SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Helmet: The helmet is one of the most vital aspects of the Gungnir system. It is made of Songsteel with a Transparisteel visor and contains key features like a heads-up display that links to the brain and other body features. The HUD can identify equipment and display information about it when it is picked up by the wearer. Another feature is the direct neural interface system which connects to SIS acuity implants. When the acuity implants link to the helmet's on board sensors it creates the neural link needed to move the Gungnir suit. The helmet also contains other equipment to protect and aid the user in hostile conditions. This includes filters to remove toxins from the atmosphere, a supply to provide air to the wearer during extravehicular activity (EVA), thermal and motion sensors, communications, solar-powered lighting, and imaging and video gear.
  • Songsteel Outer Shell: The outer shell of the Gungnir Armor is comprised of Songsteel plating, covering the chest, arms, hip, legs, calves, feet and hands. The material is very resilient, able to withstand significant punishment and is nearly impervious to small arms fire while offering maximum protection against lightsabers. While enough shots from armor piercing rounds will breach the outer shell, the suit can take a few glancing blows from them without compromising the armor. The outer shell of the all Gungnir suits is covered with a refractive coating to help disperse the heat experienced from blaster weaponry. However, a handful of point blank hits from any blaster weapon will compromise the armor plating.
  • Songsteel Alloy Microcomposite Bodysuit: Between the external armor and the internal padding is a thick black armored bodysuit. This suit has a number of functions, small but vital to the safety and survival of the wearer. The bodysuit is made of an alloy of Songsteel augmented armorweave, resulting in a very strong yet very flexible material. It also serves as another layer of protection against ballistic attacks and is coated with a heat resistant material to disperse heat from blaster weapons.
  • Hydrostatic Gel: Underneath the armored bodysuit is a gel-filled layer, regulating the temperature of the suit and can reactively change its density to conform to the wearer's shape - the temperature inside the suit is controlled by the moisture absorbing cloth suit underneath the hydrostatic layer. The hydrostatic gel layer can also be pressurized to various levels to potentially save the wearer's life should the wearer be subjected to vacuum or a high velocity impact; however, over pressurizing this layer can cause fatal blood clotting.
  • Magnetic Access and Movement System: Strategically located on the legs, waist, and back of the suit, very small yet powerful magnetic strips are used to hold any equipment with a magnetic property. The suit also contains a magnet system on the boots of the Gungnir suit that allow its wearer to stay attached to a metal surface in zero gravity environments and can be toggled on or off by the wearer.
  • Personal Energy Shield: Located offset to the left of the small of the back is a personal energy shielding generator encased in the same Songsteel material used in the Gungnir armor system. This shielding conforms to the shape of the wearer and offers superior protection against ballistic fire, but is generally less resistant to blaster fire. The shield does not protect against lightsabers, however, with short timed contact shorting out the power. The shield begins recharging after 30 seconds of no hostile physical contact.
  • Pressure Seal: A vital component to the Gungnir system, it keeps the system airtight underwater or in vacuum. The seal is very strong and will only break under extreme pressure, such as in a high velocity impact or when the hydrostatic gel has been over pressurized. It also protects the wearer from CBRN elements.
  • Automatic Biofoam Injection System: Biofoam is a medical gel that is used to fill and seal a wound automatically, as well as prevent any infection that could occur as a result of the wound. Applying the gel to a wound is extremely painful and is only a temporary solution; medical attention must be sought soon after to ensure survivability.
  • Photo-Optic Replicator: The Photo-Optic Replicator is an active camouflage system which can make the wearer near invisible for brief periods of time. As a drawback, the more the wearer moves, the more visible they become. A computer is used to generate the patters and effects needed to become near invisible, and quick movement creates more work than the computer can handle. In addition, the user's audio system experiences interference while the Photo-Optic Replicator is engaged.
  • Power Supply Control Unit: The Power Supply Control unit manages the armor platform's power and is capable of holding weeks worth of power. It also makes use of a small solar converter to harvest power from solar energy, though it takes a quite a large amount of time to recharge the power cell. In order to maximize effectiveness of the solar converter, the armor platform must be completely offline, and even then, it takes at least a full day of charging to charge to a functioning level. The solar converter's chief purposes are to offer remote charging solutions and minimize battery drain.
Strengths:

