Strengths:
+Excellent standoff capabilities thanks to the effective range of its main gun.
+High resistance to electronic attack, cyber warfare, and EMP/ion energy attacks.

Weaknesses:
-Slow tracking by the Sabertooth’s large main gun make it too unwieldy for anti-vehicle combat at close range, and possess no other weapons to effectively engage most armored fighting vehicles.
-The Sabertooth is poor at turning, especially problematic in tight quarters or areas filled with tall obstructions.
-Weak against airpower, so it is vital that the Sabertooth is properly covered by AA or friendly airpower in situations of contested airspace.
-Armor weak on top and back.

Description:

The KV-02 Sabertooth is a self-propelled long range artillery platform. It was developed by KSA primarily to cater to the export market where there was a lack of mobile repulsor artillery systems available equipped with indirect firing capabilities. (The Kiribian military itself has strong preference for tactical aircraft/CAS over long range artillery.)

Powerplant/Propulsion

The Sabertooth runs off of a high output cryogenic fuel cell. For locomotion, it uses repulsorlifts that ensure smooth movement over terrain, and helps with stabilisation during firing, allowing the vehicle to reset much faster than its wheeled counterparts. The use of repulsors also means less maintenance as there are no moving parts. Additionally, it uses internal compensators to increase crew comfort and stabilisation of the main gun, while also providing some protection against gravity and anti-gravity weapons. For more accurate sustained fire, the Sabertooth can lock itself down into a stationary position with the use of a density projector.

Vetronics/Software

The Sabertooth has a standard sensor suite with an effective range of 250km, able to track both surface and aerial objects. It is also equipped with a ground penetrating radar to help scan the ground for buried mines and other explosives during travel. It has a full range comm suite that allows it to communicate via subspace, radio, laser/broadband, and hyperwave frequencies. With Hydra, The Sabertooth has enhanced uplink/downlink capabilities for real time data sharing, sensor fusion, and terminal guidance.

Each internal station is equipped with a Merlin holographic display that allows the crew to operate all the Sabertooth’s systems within the safety of the vehicle.

An integrated droid brain, serving as the equivalent of an astromech, helps manage fire control systems, handles auto-loading of munitions, and takes care of other support functions like fire suppression systems. In emergency scenarios, the droid brain can run the Sabertooth autonomously, but this method of control is not recommended for regular operational use.

Both the droid brain and the Sabertooth’s control system are protected by an installation of Mithril Security Software, and socketguards over physical ports.

Two DRK-1 probe droids are included with each Sabertooth that allows the crews to conduct their own aerial reconnaissance and can be used for terminal guidance.

Armaments

The whole chassis is built around a single massive repulsor-based massed driver canon which is an upscaled version of the one used by the KV-01 Bengal Main Battle Tank. It uses a powerful repulsor array to create a focused beam of antigravity to propel projectiles. Even after exiting the barrel, the beam continues to push against the projectile, upwards of 20km, to help maintain accuracy and velocity over range. The Sabertooth has a base range of 100km with basic projectiles like slugs, but this range can be extended by firing missiles or advanced guided projectiles with base bleed features, or motors like a Hornet Anti-Vehicle Munition. The canon is capable of both direct and indirect fire.

For defense against infantry units, it possesses a pair of Famos Mk IIs in vehicle configuration. The platform fires a combination of continuous neutral particle beams and 20mm projectiles from integrated belt fed mass driver launchers.

Armor/Countermeasures

The frame is built from neutronium impregnated ferro-carbon for optimum impact resistance by means of high energy dispersal. Internal sections are compartmentalised help reduce the spread of fires. Internal deionizers and energy sinks are incorporated into the interior to protect the power cell and electronic components from surges produced by electromagnetic pulses and ion energy. Anti-spall coating lines the interior to protect the crew from deadly fast moving particles produced during impact.

The hull is comprised of Ajax laminate spaced armor, offering adequate protection against most forms of small arms fire, and can withstand several hits from heavy weapons like man portable launchers or vehicle weapons like tank cannons or starfighter lasers. However, armor is weakest on the top and rear of the vehicle, making these sections more vulnerable to attack.
A Casper Active Protection System it mounted on the turret, meant to serve as the first line of defense against incoming projectiles.

Mounted on the front of the Sabertooth is a gravitational field disruptor. It’s meant to be used like a mine plow, safely neutralizing surface and buried explosives by causing them to implode upon themselves under their own artificially increased weight.

Dispensers located on the sides of the turret can launch canisters filled with nagnol gas that baffles sensors and obscures vision.
