Description:

The Heat Grenade is a standard combat grenade designed to melt whatever it is in contact with. The appearance of the grenade is fairly simple and unassuming, its outer casing made from ordinary durasteel coated with a sticky substance to increase adhesion on target surfaces. Inside the grenade, separate chambers house baradium and ytterbium. When the grenade is activated, the partition between the two substances is removed, allowing them to mix and produce a superheated thermal reaction that will melt nearly anything within its detonation radius. Compared to most other grenades, the Heat Grenade is fairly silent, though not entirely noiseless. Once activated, the Heat Grenade will release a wave of superheated energy that melts nearly any material it comes into contact with. While one could technically stand next to the grenade while it’s activated and remain unharmed by its thermal effects, one should take care to ensure that anything they’re standing on or otherwise in contact with is not within the grenade’s detonation radius. While activated, a faint aura of heat can be felt directly around the grenade—just be careful not to touch it.

Most metallic substances such as durasteel, armorweave, fleximetal, etc. will be instantly melted by the Heat Grenade. Reinforced materials such as phrik and beskar may not melt, but will be softened by the effects of the grenade. Substances with very high melting points, such as duranium and frasium, have decent resistance against the grenade and will not see much in the way of harm. Materials such as permacrete will be melted through in seconds. The Heat Grenade detonates 10 seconds after activation and lasts for a total of ~1 minute before running out of energy.
