DESCRIPTION
For years now, Hegemonic Automaton has lorded silently over its competitors, uncontested as the producer of the galaxy’s most effective droids. There’s really no secret to what brought Hegemonic Automaton to the top: advanced programming, advanced droid brains. The J2 Droid Brain is the most advanced model of droid brain implemented in droids to date. The paranoid at Hegemonic Automaton had always assumed some rising star would come out of nowhere and steal the title, but that day never came. Instead, the de-throning of the J2 comes at the hands of Hegemonic Automaton.
And this time, it’s unlikely anyone will have it beat.
The brain is essentially an organic computer and processes information faster than anything artificial. The modern science of this post-Gulag age allows us to understand the organic brain and its functions on a structural level. Julianos-Series droid brains mimic these structures and (coupled with advanced equipment) is the reason for them being far more capable of generating more intelligent, effective droids than other models.
Most J2 Droid Brains began to use synthetic gabonna crystal as demand for Hegemonic Automaton droids began to rise. What distinguishes the J3 is that the gabonna utilized by it doesn’t just replicate natural gabonna, but improves upon it. The painstaking process of modifying a crystalline matrix takes a great amount of time, but its usefulness in droid brains more than makes up for it. A gabonna crystal free of the minor flaws present in its predecessors cannot be rivaled in terms of processing power.
A deposit of Xylen was found on a desert world by prospectors some odd years ago, allowing for its reintroduction into the market. The material featured heavily in J1 Droid Brains, but upon brainstorming ideas to make the J3 as masterwork as possible, someone suggested “why not both?” Xylen now features heavily in the J3 Droid Brain, being the primary material for its microsynapse system. The process of creating both the microsynapse system and the specific synthetic gabonna crystals needed for the J3 also gives it a comparatively astronomical construction time. J3s will likely only be seen in unique or limited production models.
Since this is now their most advanced model, it would be ludicrous to think Hegemonic Automaton wouldn’t take similar steps to prevent tampering or knock-off work. The J3 comes equipped with a special self-destruct system. Inside the droid brain is a moderate amount of highly corrosive acid. Unless the circumvented (a process only known to specialized Hegemonic Automaton technicians and a royal pain even then), the acid is released, almost instantly dissolving the system of microsynapse, the memory chip, and the other components of the droid brain. This acid has also been tested to ensure that it damages the gabonna component beyond all repair as well.
The presence of the self-destruct system is not common knowledge and cannot be triggered remotely. An individual must physically attempt to crack the outer case or otherwise illicitly gain access to the droid brain’s internal systems in order for it to activate it. Further, the self-destruct system does not activate if the brain is removed from the droid, enabling low-tier technicians to make replacements if needed. Removed brains automatically deactivate and subsequently require the assistance of a licensed Hegemonic Automaton technician to reactivate.
