Born on Tatooine like the majority of Jawas, Jik'Tal didn't really amount to much. He wasn't particularly good with repairing broken droids or even making good sales pitches in market season. One thing was peculiar about him, though. He was quite taller than the rest of his Jawa brethren. This was regarded as humorous by his clan and brought shame to Jik'Tal.
He was even kidnapped by Tusken Raiders a few times, after blatantly storming their fortresses like a one-jawa-army. He was good at one thing, though, and that was making the other jawas laugh at his misfortunes.
Nevertheless, a break finally came when Jik'Tal encountered a Jedi while trying to sell an R2 unit in Mos Eisley. The Jedi sensed Jik'Tal's force sensitivity and whisked the Jawa away, to be trained in the ways of the Jedi.
