Lean build with broad shoulders, Coming up to 6'3 and 206lbs he is very tall but isn't a large man and is very slim helping him with his trade. Scar running down his left eye with scraggy hair.

Born on the planet of Tatooine he was sold into slavery. John moved from master to master getting forced to do hard physical labor everywhere he went, he managed to stay fed by trading stories for food through the fences of the complex's he worked at with the local children. He had seen many planets around the galaxy during his childhood and teen years such as Felucia, Naboo, Nar Shaada, and Serenno. Having seen so many different cultures he also got to learn from them due to him being traded off. He served at first for the Hutt's on Tatooine serving as their garbage boy to the Rancor they held, but after a few years when he couldn't break me they sold me to another Hutt who held a bar on Nar Shaada where he learned Twi'leki from the local dancers as he served as the bouncer for a few years. After this Hutt couldn't managed to sell him off to a Old Wookie who taught him how to understand his language of Shryiiwook and helped the Wookie out until he died. After this the Wookie gave him his ship and freedom when he died so John traveled home in his newly acquired XS Freighter, the Wookie taught him how to fly it before he died due to him loving the feeling of going into space. Returning home he found out his mother died after she was sold to the Hutt's and was thrown in the Sarlac pit. One day when working with his fourth master on Felucia they were attacked and the master killed the beast with his blaster but because John hadn't seen it he whipped him causing him to go blind in his left eye making it turn grey.

He had no where else to go, no where else he could live or do. He decided to go to the Bar there in Anchorhead and see if he could get some work. He found someone who needed some crates delivered to Nar Shaada so he took the offer but, after the man showed him what was in the crates he was less excited for the job, illegal spices and weapons for the cartel. The man paying for the trip gave him the use of a old HK unit named "Felix" that needed to be brought to Nar Shaada as well so John and he began his trip to Nar Shaada. Mid-flight he was stopped by a blockade but managed to run through it with some tricky tactics by making his whole ship go dark with his only way of survival by using a oxygen mask until he slipped by and jumped out. After he reached Nar Shaada he went to the Hutt he was suppose to deliver to and delivered the goods, but when he asked for payment he was greeted by a group of bodyguards. Due to his time as a slave he had been a robot mechanic and had rewired Felix and changed his programming to serve him, 4 shots later and Shepherd stepped over the bodies of the fallen bodyguards and pointed his blaster pistol at the head of the Hutt, who gave him his money, starting his smuggling career.
