Maneuverability: 17… its a massive carrier.

Speed Rating: When operating in Normal space the ship moves at a 15 on the scale in relativity to other space travel, its time to take off from the surface or a shipyard is considerably slower ranking around a 17 and its speed in atmosphere is around an 18.

Hyperdrive Class: Class 1 Hyperdrive systems with a class 12 backup drive.

Strengths:

  • Adaptability:

    This ship was founded on its adaptability in allowing different loadouts to fit the situation and even more so the placement of the batteries and guns on the ship itself. This means simply that the ship is, while not a dedicated worship and would not hold up against sustained ship to ship combat, it can survive and escape before things happen that would cause its destruction.

[*]
Shielding and Armor:

  • The Shielding and Armor of the ship was slightly higher quality than that of balanced or dedicated warships in order to compensate for its lack offensive weaponry that would otherwise leave it dead.

Weaknesses:

  • Speed and Atmospheric flight.

    Being the size that it is, the amount of force it takes to move the ship is a massive amount and as such it leaves the ship vulnerable to faster moving ships especially if its engines are removed from play. Furthermore and due to is overall size, atmospheric flight is both discouraged and heavily difficult, as the amount of friction that is caused taxes the shields upon entry into the atmosphere at a rate that would be useful.

[*]
Offensive capabilities.

  • Due to the weakened and low number of offensive guns, meant to only be able to keep the opposing craft at bay with its long ranged weapons and defensive capabilities. This ship is vulnerable against ship to ship combat unless the opposing ship is in poor shape or the Liberator is out of its range.

[*]
Size

  • Size is normally a good thing right, the bigger the better and the more power you can put on something. Well the Size of this ship is its weakness in that it is quite literally the broad side of a barn. Granted while not as easy to hit as a ship like the Imperious class star destroyer, the Liberator still provides a pretty sizable target for the guns that it has in which to defend itself.

[*]
Anti Matter Reactor

  • While the reactor itself is not a danger its very nature makes it much more susceptible to internal damage and rupturing if struck right or overloaded. This could cause a rather substantial amount of destruction should the ship be struck in this point. As such there is extra external armoring around the core but that does nothing against attacks from the inside or choice-fully overloading the reactor to cause damage to those nearby the ship.

Description:

Upon the realization of the Vitae needing a dedicated fleet to call their own, Solan Charr and other members of the galaxy including Taeli Raaf, Quenladose, and Wan Min all contributed in the creation of the Vitae’s first command carrier. The Carrier was designed originally as a cruiser analog droid carrier but has since fallen into the former of all aforementioned participants and so its design began.

First the testing of the Maser weaponry in comparison to Mass Driver and Turbolaser counterparts with Wan Min had discovered as though that while the Masers packed a slightly stronger punch than their turbo laser counterparts, they lacked in the distance in which turbolasers could go in order to compensate for accuracy as well. This in turn meant that they suffer at a ¾ distance travelled while dealing a stronger kinetic punch than turbolasers by ¼ a turbolaser’s power.

The 8 offensive guns, 4 being heavy long range ion cannons and 4 being long range megamasers, were split up into groups that evenly split the sub groups. As such and on each side of the ship the guns would be set up in the following pattern and steppled to allow full frontal and side fire. First a long range megamaser, then behind it a heavy long range ion cannon, then behind that a long range megamaser, and lastly a heavy long range ion cannon. This set up was in order to maximize the carriers low output on firepower.

In addition to the suspected power behind the weaponry, several defensive batteries had been tested in regards to response time towards power as well as ease of reloading. Flak cannons were found to hold the most power behind their punch and as such were outfitted with heavy variants and decided on to be placed in three locations. Ten of the batteries would line each side of the ship while five were placed strategically up from the nose of the ship down the middle of it, their breaks from each other at about 200 meters each until reaching the ship’s halfway point.

Laser Defense turrets were found to be a middle ground of sorts, able to act as anti fighter and light anti ship defenses. As such these were fitted into batteries that ranged fifty. Then these were split up and lined along the ship in the following patterns. First 10 of the laser batteries would be placed on the underbelly of the ship in order to protect it from fighters or bombers that would look to approach the ship. Then, 15 batteries were line on the middle area between the bottom and top shelling of the craft on each side, as to deter boarding parties or fighters from trying to fly adjacent to the ship itself. Then the remaining 10 batteries would be lined in such a way that for every 1 flak batteries down the center of the ship two laser cannon batteries would be placed with them, one placed in front and one behind in order to provide extra security.

