Heart to Heart

"You know you're not allowed to use the droids without asking permission of myself or Tadel first, Andrik." Jamie watched him try to protest and raised a finger, eyebrows mimicking the same motion and shooting to the sky, giving him the look. "You know why. Don't go pretending like you were left unaware."

She sighed and combed fingers through her hair, staring at the mess of a melted droid and scattered parts. "It's dangerous to fool around with things you don't fully understand yet. You could have been seriously hurt, do you want to spend a week in the tank regenerating?"

Her eyes peered down at Andrik thoughtfully, then shifted to the melted hulk in the center of the room, hands on her hips."You're going to clean this up right now, and your room, like you were supposed to be doing in the first place before your Uncle Porkins gets here for dinner."

At this point, it wouldn't be surprising to hear some smart retort, or for him to try and make a deal of one kind or another. Sometimes, it seemed like her son wasn't happy unless he was a hair shy from danger, and anytime rules were set, he didn't see them as a limit, but rather like a challenge.

Not much unlike how she was as a child, only five times worse.

Instead of an argument though, Jamie watched his shoulders slump, her son shuffling around the room as she started her exit, "You're getting off easy this time." and headed for the kitchen to ask the Nanny droid to put a fifteen-minute hold on dinner, long enough for Andrik to finish cleaning and her to do a last minute run around.

Her apartment was built of stone and some cheap building material, likewise the walls and floors were equally dull. The occupied space was sparsely decorated, unsettled. Not like someone trying to build a life, but someone who was ready to put up and move at any given moment. Jamie hadn't been able to settle since Corellia was broken in half and there were a number of factors for the 'why'; money being the biggest reason.

Still, the on-base home's weren't terrible, to her it was as good a home as any.

It was all of five minutes later before a knock at the door came, and Jamie, who was still fluffing pillows and straightening table linens called out, "Come on in!"

"Well, howdy stranger! So glad you could make it tonight!"

Without warning, Jamie rose from her task and launched herself into him, giving Lugus a big bear hug. She didn't know the details of what had taken her previous XO away from their squadron, but there were whispers. "Hope you're hungry." she commented, offering him a seat and going to fetch her son.

Lugus walked the hallway to Jamie’s apartment. He had walked it so many times he didn’t even bother to look at the numbers anymore. He always took her invite when she was willing to give it. Plus he could never pass up the time he could spend with his adopted nephew. The little tinkerer made him proud despite how his mother worried for her precious baby boy. NAGS fit her as a callsign in more ways than one. He knew she was more than proud of him as well despite the nagging she gave the boy.

He dressed casually his hair short and his face still thin. His gut however still poked out despite being thinner due to the recent turn of events. He still hadn’t told any on the Angels that he put in for his discharge papers. He was simply struggling too much with current events. He need a change of pace.

Lugus knocked on the door. In his hands, he held dessert. Andrik’s favorite. A smile overtaking his face as he entered and was greeted almost instantly by his friend’s embrace.

“Anytime for you,” Lugus wrapped his arm around Jamie. “And I’m always hungry.”

Lugus laughed as he looked around for Andrik then noticed she went to get him.
