Kenna spent a few more minutes looking into the sun before beginning to move again. Kenna was being careless standing out here in broad daylight but she couldn't deny herself the sun another day.

Reaching a bush with red round looking berries on it Kenna began to pick a few to shove into her pocket for later. When food was around, she couldn't just pass it by. Edible things in the forest were very hard to come by and as such she couldn't pass them up even if she knew she needed to get to shelter. Not knowing the first thing about hunting left Kenna starving most of the day. These berries were at least something.

Pausing for a moment Kenna raised her head and looked around as if she heard something. She could find nothing though but still felt as if perhaps she was being watched by something or someone. Taking a deep breath Kenna decided that she rather be safe than sorry and shoved the berries in her hand in her pocket before turning to quickly walk away.

The young girl wanted to break out in a run but she knew that if her gut was right the creature watching her would only give into the chase. The wolves and cats out in these parts of the jungle were much faster than her so the best plan was to be calm about this.
