SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Burrowing Claws - At the forefront of the vehicle are a series of burrowing claws much like those seen on the Heavy Crawler Battledroid. These claws coupled with the heavy mining laser aid the vehicle move underground alongside additional vehicles or supported by the crawler battledroids.

Strengths:
  • Burrowing Claws - Much like the Crawler Battledroid that is often deployed alongside these vehicles, the AT-BT has a set of burrowing claws at the forefront of the vehicle. These claws ensure that the vehicle is capable of burrowing underground to deploy its compliment of infantry behind enemy lines.

  • Segmented Structure - The AT-BT is designed with a segmented structure, though unlike the crawler droids, this structure is purely there to permit the AT-BT the easy of movement when it is burrowing. With each segment flexible and capable of moving either in unison with or in opposition of other sections as needed.

  • Mass Driver Cannons - The greatest strength of the AT-BT is its twin mass driver cannons. These devastating weapons hurl projectiles as subsonic speeds, shredding infantry, tearing through vehicles and hindering defensive fortifications.

Weaknesses:
  • Segmented Structure - While designed as a means to ensure that the AT-BT could more easily maneuver while burrowing, this design also introduces a weakness to the vehicle. If carefully targeted, the segments of the vehicle can be easily destroyed, which would otherwise incapacitate the vehicle itself. Thus the need for these vehicles to travel with Crawler Droids to protect its vulnerable sides.

  • Mass Driver Cannons - Pure and simple, the AT-BT has a limited capacity for ammunition for its Mass Driver Cannons. Though this can be changed or otherwise altered depending on the internal configuration and how many passengers the vehicle is holding. For the most part the driver cannons are capable of firing a dozen times each before running out of munitions ( doubled or triple that if there are little to no passengers).

  • Double Front - Much of the walker's defensive armoring and weaponry is focused forward. This means that the middle and rear sections (those holding the bulk of the passengers) are left largely exposed or otherwise vulnerable to enemy fire.

DESCRIPTION

The ground beneath you begins to shake and tremble as cracks form. In front of you it slowly lifts, then an explosion of dirt and debris sends you flying. As you slowly recover, your eyes hazy and full of dust, you can barely make out the monstrosity before you. Its form reels up, writhing in a fashion not meant for any kind of vehicle you've ever seen. It slams down and the ground shakes again, another explosion, this time coming from the tanks in the vehicle depot. As you stand, you see them, the droids marching from this terrifying vehicle, this monster, and then nothing; you are felled, lain low in the dirt.

Thus is the AT-BT known among those that have come upon the aftermath of the battle. This vehicle (if it can be called that), burrows beneath the enemy, only to erupt from within their own ranks, or behind their lines. Its heavy weapons unleash a volley of hell before its own soldiers are deployed, marching from its confines and laying waste to those around them. This is the true strength and purpose of the All Terrain Burrowing Transport; to strike at the enemy from where they least suspect.

Often as a means to protect these vulnerable vehicles (as much of their armor and shielding is focused forward), they are accompanied by two or more of the Crawler Heavy Battledroids that burst from the ground along side the AT-BT. Though while this monstrosity excels at its purpose, there are still ways to defeat the beast. Its greatest weakness lay in its own construction, its segmented form which makes burrowing easier, also leaves it vulnerable.

With a few well placed hits (and the application of the proper amount of explosives), the vehicle can be torn into and left immobile or otherwise destroyed. Even those that have come up against them before can plan for their deployment by laying subterrainian mines, or seismic explosives to deal with these beasts while they burrow beneath the ground.