(+) The GPA2-MKI platform offers high resistance against blaster fire, with a personal shield and refractive coating on the armor itself to dispel the heat from the blasts.
(+) Primarily due to the personal shield, slugthrowers are near useless against the Gungnir armor platform. Once the shield is disabled, it'll take a larger caliber round from a rifle to do any meaningful damage. Smaller rounds will see little effect.
(+) The GPA2-MKI platform is near impervious to lightsaber strikes, much in thanks to it's songsteel composition and quality craftsmanship. The personal shielding device adds an extra layer of protection, though it's resistance against lightsabers is futile.
(+) Largely in thanks to it's self-regulating system and features, the wearer is protected from a number of extreme elements including heat and cold, and is protected in vacuum for a limited duration. The wearer is also protected from chemical and other airborne toxins, with the suit having it's own ventilation system and oxygen supply.
(+) Though boasting a large frame, the wearer's stealth capabilities are great, with the armor platform featuring an active camouflage system that effectively renders the wearer near invisible.
(+) The armor platform has a quick detach feature to quickly abandon the armor plates and portions of the armorweave in the event of an emergency.

Weaknesses:

(-) Even though Songsteel is a lighter material, the Gungnir armor platform weighs much more than typical armor sets due to it's abundance of features.
(-) Though the personal energy shield augments the armor's defensive capabilities by providing a replenishable first line of defense, it is easily disabled with an EMP strike. Though the armor underneath is highly resistant to blaster fire, the energy shield is not, and can be completely disabled after several shots. Lightsaber strikes will also short the power. Only after a short period of time where the armor is not subject to hostility will the shield recharge.
(-) Despite the implants and power from the armor itself, it's larger frame limits personal mobility to an extent and prevents the wearer from more graceful forms of melee combat.
(-) Though the HUD can assist, the wearer's peripheral vision is limited.
(-) The suit's power operates at quarter power when directly subject to an electromagnetic pulse, greatly slowing the wearer. Unlike the personal energy shield, the armor's power will slowly recharge, even when subject to hostility. It can be fully restored after waiting 12-18 hours depending on the environment, or via a complete system reboot, though the risk of not having enough power to reactivate is too great a risk for this to be a practical option.
(-) The Photo-Optic Replicator cannot be used while moving at more than a half-paced walk without making the user more visible. The armor's audio system also experiences interference while the active camouflage system is active.
(-) The armor has no special features to defend against most Force abilities beyond what it already has for defense against other means of offense.
(-) Getting the armor on is a process in itself and can take an upwards of an half hour to fully don. In a pinch, this armor isn't going to be available if it's not already on.

DESCRIPTION

The Gungnir Powered Assault Armor Mark I variant is an extremely limited run of a custom armor for Kellyn Muir, designed by a select group of artists and engineers from Rothana Heavy Engineering's design department. Due to the unorthodox nature of the request and it being outside the scope of their normal operations, they accepted the task chiefly to showcase the company's talent to the known galaxy. The cost of the armor was not made public, nor was the price of the sale to Kellyn disclosed, but speculation has the number in the high seven figures.

The testing phase in particular was the most strenuous, with an excess of materials and time being used to test the limits and features of the armor platform. After months of meticulous design, testing, testing, and fitting for the prototype for the final design was completed. It did not feature the finesse of the completed models, nor did it boast all of it's features, but functionally it was sound. Kellyn went into the RHE offices dozens of times to ensure a quality fit and product, and only after then did they find what they were looking for in the prototype. Over the course of a month, the prototype was refined even further into the finished product: the Gungnir Powered Assault Armor, or GPA2-MKI.

The armor boasts a number of features which would be helpful not only in combat scenarios, but also in reconnaissance and prolonged wear. Though boasting a number of technological features, many of them were run of the mill features included in retail armor sets, only refined to have a more functional and visually pleasing aesthetic. Unlike it's retail counterparts though, the GPA2/MKI featured a number of additional features that put the armor in a category of it's own. The personal energy shield augmented the already significant defensive power of the Songsteel armor, the biofoam injection system self-treated medical wounds, and the photo-optic replicator helped the armor blend in with a myriad of environments. In addition to powering the armor platform's many features, the power cell also increases the physical strength of the wearer, enabling higher resistance to physical punishment as well as the ability to utilize the armor to it's maximum efficiency. The armor is still functional without power, but after time would become physically taxing to use in combat scenarios.

At present, only seven sets of the armor exist. The first was retained by Rothana Heavy Engineering and is on display at their corporate headquarters on Csilla. The other six sets are privately owned by Kellyn Muir, on on display and stored at his personal residence. Only one of the armor platforms has seen use, with the rest remaining in pristine, unused condition.