Much like the Laser Defense Turrets, the point defense batteries were set up in the following way. 2 point defense batteries would be placed adjacent to each of the center row of flak cannons, this is done with one point defense on either side of it and as such completing a + shaped design down the middle of the ship in order to maximize the defensive capabilities of the guns. Keep in mind that between each of the batteries would be 50 meters, thus allowing for ease of aim and avoidance of friendly fire. Furthermore to avoid such problems further the guns would be steepled with the center flak cannon placed slightly higher than the other guns as well as giving them a full three hundred and sixty area of turning though only 180 degrees is ever needed for the weapons. The other 40 point defense cannons are split and placed in two groups, 30 point defense further split into groups of 15 that lined the two top sides of the ship with the last 10 batteries split and lining the bottom of the ship with 5 point defense batteries on each side of the ship’s underbelly.

What was meant to be unique is a design that was special to the Providence class carrier and destroyer of the old clone wars. In order to hold more fighters and save the space wasted by the hidden hangers of the Venator class it incorporated side hangers that reached through the ship rather than would be contained in one area. This had both its benefits and disadvantages though Solan chose them for their usefulness. Firstly, with the hanger now spanning the entire width of the ship it allowed for many more fighters to be stored and to further allow this number its due justice he had two instead of one of these types of hangers put in and were separated by 300 meters. This allowed for him to hold a fighter force rivalling that of the Justicar and Resolute ships, the latter of the two he was able to study deeply through his holdings of it while in the Shadow Empire and in the short transition of its ownership to the Vitae before decommissioning the ship as it was to be replaced by this model.

Either way, Quenladose and Solan were able to also find the weaknesses in the design of these hangers though, while they allowed for more ships to be stored they also were much easier to land in thus the use of high energy ray shields were implemented on all doors into the hangers themselves that could be tripped within ten seconds of a boarding and as such would allow for all boarding forces to be trapped within the hangers themselves until flushed out or jettisoned into space.

They also discussed the prospect of keeping walkers, prefab bases, and other naval to land conquest vehicles. This eventually ended with a need for a fluid hanger composition. This means that at any time there would be no actual set load out but rather a recommended one which allowed for walkers and other such weapons of war to replace fighters and bombers which would be far more useful for invasions of planets while the recommended loadout would be more of a defensive loadout.

Then came in regards to that Consumables, crew, passengers, and cargo capacity. This was where the research in the resolute class was extremely useful after using it for so long. Thanks to it as a reference the crew and passenger count were easy to determine because of the ship's size and eventually boiled down to a minimal crew of 4000 with an optimal crew of 8000 in order to allow for more than enough gunners and other ship crew to keep the ship going in a heavy engagement. Further the consumables and cargo were also easier to figure as the Liberator could hold 6000 tons of cargo with 5 years of consumables in the case of need.

The ships’ propulsion was another issue that was to be solved and it would with a technology that holds a signature place in the company that was Krayt Industries. The anti-matter power core would help feed along with the weapon and other systems the propulsion which was made up of four Creveld-4 radial ion drive engines that would allow for the ship a measurable amount of maneuverability and speed that other ships might otherwise not have. Though that speed itself was low and not something impressive in the least.

Development Thread:
Intent: Because the Vitae needs a dedicated carrier to replace the otherwise now unobtainable resolute supercarrier that had before served a big part in defense of the shadow empire before the Vitae.

Who Can Use This: Only those specified by the heads of the Vitae Alliance.

Very nice sub, lovely image!

First up could you point the link at the artist page please to make the source easier to find?

Main weaponry and hangar look fine, you seem to be a bit high on defensive batteries though, could you drop 50 please?

I'll have to check the dev threads in the morning I'm afraid! :)

The following would be acceptable:

[background=transparent]2 Long Range Ion Cannons.[/size][/background]
[background=transparent]25 Heavy Flak Defensive Batteries[/size][/background]
[background=transparent]25 Laser Defensive Batteries[/size][/background]
[background=transparent]50 Point Defense Defensive Batteries.[/size][/background]

I'm a little confused by the development threads, but I might be missing something! :) The first thread seems to have nothing to do with vessels, except an off-hand remark in the last post. The second seems unrelated to this project, and the third is very brief?

The first is where i retrieve the Shadow Empire ships in which the stats of this ship are based off of. The main ship of importance was the fact of the wasp holding the ion cannons that are being used here and the supercarrier i lifted. its also used as a logical way to make sure the two fringe ships are never used again by a party that is not fringe by using them in the creation of this ship.

The thread with Wan min would have tested out the different types of weaponry on the ship, for some reason though (And probably due to the fact of her job) she kinda disappeared and ive been trying to get incontact with her so that we can finish it...

Lastly, same thing above, only its Syn, and Syn is just being slow as Syn can be... Whipping him into doing the thread so that it can discuss the hanger, engines, and other features mentioned in the description about what the meeting will be handling. Also, Edits made on Armament.

Apologies, I thought I had replied to this. If those threads could have a few more solid posts (~150 words) tidying up some more development of the ship, that would be brilliant.

Painfully slow... One person went on AFK and the other is Syn... Hmm i have another thread in which i aquired designs and weaponsystems in another thread. I was going to use it for another ship but id rather get atleast one done rather than have it stalled like this any longer. I can link it for you to look over
