Description: For several years now the Jedi Order has made use of the fast and hard hitting J-1 Interceptors. However, while the light interceptors are ideal for some of the duties of a Jedi Knight, the ongoing war with the One Sith has forced the Jedi more and more into aerial combat roles. With the loss of the StealthXs, a heavy hitting starfighter was needed to accommodate Jedi getting involved in naval skirmishes and battles. From this necessity the Jedi-Class Heavy Starfighter was born.

The Jedi-Class Heavy Starfighter has many of the bells and whistles of a standard starfighter. However, the vessel also comes standard with a large number of armaments. Four turbolasers, 2 Ion Cannons, 2 Torpedo launchers, and 1 Jedi Shadow Bomb, make the Jedi-Class a heavy hitting opponent. In addition to this, the vessel is duel shielded with both ray and particle shields, protecting the Jedi in a way the former J-1 never could.

While these armaments come at a cost in speed, the vessel still handles well enough to be a formidable opponent against enemy combatants. While the J-1 Interceptors relied on their speed and agility to avoid direct hits and outmaneuver opponents, the Jedi-Class Heavy Starfighters relies on the exceptional piloting skills of their Jedi Pilots to adjust to the slower speeds and provides a punch that the J-1 was simply lacking. While the missing speed has been reported by its Jedi pilots as a drawback, the handling is akin to the starfighters that were once in common use among the Jedi of the Galactic Republic (e.g., SteathX). Without the speed of the J-1, pilots can not rely solely on the speed of the vessel to protect them in combat. In response to this, the vessel has been manufactured with shielding that provides the optimum sort of defense for a fighter meant to be used in combat. Finally, the unique inclusion of a Jedi Shadow Bomb allows a force sensitive individual to hit hard on an important target (assuming it isn't against another force user).

Development Thread: awaiting recommended length from Judge.
Intent: To provide the Jedi of the Galactic Republic a heavy hitting, more defended starfighter than the current J-1 Interceptor.
Who Can Use This: Only Jedi of the Galactic Republic.

Hello there, welcome to the starship factory! :)

First up, turbolasers are the massive weapons mounted on capital ships not starfighters. They use laser cannons, could you change this please?

This is really verging on gunship territory, so I'd expect speed and manoeuvrability to be 3-3 not 2-3 please.

It's a solid sub, but I'd say if its going to be the mainstay of the Jedi, perhaps the description could do with expanding on a little. How do they fly? How have Jedi found them in atmo compared to J-1? Just a suggestion to improve the sub!

Thanks!

I've changed the "turbolaser" to "laser canon", the speed rating to a "3:3" instead of the original "2:3", and I have beefed up the description a little bit to talk about the handling of the vessel. Mostly making note of the fact that it is slower than the J-1 but that it packs a bigger punch.