To begin, this submission is far too powerful without any real downsides. It's impervious to every typical version of damage and essentially turns a user into a tank that would need to be downed with something like close air support. Even EMPs only disable shields and slows the user down a bit.

Give it weaknesses to compensate for the vast amount of protection and features it provides. Or lower some resistances. I realize the idea is to have something akin to master chief's suit in Halo. Even his suit isn't as effective as this one.

It taking a while to put on is irrelevant as a weakness. This clearly will already be on the user before they reach a combat zone.

Thanks for your feedback.

While I did draw influence from Halo, Star Wars and Halo are two completely different universes and it's unfair to compare efficacy based on the merits of the armor in another universe.

Much of the strengths in the armor come from the stronger (restricted) material, Songsteel. As such, high resistances are not unrealistic and should not have to be lowered to be on par with armors made of more traditional materials. The armor itself will be inherently stronger than others.

Much of the perceived overpoweredness likely stems from the personal energy shield, but don't read too much into it. Think of it as the gate to a walled city, and in order to pillage the city, the gate must be lowered. It can be shot out, it can be burned out, it can electronically disabled, etc. It's not a Mon Calamari shield either, it has no super strength or or high capacity, it's just a standard shield that attackers would have to breach to inflict any lasting damage.

In regards to the armor itself, I do think it does have adequate weaknesses. I've reworded some of them to make them more apparent (i.e: large caliber bullet being that of a rifle, not a cannon). If restricted mobility both passively and with directions as to how to achieve maximum immobility is not a tangible weakness that could be exploited in a PvP scenario, I don't know what is.

Excuse the delay. Let's go line by line and see who your explanation of the submission actually meshes with RP.

The issue is not that songsteel offers a higher level protection. That's clearly lore. The issue is that it's obvious that the suit cannot be made of solid songsteel. I'd assume it would have articulation points made of a more vulnerable material where certain tools can defeat the user. Here you have a mention of songsteel armorweave. Lore mentions that songsteel is extremely tedious to forge and shape. This would mean to me that either the weave wouldn't work indefinitely or couldn't even be crafted in such a manner. You could use this point to make a new weakness for the suit.

You mention in your explanation that the shield is "just a gate" and can easily be overcome by repeated abuse, but your listing says the shield "augments the armor's defensive capabilities exponentially." Let's remove that wording to better reflect your intention of the shield's use. Because this adds to the overall defensive nature of the armor I don't actually think you should even list this as a weakness.

I think you can easily divide this up into two separate weaknesses. This submission looks bulky from the picture and ill suited for something like lightsaber combat. Instead of saying that it limits mobility to an extent say that it doesn't allow for the user to dual gracefully with melee weapons or something like that. Secondly, you can list the limited peripheral vision in its own category without any modification of wording. Seems like a solid limitation.

So an EMP, your only stated weakness, doesn't stop the user of this armor either, according to this listing. My issue is that you state that the armor's power slowly recharges even when subject to hostility. So even if you're hampered and being smacked around after an EMP blast in a bit of time you'd regain full functionality of the suit? This is seems like an emergency function of the suit. Maybe you can list this recharge feature as something in the special feature's tab.

I could say how this is a limitation of the feature you are using and not a hardline weakness to the suit itself, but I don't want to seem like I'm coming down on you with a hammer. Let's leave this in as is.

A quick escape feature is just that: a feature. Remove this from the weakness list. In fact this is so helpful that I'd even put this in as a strength or special feature. We can use the second part even though a user would clearly have this on in advance of PvP battle.

You have a cool concept on your hands here, and I hope we can round it out together.

In light of the difficulty and effort required to craft the armor, it's production has been set at Semi-Unique. A tedious manufacturing process does not mean it is an impossibility to achieve, and it's production level is commensurate with the effort required in manufacturing.

Summary of Changes
  • Added 'Very Low' resistance to the Force and respective weakness to indicate so
  • Changed 'Though the personal energy shield augments the armor's defensive capabilities exponentially' to 'Though the personal energy shield augments the armor's defensive capabilities by providing a replenishable first line of defense'
  • Made limited peripheral vision it's own weakness
  • Revised limited mobility weakness to specify restricted use of more graceful forms of melee combat
  • Moved quick detach feature to strengths
  • Specified time to recharge power cell after EMP blast
